We stayed here for 2 nights in Sept 2023. The location is simply excellent! Incredibly convenient for visiting the City of Rocks and Castle Rock State Park. The room is new and updated with enough appliances to be really comfortable. There is no TV but that does not bother us. There is a restaurant on site with good food/drink options. The whole place is dog friendly and the restaurant has a dog friendly patio so we had a great time here. Highly recommend this place if you are visits the City or Castle Rock State Park.

Stayed here in late August and it was just lovely. A real oasis when there wasn't much close by. I got to stay in one of the cabins and it was just perfect. Cozy bed with a huge bathroom. I never saw the owners but the check-in was a breeze. The most convenient thing was the restaurant next door. Able to sit on my porch with a coffee I made for the machine in the room and enjoy the stars. If you're into exploring City of Rocks, this is definitely the place to stay.

This was a wonderful find close to The City of Rocks National Reserve. The Santa Fe room was clean and comfortable, and we loved having a wrap-around covered deck to enjoy the peaceful evening. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchenette was perfect for making morning coffee and breakfast. We'd stay again if we are anywhere near the area. [The Steakhouse was unexpectedly open while we were there, but we didn't get to enjoy it this time around. Instead, we ate at Rock City Pizza, which was great.)

We enjoyed our stay at the Almo Inn! We stayed in the Virginia, room 9. It was clean, cute, and spacious for our family of 4. Great place to stay if you’re visiting the City of Rocks! There is also a good restaurant across the parking lot called Outpost Steakhouse. If we are ever in the area again, we will definitely stay here!

Not what I expected - in a good way! I travel countless backroad, past-their-prime motels all over the Western states (off-road motorcycle riding). The usual places I stay are long forgotten and in ill-repair and usually in the $30-$60 range. So when I booked at the Almo Inn I was a bit taken back by the price but... When I arrived I was very pleasantly surprised by the nature of the outside of the hotel - clearly a quality building and great landscaping, etc. Upon entering my room I was taken back - it was large and very nicely done. A huge shower/jetted bath combo. A nice kitchenette, table and separate sitting area. The room was very clean and charming with real wood interior and furniture. While the kitchenette offers a microwave and larger refrigerator and freezer, there are signs that say no cooking (I didn't need to cook). All in all, the motel and room was excellent and the very nearby (200' away) steakhouse was convenient and excellent too (I left a separate review). My only minor complaint is contacting the manager is a bit difficult (call, lave a message and wait for a callback) - this worked out but I could see it being a problem if cell service was limited, etc. like it was for my friend's phone. Highly recommended!

I stayed in Silverton #8, and it's a $400-a-night room for $145. Honestly, one of the nicest hotel rooms I've ever enjoyed. It's furnished and decorated in a rustic style, but in a way that makes it feel posh and new. The furniture is comfortable, the bed is wide and easy to lose yourself in, and the bathtub is enormous (and jetted). There's no TV or radio in the room, which I feel is very appropriate for the setting of nearby City of Rocks and Castle Rocks.
The Steak House is one of the only eating establishments for many miles around, and I think they are finding their rhythm. My group of nine were visiting on a Wednesday night and I think that was far enough outside the Inn's normal load that they actually ran out of potatoes (in Idaho!) and not everybody got what they wanted; but I think their food supply truck shows up on Fridays to help them stock up for the weekend, when they see the most visitors, so I am willing to cut them some slack.
Granted, this is one of the only places to stay for many miles around City of Rocks; but instead of giving you a substandard experience for an outrageous price, which they could do given the lack of competition, the management of the Inn offer a first rate stay at a real bargain price.

What a fantastic place to stay! We stayed in the Amarillo room. Very spacious for the 6 of us. Clean and comfortable and we loved the decks out the front and back of the room. Quiet area with good food and fun close by. We loved the western theme and would definitely stay there again. I highly recommend the Almo Inn to anyone that needs a great place to stay and relax.

Perfect set up for our group of seven women. The two bedroom apartments are clean, spacious, decorated in a western theme and very comfortable. The Wi-Fi works great, which was important because we had no cell service in this small town population 153. We ate a delicious meal at the restaurant on the property called the outpost steakhouse. We had salmon, which was delicious. We are here to hike and enjoyed that tremendously.

