It's a lovely spot in downtown Plymouth. We stopped in on a whim today. A large assortment of teas, sandwiches, and desserts for order. We ordered the English breakfast tea along with a classic scone with clotted cream and the chocolate sponge cake. All were excellent.
Shelly's also has a large selection of teas and tea accessories available for purchase.
They also sell frozen "bake and serve" scones.
This place is a true English tea room. Along with all these trappings, a sweet golden retriever reigns over the room.
We will definitely definitely be back!!!!

I wish a took more pictures! We were having so much fun, I forgot to take them! Great afternoon having tea and little sandwiches, try the scones they’d were delicious !We were all full by the time we left. Keep in mind, there is no parking, just on the street. Make reservations, we got lucky because there was a cancelation. The service is wonderful, they were just so nice! I can’t wait to go back for my afternoon tea😀😀😀 I guess they are already booked for Mother’s Day👍👍 Cheers🫖🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

We recently started coming here and have already been back so many times! The tea here is the best! We stopped buying tea at supermarkets and are now getting it from here! I would definitely recommend the Blueberry Scone, Chocolate and Cappuccino cake. Buddy the dog may be the best part of the trip! He is so friendly and will come over to greet you!

I had a great tea room experience here. The room full of tea smell. They have many tea options for tea lovers. I ordered a rose tea and a raisin scone. They were both good and overpassed my expectations. I would recommend party making a reservation on weekends before you visit here.

Shelly’s was the closest thing to a true UK t shop I’ve found since I left. Shelly herself served us, in an adorable spotted a line dress with petticoats no less, in her charming way and with her fluffy petticoat ruffling. We were also greated by a beautiful golden retriever Buddy and his giant stuffed carrot. The table was beautiful with white tablecloth and view of the red British phone booth outside, and soon our teas arrived ( so many options you will find it hard to decide) We had high caff earl grey and spicy masala chai, and my daughter had a lovely orange and hibiscus noted “cotton candy” tea, all served In beautiful ornate pink and red ornate tea pots. We ordered marmalade and raisin scones with clotted cream and strawberry and black current jam. Which was actual heaven and kept us going all the way to our hotel jn Danvers. If you’re in Plymouth, do not miss.

We took my mum to Shellys Tea Rooms for a birthday lunch. First thing-make a reservation.
When we were there it was a full house, very popular. The owner was really nice and treated us very well.

The selection of food and tea to choose from was very extensive. The food itself was really scrummy as they say in the UK. (my family is from the UK) In other words, it was delicious! Boxes to go for leftovers (we had leftovers because there was so much food).
The atmosphere was nice and inviting. We sat at the large table in the front window so it was bright and warm 👍.

Parking is either along the main road (2 hr free) or in a lot behind the building (paid lot).

They also have some goodies to buy after you're done.

Definitely a nice place to bring your mum, family or friends.

Came here randomly with my 10 year old daughter and had ourselves a proper tea party. I legit felt like the Queen of England invited us to her parlor for Tea and Crumpits. The Food was fantastic. And the Tea was a 10/10. Shelly when your ready to start a Modern Day Boston Tea Party. Count me in..

Excellent afternoon tea. Delicious sandwiches and lovely pastries - this from someone who doesn't have much of a sweet tooth. The perfect outing for two friends in need of an escape. Shelly is attentive and charming. Give yourself a treat.

Shelly’s tea room is much fun and such a unique experience! The scones are to die for, the finger sandwiches are delicious, and the variety of snacks and sweets are fantastic. They have a vast library of teas to choose from; So many that would make even the traditionally non-tea drinker would enjoy a cup! I go every year on my birthday and try to snag a spot for mother’s day (although you gotta book early! By March I was already out of luck for a mother’s day outing). If you haven’t tried this place, it’s well worth the visit. Come hungry!

Such a lovely time at the tea room today!
The tea was delightful and the whole experience was amazing!!
Our group had the regular Windsor option and the vegan Windsor. The vegan scones and options were phenomenal! They even had gluten free options (we did not have any of those)
What a treat to go someplace where there was something for everyone!
Owners were great!
Definitely a place to go for girls day or just for an authentic experience!
Thank you again Shelly, it was just brilliant!

