Cafe On the Square

This is a phenomenal, hole-in-the-wall cafe that reminds me of New York! The owner is very friendly and has been here since 1992. The food is fresh, tasty, and the prices are very reasonable. We were shown excellent customer service and attention. I cannot recommend this place enough!

Wonderful “hidden” place. The staff was so kind and the menu is huge! Great value, low prices, and very fast service for a delicious sandwich. I was visiting Baltimore when I stopped by and truly wished I lived closer.

Don’t skip on this cafe on your stroll through the city. Placed on the corner, near where most students live, is this delicious cafe with the nicest group of employees. These sandwiches will definitely fill your stomach without denting your wallet

This place is excellent! I love exploring a new city and finding great food. You know you've found a good spot when a steady number of people come through the door, and the customers and owners know each other. Cafe on the Square is obviously a locals spot, which speaks to the quality of the food. I got a California Chicken Salad with a slice of sunflower seed bread, and it was fantastic! Make sure you ask for the homemade dressing; you won't regret it.

Great lunch spot! Fresh, tasty, good prices, and fast. Definitely get one of the house made pickles as a side!

I was lucky enough to be working in the same building for a month and must have eaten here 2-3 times a week. I was never disappointed. There is no secret sauce, no fancy menu, or gimmicks.

What there is: amazing sandwiches! If I had access to a deli, a bakery, and fresh produce this is the sandwich I would make for myself. The staff are friendly and great. The salads superb. No frills, no twisting their own arms to post themselves on the back. JUST EXCELLENT SANDWHICHES.

I had do e a lengthy review and lost it before finishing it.
So the short version.
The Crab/Shrimp Salad is unbelievable. Iam a seafood fein. And I've eaten many seafood salads, but have never eaten a salad such as this. The price I can't remember. If you try it you'll be hooked. If I can, today I will pleasure myself with another salad.
Mr. John your Crab/Shrimp Salad is the best by far. How do you keep this a secret. I'll try my best to see it isn't a secret any more. Only secret is the Salad dressing you put on the salad.

I have not had great food like this in long time!! I have never had chicken salad taste so good! Fresh and delicious!!
I recommend Cafe on the Square to everyone. Don't forget to try the brownie!!

It's hard to find if you don't know where it is, but it's worth the search. The owner was really cool and friendly. Most sandwiches are $5 - $7. I had the Chick's Club with chicken salad and bacon on sunflower seed bread, and it was delicious. Fresh bread is big for me on sandwiches, and this one was perfect. I also grabbed one of the brownies, also very good. The service was very quick too. I'll be back again to try their pasta salads and other sandwiches, but I'd definitely recommend it to others. They also do cheap breakfasts if you're on the run and they have soups and breads.

Turkey and Roast Beef is really good. Highly recommended.

Great friendly place. I have been in the area for years and only heard of it. Glad I finally started frequenting it now. It is amazing you can get such delicious sandwiches made in less than a minute (cold sandwiches) even at peak hours! It is a bit pricey but for the convenience and quality it is well worth it. I am super picky and am glad to give this place 5 stars

Really nice guy, was happy to accommodate gluten free, and it was one of the best lettuce wraps I've had!

I've known on this place since 2002 but haven't gone in a while. I went on this past Wednesday and then still have. The energetic owner, the ambiance, the massive influx of UMMS staff... it hasn't changed.

And if you go for anything, go for the Carnival pasta. It has me sold then and it still slaps now.

The service is quality and the food has bursts of flavor and is very filling. Worthy every penny!!! And for the record they has a Honey Mustard that IS AMAZING better than "BoarsHead" brand!!

I thought to myself, "Should I go to the crowded fast food place next door, or try something different?" I'm glad I tried this place. The atmosphere fit the Jazz I was playing (John L. Nelson's "Don't Play With Love") The light rain and the aromas in this café. Embodies what a café should feel like. Comfy, relaxing, and good prices and offerings. Not to mention great customer service.
I ordered the egg on a bagel with melted cream cheese. It was delicious. Simplicity at it's best. I saw they offer sprouts! And today they had my favorite soup (cream of potato). I will next time get a toasted everything bagel with sprouts, cheddar cheese, and tomato---chipotle sauce if they have any. Roasted red peppers if they have any also. Anywho. My stomach is happy.

Hands down, the best tuna salad around. Delicious bread too and amazing brownies! I don't live close but I will definitely make a special trip back to this place for sure!

One of the most reliable places in the city to get a quick lunch. Service is fast and always friendly and the menu has a good variety of sandwiches, salads and drinks. Good prices too, nothing beats Cafe on the Square.

Great Sandwiches!! The Guy John is extremely nice I advise you try their 8.99 lunch special the brownie that comes with is delicious. Fast & Friendly!