We loved our stay in room 11 on father's day weekend. It was spacious, clean, comfortable and peaceful. We loved the old west feel and the beautiful views. I got engaged on the private deck, so definitely an experience I would cherish always.

We enjoyed our stay in #9 The Virginia room. The beds were one of the best we've slept in. Nice big bathroom and we love how the kitchen and sitting room were in a separate room. The snow-covered mountains made for a great view! It's a short drive to town. You can't go wrong with the Outpost Steakhouse just across the parking, this time we enjoyed the breakfast buffet... plenty of food. The owners /management are great people to work with. Thank you for a great experience!

Stayed the night and ate at the steakhouse. This was the best steak I've ever had. Juicy, flavorful, with a great set of sides. I think it was better than Ruth's Chris.

The service was outstanding with their friendliness and attentiveness. The price was great and we enjoyed the entire experience.

Breakfast was outstanding. I love the heart shaped biscuits, made with love and it showed.

If you have the opportunity to eat here, don't miss it!

Wonderful experience staying in this beautiful inn. It was clean, well kept, and had everything we could have needed. I was able to call ahead and request a pack-n-play for our baby and there was plenty of room for all three of us in the spacious room. The kitchenette was a huge bonus, especially since Almo is so small.
Also, the wifi was nice since we didn't have service in most of the area.
There was even a plug near our door if we needed to charge our electric car, but actual electric chargers are not nearby (maybe one day!)
We had a great experience!!

We had a great experience at Almo Inn and would highly recommend it. We have 4 young kids and we stayed in the 2-level room. It was perfect for our family. For being in such a small town in a remote location, I was very impressed with the experience. Their booking process was easy and I got an email with instructions on the combo to get into the room. The staff was very friendly at the restaurant. Highly recommend Almo Inn!

We stayed in one of their delightful cabins over Mother's Day weekend 2022. Clean comfortable and quaint. We loved being so close to City of Rocks. We weren't able to try the restaurant because it wasn't open at that time but we definitely recommend the Almo Inn and we will definitely be staying there again.

We were glad to have made a reservation at the Almo Inn. After camping in sub-freezing temperatures at City of Rocks, we needed a place to recover. As this was still in the era of Covid precautions, we never met the staff at the Inn, rather the key to our room was on the mat. And the room was all that we could have hoped for and more. Lots of room, very clean with just enough period decor to make it very comfortable. Plenty of room for just the two of us. Well, Covid also meant the steakhouse was closed and nowhere around was open either. So, it was camp food in the room which worked out just fine. Highly recommended. If we're ever in the area in the future, we'll definitely stay again.

The Dodge City room was a great homebase for our activities at City of Rocks. Check in was a breeze. The room was very nicely decorated and had very comfortable beds and furniture. The kitchenette included fridge, sink, microwave, and dish settings for 4; all sufficient for our needs. We were early in the season so a lot of the local restaurants, etc. weren't open yet. The view of the mountains from the back porch was beautiful. I hope to return again!

We love eating at the Outpost Steakhouse every time we visit the City of Rocks. They are all so welcoming and we just love eating there. The ribs are delicious and we treat ourselves to dessert each time. Our favorites are the chocolate cake and the cheesecake. Definitely worth stopping by to eat if you're in Almo!

We love going to City of Rocks and staying at the Almo Inn! The rooms are spacious and comfortable. If we bring our pup, we appreciate their dog friendly rooms! The steakhouse is also a great stop for a good meal with friendly service!

We love staying at the Almo Inn every other summer or so when we visit City of Rocks. The rooms are neat, comfortable, aesthetically pleasing, and unique and work great for our family with three kiddos. My favorite aspect of staying at Almo Inn are the front and back porches perfect for sitting and reading and drinking coffee and soaking in the views of the country around the Inn.

We’ve stayed there 3 times now. Each time is great. Price is right, it’s quiet, it’s clean and personal. Out of the way enough to feel like you’re getting away from the mess of it all and close enough to the things you need. We always base our trip to the city of rocks around when we can get a room reserved.