Ps- we saw a little girl with her princess dress, little tiara and her granny out for a girls day... it was the most adorable thing ever!!

This place was so nice!! It was a little more packed than I expected, but that didn't end up bothering us too much. The tea and food was PHENOMENAL. The little sandwiches were delicious, and the scones were perfectly baked. I highly highly recommend this place for a special occasion. It was costly but well worth the splurge!

We LOVE Shelly's Tea Room. When we are in town we visit this wondrous place repeatedly. The best tea, scones, and finger sandwiches I've ever had. You can tell the owner poured her heart into this business and it encourages you to slow down your pace and relax. Please visit here, you will not regret it.

My friend and I were visiting Plymouth when we passed by Shelly’s Tea Rooms. We were in awe but we’re sad to notice when it was 5:15pm but they close at 5. That was when Shelly let us right in and let us sit, have some tea, and told us to take our time. This place is the cutest place ever, the ambiance is amazing, and Buddy the dog is the cutest! The tea was good, if I lived in the area I’d be here all the time, will hopefully return soon!

Shelly's Tea Rooms was a magical and lovely experience. My sister and I went for afternoon tea to celebrate her recently becoming a mom. Everything was perfect. The food was delicious - especially the sticky toffee pudding and the two teas I tried were amazing. They were also really flexible and accommodating to vegetarian diets. I will definitely be returning!

We had a lovely time sharing tea and scones here, after learning about this location while on a Ms Vicky's tour of Plymouth. Shelly was a delight, as were her offerings (loved the clotted cream & jam).

First time visitor to Shelly’s after much wait and anticipation- it was absolutely lovely! We started with hot mulled wine tea? Then moved on to our pots or tea (I got Victorian afternoon) We got to try all of the finger sandwiches (not pictured) all delicious ( Egg and Cucumber were my favorites) Then onto the sweets! Christmas pudding, Scones, and Victorian sponge! So delicious! I can’t wait to return! Bonus, Buddy the dog made everything even more sweeter!

Teatime was truly a delight! What a unique and special place. Plymouth is lucky to be home to such a warm and delicious experience. The scones with jam, butter and clotted cream was perfection and the chai tea was one of the best we’ve ever had. Call to make a reservation or you’ll be disappointed to find there’s no availability🫖💜 . Buddy the golden retriever sits like a perfect host waiting for pets & adoration. Many patrons new his name and greeted him like an old friend🫶.

As a vegan, I never expected I'd actually be able to enjoy a full high tea experience in the US. I wasn't expecting how perfect it was!! I made a reservation last minute and got backed up by traffic, but they were so understanding about it and got us in anyway!

The food-- at most establishments with a vegan option that don't specialize in it, you don't get the full experience that everyone else does and have to sacrifice for it being vegan. Here there were NO sacrifices made -- everything, from the delicious cheese sandwiches to the clotted cream and cakes, were on par with the non vegan option my partner got. It was better than most pastries, etc I've had before going vegan. I really felt like they designed this experience with dietary inclusivity in mind, and it was evident in the experience. They also had a gluten free option for those who need it! And TONS of delicious tea options.

There was an adorable golden retriever which was a huge plus. I loved the leisurely pace of everything that encouraged us to take our time and relax, unlike most restaurants/cafes in the US that want you out the door asap. I left wanting to move to this town so I could go back regularly, and the most relaxed I've ever felt. The service and people were wonderful, the food was wonderful, the tea was wonderful.

Went specifically for afternoon tea and was not disappointed. Nothing better on a cold, rainy day than a nice cuppa. I enjoyed every bit of it but especially recommend the scones with clotted cream and strawberry preserves.

Had a wonderful afternoon of tea and treats with friends. The owners are the sweetest people ever. The tea list was amazing and varied. Had Victorian Afternoon tea, cucumber sandwiches, and crumpets with fresh clotted cream. Don't miss this amazing taste of Britain in nearby Plymouth!
