If you want your food cooked perfectly, this is the place to go.
The chef is fastidious about his food. And he has good reason to be. A perfectionist in the kitchen, no plate goes out without it being exactly the way he wants it to be.
Although your prior experiences may persuade you to do otherwise, trust him.
I ordered a wonderful dish with breakfast, potatoes, cornbread, and an omelette.
I am quite used to ordering cornbread, and cutting it in half, and putting butter on it. And so, I asked the waitress for some butter.
I overheard the chef angrily replying that he does not cook with butter. That the cornbread does not need butter. before she came back, I tasted the cornbread myself, and saw that he was right. It was wonderful. Moist and delicious, not needing a thing. The waitress apologized to me, but I told her there was no need.
Make sure you make a reservation.

This was my 1st dining here and overall I really liked the relaxed environment. Everyone was very friendly. The relaxed atmosphere reminded me of dining in Europe. Everyone takes their time and it’s not a rushed environment and I really enjoyed that. If you are in a rush this probably isn’t the restaurant for you. The vibe is very chill. Now on to the food. I left feeling like a stuffed turkey. They food was good and we ate so much. I would recommend the French toast and the crab quesadilla. The shrimp and grits were cool. I liked that the quesadilla came with rice and it was kind of sweet which balanced out the savory taste of the quesadillas. I would say the food is well balanced. The French toast were like French toast sticks they weren’t overly sweet which is great. It comes with a sauce on the side which was really good. I would definitely dine again for brunch. And the drinks are good I got the guava Bellini and we also go the Cesar salad that was pretty good. Oh and the corn bread was pretty good.

What an amazing experience!!! My wife planned this for our date night and we have zero complaints. Friendly staff, fresh food, welcoming and personal touch.
Only 8 other guest in the restaurant; reservations only. This gave it the personal touch.
All fresh made!
Going back again for Mother's Day!

Our compliments to Chef Sean Guy and his team for a stellar brunch! On the sweet side: decadent french toast with creme anglaise, sweet potato bread pudding (!), and a very chocolatey brownie (pictured.) On the savory side: a pulled pork quesadilla in huge portions, salmon belly tacos with a perfectly dressed side salad, and the blue ribbon dish for me: jerk duck confit (!) with a sweet plantain waffle, poached egg, and blueberry compote. Y'all. A five star flavor journey in an intimate space with a kind team pouring love into their food. I can't wait to visit again!

Everything looks and tastes great. It's rare to find a creative soul food restaurant that gives so much attention to how meals are plated. The sweet potato polenta was so intricately layered with a mountain of veggies piled atop an over easy egg that I was reluctant to knock it all down to eat it. The jalapeno cornbread was thick and fluffy with kernels of corn included. It didn't go too heavy on the peppers, but was balanced just right. The goat cheese mac could've been cheesier, but the cavatappi noodles were a huge plus. Just to sample one more item, I got the black eye pea curry to go and it was amazing. A great combo of African and Indian vibes in one dish. Overall, a very positive first experience that makes me want to come back and try more of the menu.

This is by far THEE BEST Restaurant experience that I've ever had. The food was AMAZING! We had the Winter Prix Fixe 6 course menu; and when I tell you that it was worth me flying in specifically to experience this restaurant! The Italian-Sausage Meatloaf slider, Nitro Shrimp over grits, Caesar Salad w/Jalapeno Corn Bread, Amuse Bouche, Blue Plate Special and Sweet Potato Bread Pudding....ALL was AMAZING! Chef Sean Guy put his foot and creativity in each dish! The explosion of flavors were superb!! Not to mention the Customer Service was Phenomenal!!! I can't wait to visit Baltimore again, this restaurant is #1 on my list to visit!

I had a pleasant dining experience. When I approached the door, I was taken back by the "curtain" like entry and small space. I expected it to be noisy, especially seated by the open kitchen. Although it was not, I enjoyed the open kitchen and seeing the interworkings of the goods being prepared. The food was overall fantastic. Everything was perfect, and we ordered so much to taste. I had the Nitro Ship and Chicken dumpling. The charred octopus and scallops were cooked exceptionally well and came with parmesan grits, which were seasoned well too. Unfortunately, they didn't have the crab quesadilla, so we sided on the vegetable one, which was still okay. The goat cheese mac did not disappoint; while it wasn't the creamy texture, it is worth tasting this spin on the homestyle delight.

Perfect first time back in person meal! Our sever Caleb was incredible and had great recommendations. Chef Guy is a master of his craft. Can't wait to visit again! Everything was delicious, but the jerk duck, meatloaf sliders and chicken dumplings were our favorites. The sweet potato bread pudding was also outstanding!
Helped that we were the only party there for most of the meal. Great atmosphere!

