This is a KJ only assembly with all the characteristics of a cult. If you study their views hard and learn all the right connectors you can be lost and nobody will ever be able to tell you any different too. Narcissistic eisegesis ---> false faith ---> cognitive dissonance ---> insecurity ---> isolation ---> abandonment or slavery. They have an uneasy relationship with reformed doctrines and are generally anti-intellectual.

The danger here is that narcigesis is disguised as exegesis - clouded in a thick veil of archaic language, exclusivity, and zeal that is unaccountable to reasoning from the scripture with common understanding. When you add bad hermeneutics, loose doctrine, lack of accountability, and authoritarian culture it becomes ripe for abuse (...'the ignorant and unstable twist to their own destruction'...).

Their system of theology is rooted in the idea that the KJ bible is perfect above all others, even if it means ignoring how we actually got the Bible, proper discernment of transliteration and literalization, analysis of variants, improved modern scholarship of ancient languages, recent abundance of manuscripts, and known linguistic drift....

They wear as a badge of honor - belief in/logical progressions of - well known textual errors, as proof of their faithfulness to the word and soundness of teaching, while hypocritically deriding others as heretics for errors that arose from bad translation/transliteration in history (see due penance and repentance LXX c.400, Lucifer c.1500, sons of God, et al).

Generally I agree with about 93% of what is taught - however here, proper and consistent biblical exegesis in abandoned for the sovereignty of the preacher to make his point. Modeling proper biblical hermeneutics is more important than getting to a point the audience will 'amen'. Our job as preachers and teachers is nothing if it is not modeling how to hear and dispense what is taught in the word of truth, in love, to the glorification of Christ.

The one who speaks in a tongue builds up himself, but the one who prophesies builds up the church.
...
So with yourselves, if with your tongue you utter speech that is not intelligible, how will anyone know what is said? For you will be speaking into the air. There are doubtless many different languages in the world, and none is without meaning, but if I do not know the meaning of the language, I will be a foreigner to the speaker and the speaker a foreigner to me.

“Hear then the parable of the sower: When anyone hears the word of the kingdom and does not understand it, the evil one comes and snatches away what has been sown in his heart. This is what was sown along the path. As for what was sown on rocky ground, this is the one who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy, yet he has no root in himself, but endures for a while, and when tribulation or persecution arises on account of the word, immediately he falls away. As for what was sown among thorns, this is the one who hears the word, but the cares of the world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and it proves unfruitful. As for what was sown on good soil, this is the one who hears the word and understands it. He indeed bears fruit and yields, in one case a hundredfold, in another sixty, and in another thirty.”

Unfortunately instead of exposition, the pastor used his reference time to redeliver the subject KJ text paraphrased in modern vernacular according to his own limited understanding... and added some unnecessary and irrelevant political quips to appease and entertain the audience. There is hope they will use better translations and devote energy to exposition; they desire to hear the word of God while denying the authority of scripture for the sake of tradition. May God grant us all humility and repentance from false doctrine as it is corrosive to the fabric of our fellowships and detrimental to the fabric of civil society.
