This place is so beautiful and has such a peaceful aura to it. The outbuilding has looms and the cutest B&W doggie sleeping in the shade. The main building has the treasure. Woven rugs, mats, small things like gloves and scarves are all reflective of the hours of love and detail going into each one. It was like running your hands through a chest of jewels. And the skeins hanging on the wall just begged to be touched delicately. The range of colors, especially in the natural dyes, was amazing. My BFF treated me to a few skeins, so I'll have to make something special with them. There are more looms in the main building and it's hypnotic to watch. I can only imagine how meditative it would be to use one. They have classes and brochures and everything, and a farmer's market was in the field below while I was there. Stunning, and I will definitely be back.

It was terrific! The instructor really knew what she was talking about & had extra little tricks & tips to add to the written curriculum. The apprentice was a woman from Norway & during lunch we sat together & she & I shared cultural views, it was really enlightening. I'm going back to volunteer.

This is a magnificent store with many many wool items. Everything from yarn to wool rugs and sheepskin pelts. They also have wool apparel. There are spinning and weaving classes. The items sold are from local artists and wool is sourced from the region. See

I just finished the Natural Hand Dyeing workshop and next week I will attend a 5 day tapestry weaving class. Tierra Wools offers fabulous experiences, beautiful wools, and inspiring woven art, yarn and gifts for purchase. Lovely facility. Helpful, friendly staff. I first learned about Tierra Wools and Shepherds Lamb on line and I am thrilled to have made the 1100 mile road trip (one way)!

My wife loves coming here to see the amazing work completed by artisans from around the United States! The selection of wool yarns, looms, rugs and hands on classes is amazing. Definitely worth coming to Chama, NM to spend time at Tierra Wools.

Because the class was a birthday gift for my wife, and because I paid for it, I am leaving the review. She loved the class and everyone was supportive. It was an incredible experience, she learned a lot, and the proof is in the photo. It seems tragic that this art form seems to be dying, but here at Tierra Wools, it is alive and well!

Very helpful staff. I love the beautiful, bright colors of the Gordo Connie's Blend Rug Yarn I bought today. If you're a weaver, knitter (as I am), or crocheter, it's definitely worth the drive to visit Tierra Wools.

Taking a class here was absolutely a worthwhile investment. So happy with everything, atmosphere, teachers, content. Now I just need a bigger budget or a sugar daddy so I can buy more yarn and roving!

Absolutely one of the most charming yarn/weaving shops you will ever find, and such a beautiful mountain scenery surrounding you.

An unique out of the way place. We have been here before and come back whenever we are up this way. People very friendly and knowledge. Lots of classes to teach how to dye, spin and weave the local yarn. Worth a trip. Nice little community.

With good directions from the staff of Three Ravens Coffee House in Tierra Amarilla, we found the well-marked left turnoff for Los Ojos within 10 minutes. Enjoy the picturesque wind down into town - and head toward the large metal roof the left labelled "Tierra Wools." There is some on-road and plenty of side parking. If you enter the shop directly , ignoring the church ( I dare you) you can turn right into a weaving sales showroom, poke around in the main knitting display area or head back into the weaver's domain, where they will show you how they dye yarn. All three are worth your time ; nobody's giving you a sales pitch. As a veteran knitter, I can vouch for the extensive color range of their mid-price, DK -weight yarn, available on-line. (Not everything in the shop is.)