Went for one of my close friends birthday dinner and I highly recommend it. THE PORTIONS, honestly I was so stuffed I had to bring food back. We did the prix menu, with 5 courses and everything was delicious. Small space, and you can see the kitchen, very intimate. Cooks, chef, waitress were all very pleasant.

Listen the food and experience here is top notch. I definitely recommend making a reservation but if you can manage to get squeezed in you're lucky. The food here is something else. I had the wfc steak and eggs, with an order of the raisin bread french toast, wife had the nitro shrimp and grits with a side of duck fat fingerlings, and the jalapeno cornbread. I have never had jalapeno corn bread and it was definitely worth having. Everything was just so good. I'll definitely be back for sure.

While I typically find brunch to be my least favorite of all meals, a bit of decisional purgatory for me, I always found this place to be one of the better offerings around the Baltimore area. Not having been here for over a couple years, I was glad to see they survived the shut downs over the same period. Having revamped the space of their corner Butcher Hill restaurant which a more contemporary feel, it still retained a portion of the charm that I recollect. With the chef in the exposed, open kitchen and serving up some tasty southern style dishes that the area has a lack of. On this particular day the group ordered just about 3/4 of the dishes, which allowed for a nice tasting of each. With three of the dishes served with a side of grits, it was a bit of an overload there. But, the cauliflower steak was prepared tenderly with a flavorful season and spice, the shrimp and grits had a tasty tangy sauce served with a delicious piece of homemade cornbread that I just loved. The least favorite of the bunch was the charred octopus and scallop dish which just didn’t fit much in the scheme and seemed to be more a dish best served at supper. My favorite, ever since my first visit, Is the sweet potato polenta served below a freshly prepared bed of fresh veggies, eggs and goat cheese. For me everything about this dish works as it melts a lovely blend of both the lunch and breakfast worlds. The sweetness of the polenta combined with the savory remaining items brings this atop the list of dishes to try here. Make a resy should you plan to visit as there is quite the limited space.

Dined the evening of New Year’s Day. ALL AROUND INCREDIBLE. If you’re into contemporary international fusion cuisine, this is it. The restaurant is small but who cares- they social distance and the ambience and vibe is what sets it off. Greeted and seated immediately, we were 20 mins early for our 7pm reservation- no problem. We arrived early to allow time to find street parking so make sure you plan for that.
The gentleman taking care of us was exceptional. Knew the menu and preparation like the back of his hand.
The menu was prefix but they offered many options. Keep in mind that there may be add-ons to the prefix cost so if you want a little extra, build it into your bill.
Plan for a 5 course meal for dinner. They pace you for each offering so that you can fully enjoy each course. We were the last ones in the restaurant and didn’t even feel rushed to leave. Our server even offered us another cocktail, we declined, but that goes to show that they care about their customers experience.
Compliments to the chef, he went out of his way to thank us for coming and wished us a HNY!
The photos speak for itself. We will definitely be back soon.

Everything about this place was a vibe! 🙌💜 I landed on this spot in search of a Solo brunch date with myself. My initial choice was closed so a Google search sent me to a blog post with the best spots in Baltimore. I must agree! WFC was a little hard to find bc from the outside it looks closed, but it’s not! They recommend reservations but will take walk-ins. The executive chef is visible & will ask for feedback which is nice. I came hungry for a good brunch & that’s exactly what I received. I ordered a pitcher of “Dope Juice” (their signature red sangria) had more than enough to share a glass & take some home lol, Salmon Belly Tacos w/ a salad (both were very tasty- a mango salsa would’ve paired perfectly👌, Parmesan grits (good but a little dry for my liking) & OMGOODNESS the Sweet potato Bread Pudding!!! 🙌😱 Divine!!! Soooo freakin’ good!! 🤤 Overall 5 stars for food & staff🙏 I can’t wait to come back & tryout dinner! FYI- On Saturdays they close at 3pm & re-open again at 5pm for dinner prix fixe reservations.

Great atmosphere-- small but laid back (you need a reservation) and open to the kitchen. Food is unreal. Standouts were the nitro shrimp with grits, cornbread, and chicken dumplings. Will for sure go back!

Water for chocolate is one of the best restaurants in the city. My girlfriend and I went for their Valentine's day ticketed event.
The fixed menu was amazing. Chef Guy picked a perfect set of options for all types of palates to chose from.
I hadn't been to the restaurant in a few years, and man had I been missing out. Chef Guy cooked every single plate that went out during the evening, and the people around the restaurant were speechless at how good the food was.
We will be going back soon. Even as we were finishing up and absolutely full with delicious food, my girlfriend was asking when we were coming back for brunch. Do yourself a favor and come patron this restaurant!

Food and service were fantastic. The weather was nice so we were able to sit outside. It was a really enjoyable experience. I got the chicken liver over goat macaroni, and my fiance got the pulled pork quesadilla. Everything was seasoned perfectly and absolutely tasty. Thanks!
