The Gyro Joint

Consistently great food and cooked the way I like it 👌. Never get chunks of gristle in the meat, it's higher quality. The white stuff and the dressing are right on target. Everything is really good, although I haven't tried the burgers.

I am writing this review as I go through the dining experience.

First impressions:

It's in a strip mall. The place is counter order, but table service. Family operated, mom is working the counter. Dad is in the kitchen. Son(?) is working on the computer off to the side.

I explained that we had read a good review and we here to check it out.

Mom is a riot! Warm, engaging, lively. In between running food to patrons, she stops to make friends with my daughters.

We ordered.

BE WARNED: Wednesday's you get a free order of hummus and pita bread. THIS STUFF IS LIKE CRACK. Our order is still cooking and I had to go back to order a second one. The hummus is lovely. LOTS of garlic. Not too much... the hummus is noteworthy.

Ok... food is here. Details to follow.

1. Cheeseburger and onion rings split between the girls. Nice half pound burger with lettuce, tomato, etc. It was a solid offering. The burger is good, but who orders the burger at a Greek joint??? Well, kids you know...

2. Greek salad: comes with a pita cut in sections, and a big side of tziki sauce. It was decent.

3. Gyro sandwich: the sandwich is BIG. Excellent quality. Definitely worth the drive and the price.

4. Gyro platter: Oops! Probably didn't need to order that Greek salad. About 1/2 a salad worth comes with the platter. Again, excellent quality and well worth the drive and price.

We added some dessert...

5. Christina (we've met now, and become old friends already) makes the Baklava heeeelf in the back. It's very good.

6. The Greek donuts... Christina explained that they wait until we are about finished with the meal to drop them into the frier.

Hot, crisp on the outside, chewy on the inside, topped with cinnamon and some honey liqueur.

She was right... they steel the show. Oh, my god, they are so good.

Along the walls of the place are photos in the form of a mural that depict the family's journey from immigrating to the US to the present at the restaurant.

This place is just a heart warming, delightful restaurant that really does deliver a great plate of food, and at a great value. The family really just shines with their hospitality.

In a time when no one wants to come to work, and those who do don't want to be there, this place is a real exception, a great value, and a delightful experience

Delicious mom and pop spot! We had fries, grilled feta, and gyro sandwiches. Great service and low key atmosphere for lunch.

The BEST gyros - perfect pita, flavorful tzatziki, absolutely tender meat- perfection. The chicken was equally delicious and had a crispy finish that made the meal. Already dreaming of my next order.

Another great score: my new neighborhood includes a an authentic, family-owned Greek spot, The Gyro Joint, with amazing food & friendly service not even 2 minutes away! This is already the 2nd time this week my sister & I have gotten their food. My only gripe so far is that they're not open later than 9pm!

Already confirmed their gyros are the bomb so tried wings tonight and they did not disappoint! Crispy, meaty, & served with a tasty housemade dipping sauce. Deeeeelish! Can't wait to try more!

Absolutely delicious! I had the Gyro Platter for dinner. Nice portion and presentation. The Greek salad was fresh and tasty. Christina, one of the owners is amazing and you can tell she truly cares about her customers and takes pride in the meals they prepare. I will be back for sure.

Mrs. Christina is Greek through and through. She knows how to take care of you, must try the garlic wings made with herbs and spices from her personal garden. Stopped by here on a trip and am glad I did.

Flew all the way from Barbados and had to come here. The food was so good I had to continue eating it although I was already full! Highly recommend!

Best hummus, Gyro and coffee I have ever had. But the best part was the owners. It was just me and them, they took care of me like I was family. If this is the Greek hospitality I can’t wait to go to Greece. I wish them lots of success.

Came to dine in last week and I’m already back. The food is fresh and delicious. I love that it is family owned and you can tell there is so much love and care that they put into their dishes. I’ve tried the gyro sandwich which is quite substantial and the Mediterranean burger was really yummy. I’ll be coming back again in the future.

Stopped in for lunch and I had a great experience, the food was so good! The owners are very hands on, i can see why this place has been around for so long. Will be back 🙂

If you want Greek food please don’t look further. The service 10/10 the food 10/10. This place was magical. Christina the owner is an absolute Angel and will treat you like she’s known you for years. The reviews are not a joke and you’ll absolutely have an experience here!

I’ve Been driving by for years and always thought about stopping in. Finally, I went and the food & service were great. Had the lamb gyro. Excellent and we’ll be back. Nice work Gyro Joint

A fantastic family owned a place in Pompano. Everything was fresh and clean. I recommend the spicy hummus and veggie wrap with lemonade for a great vegan meal!!

Warm, family (owned) atmosphere with home cooked quality food. Casual dining environment with great service and quirky conversation. Plentiful portions and daily deals. Try the lamb gyro with onion rings and don't forget to order a side of chicken wings with homemade garlic sauce. Yum.

very pleasant first experience. Mama Christina' the Owner ' is very nice and hospitable. she helped me pick a meal for my first time. she promised me that i will love their food and told me after i eat here the first time i will end up saying "once a week i will stop by the greek!" she gained a new customer. food is cooked fresh to order. I ate the lamb gyro with french fries and baklava for dessert. everything was delicious. I highly recommend anyone to come here for a great authentic home cooked greek vibe. thank you

This place is incredibly unassuming from the outside, that all changes upon entering. The owners are the most wonderful and welcoming people. The food was outstanding and delicious. The Greek coffee was an amazing experience. I will visit again, so many menu items to try!

Family owned greek restaurant with a family feel! We enjoyed mozzarella for our free app for spending over $30. The food was made fresh, quickly, and we were entertained by the staffs’ more than pleasant demeanor the whole time! Definitely will be back to enjoy more authentic gyros as soon as we can!

We drove by a few times and finally decided to stop in - and so glad we did!!! The best gyro I’ve had in a long time, tender meat you can tell is cooked fresh to order. The owner Christina is an absolute sweetheart and made the experience that much more amazing. We topped off our meal with the free donuts (Monday special) that were delicious! We will be back very soon!

So delicious. Stopped in for the first time for lunch on Wednesday went back for dinner on Friday. The gyro is delicious! The pitas are to die for! DO NOT MISS THE GREEK DONUTS!!! Lovely atmosphere, wonderful service AMAZING food!
