Mama's On the Half Shell

This is my second time visiting mamas on the half show. The food is definitely a step above, then what else is around in the area. I called to make a reservation for my family and was greeted by the hostess Tatiana. She had a wonderful energy to her, which made our dining experience, much more enjoyable. Be prepared to spend a decent amount of money to eat here, but you should expect high-quality service.

The oysters are amazing here. Good selection and well cleaned. Their appetizers were also very good and great portion. Their entrees are a bit lackluster though. I'd recommended their oysters, drinks, and appetizers here only.

Mama's on the Half Shell hit the Spot! The ambiance is wonderfully pub-like, and I enjoyed every bite!
We got the Crab dip, which my two year old loved! Loved how much crab was in it and that it's served in a bread bowl! Extra yum!
We also got the Steamed mussels in Old-Bay Butter, which were wonderful! Full of flavor (love that old bay)! Great representation of Baltimore Flavors.
We got the fried jumbo shrimp with fries and Cole slaw, which were huge and tasted great!
I also got some raw East Coast Oysters, I had to while I was here! Small but flavorful!
Last but definitely not least were the mini crab cakes PACKED with lump crab meat! Delicious and just what I wanted!
So happy with this meal!

Best happy hour deals anywhere in Baltimore. $1 local oysters and drink specials too. I've been here several times and the oysters have always been great, good sized, and fresh. The Wednesday happy hour special was amazing... Any bottle of wine was half price and included 6 oysters. Came another time on a Monday for happy hour and found they had a great deal on their crab cake (get it broiled). Best price for the size I have ever found.

Imani was an amazing server. She gave great oyster and wine suggestions. She made our experience remarkable! Try the oysters and harvest salad.

First time visiting this restaurant and had a good time. The food and drinks were delicious! I love how the give a flavor description of the different types of oysters on the menu (I've never seen this before - I'm from NYC). I can't remember the name of the oysters I ordered but they were sweet and delicious. Next time I get a chance to visit, I will sit inside to experience the ambiance.

Imani is INCREDIBLE!! My wife and I are here on a 17-year wedding anniversary and Imani is the reason that we will return for. She is personable and sociable, and I truly believe it has nothing to do with her job. I believe she is just that way as a person. And trust me, she's the reason that we are coming back. If you lose her, you've lost. Thank you Imani for just being you. The world is a better place with you, than without.

Celebrated my BEarthday with dinner there. The food was delicious everyone in our party loved their appetizers as well as their meal.

We're glad we stopped into Baltimore on our way back north from a vacation and found Mama's. This was midday on a sweltering Saturday afternoon. 4 hours of driving, we sat outside because we had our puppy with us. Otherwise, we would have enjoyed the air conditioning and atmosphere of the indoor bar. Despite the heat, the maitre d, server, and other staff were highly attentive, quick and very friendly. We were even given an icy virgin crush, to take the edge off the heat. Thank you so much! Our dog was served a bowl of water of her own. I ordered the crab club sandwich which was humongous. Three layers, with shrimp salad. Salad that was not overly "mayonnaisey", a layer of crab cake and a layer of thick cut bacon. Lettuce and tomato on all layers provided more flavor and crunch. After eating about a quarter of the sandwich, I discarded most of the bread in favor of tasting the flavors of the shrimp, crab and bacon. The sandwich was very good but I may have enjoyed the crab cake more had I ordered it as a solo star of the sandwich. Maybe next time. If you want a sandwich loaded with goodies, order this. If you want to test out the crab cake, order it as a sandwich up its own or the entree. The fries were delicious. My husband ordered a oyster cool boy which he gobbled up happily along with his crab chowder. We enjoyed our meal thoroughly. As a bonus, it's across the street from a fantastic pie and coffee place. Sweet neighborhood too.

Returned and had the best lollipop lamb chops ever! Seasoned well and grilled to perfection. Not over cooked at all. Mear was tender and juicy. Loved every morsel of them!

Took our family visiting from Texas is here, and we enjoyed the ability to sit down as a family, talk, and enjoy this wonderful meal.

Mama's is consistent in the quality of the food and wonderful staff. We had two small children with us, and they were very accommodating.

As I said before, and I'll say again. . .we will be back!

This was a delightful experience. Food was amazing. Went for a date night and our waiter was extremely attentive and kind. He recommended the oysters Rockefeller and they were divine. The orange cocktail was yummy. Would definitely come again. It's packed on weekends so would recommend a reservation.

Stopped in for brunch last weekend with friends and what a find. Make sure you come hungry because the portions are ginormous and everything we ordered was the great and meant for sharing. The tuna tartare and crab dip are must tries. We also had the crab soup, beer muscles, and seafood club that’s big enough for 2-3 people to share.

The food was very good and I plan to come back. The service was very good. Everything came out hot.

We had a great dinner at Mama’s on the Half Shell! Such a cute spot and has a lot of seating both inside and outside. They have some great seafood options and a good variety of options also. They were really accommodating with dietary restrictions when asked and had decent labeling on the menu to note gluten free options. We had crab egg rolls, rockfish with crab, shrimp scampi, strawberry salad, lobster cavatelli, and soft shell crab sandwich. Everyone loved their food and we would definitely go back to try more!

Bar tender was amazing. The seafood tasted fresh.

We sat at the bar and Scott the bartender provided great service. Timely with our beverage refills and provided very good recommendations because this was our first visit. Highly recommend

BEST steamer pot I've had. Enough food for 2. I normally do not like oysters AT ALL, but I figured I'd give them a try, and the way they were prepared they were AMAZING!! We sat outside and enjoyed the beautiful weather. Service was great.

Great time during the middle of the day on a rainy Tuesday. Very quiet and just a few customers. Lovely service and ambiance. Loved the bartender Dillon down stairs and the shuckster! Didn't catch his name but let me tell you....

During Covid I taught myself to shuck oysters. Needless to say some oysters are smaller but have a hell of a hinge. I've done all kinds from all over the states. BABY..it is a talent. But see here is where it gets interesting and what sets these oysters apart. The oysters here are meticulously clean. No mud or worms to wash off. Shucked? They do not have shards of shells in the raw oyster. No crunchy bits to maneuver when you drop the sweet briny oysters down your throat. The oysters also have very clean insides with the oysters juice amazing to drink. No mignotte sauce or horseradish necessary. Just clean and fresh. I'll be back for just these.

Hh $1 oysters are delaware. My faves were shooting points and chinateaque. Meaty and full, sweet and briny

Tried all 3 types, parm and herb, paprika butter and horseradish. Don't let me hold you. The horseradish HITS. I had 2 of each flavor first round and another 6 of straight horseradish the 2nd. Add the bread and just order the dozen.

Cream of crab soup? Flavorful and full of crab meat. Not too thick but sticks to your bones. Mine was a bit grainy? I'd give it a 7.5/10.

Drinks?
Tried the spritzer which is just refreshing ND perfect for a hot day.

Tried the blueberry martini. Strong and tasty like bonefish grill.
