Georgia Eye Institute in Vidalia GA does NOT answer their phones, and their mailbox is consistently full. Even when I was able to leave a message (1 time) they never called back. I was able to schedule an appointment but they took 2 and a half hours to do the routine checkup, then never called me back about my contacts or my glasses coming in. I have not heard back from anyone and can't even leave a message for them. Terrible service.

Terrible place, rude staff and Doo Kang, OD has written a lot of incorrect prescriptions this year. He's only been out of school since 2014. This is a fly-by-night place with little experience and Dr.Oxley is pretty much retired. She works one day a week. This office also charges much more than their competition. I was charged $50 more for an office visit than my last eye doctor, AND i was given a new glasses prescription that WAS WAY OFF... not just a little, but way, way wrong. When i contacted them about it, I was sent a letter telling me to never come back and that I was no longer a patient. They also billed my insurance company and I PAID EVERYTHING UPFRONT.... incompetent crooks, don't waste your time.

I went to Dr. Oxley for many years, and she is quite loved in the community. She always ran a 5-star show. Since she is now semi-retired, I tried Dr Kang after she merged with this practice. I found him to have a much less inviting bedside manner. There was also a period where he refused to use their retinal scanner and forced everyone to dilate for retinal examinations. This upset quite a few folks who had grown accustomed to avoiding dilation for a small fee.

This practice charges by the page to release records directly to the patient, which is pretty uncommon in the industry. I found it to be downright insulting, frankly. Thus, when you move to a new town and find a new doctor, they must jump through hoops to send a HIPAA release to retrieve your old records.

These are just some things to consider about GA Eye Institute....

Walk into the waiting room there’s like 20 people waiting ahead of me they told me. I went to see a different doctor That does not over book and make people sit in the waiting room for three hours
