Marshall Family Medicine

I have a few doctors at Marshall Family Medicine over the years but Dr. Zachary Stone Davis is the best physician I have had over the years. He is a very kind mannered young man who listens to every word you say and when you complain of something he does not write it off as just someone who is getting older in their years and will have aches and pains. He really listens and if he weren't for him I could have had some serious issues if he had not used his professionalism and sent me to the right people to find out what was wrong with me. When I first started seeing Dr. Davis I was mostly in a hoveround not doing much of any activity but with his encouragement and helping me get back to being healthy I was finally out of that chair and eventually I was walking 1 mile a day and even going to the gym to exercise. I have lost a total of 92 pounds because of him and the other doctors at Marshall Health and I couldn't have done it without them. I still have some issues going on with my health but those are being addressed and regardless I am much healthier because of these doctors and nurses at Marshall. I have never meet a full complete staff of nurses, office personnel at the front desk who have such a gentle sweet mannerisms in dealing with patients such as myself, than these Marshall employees. They always seem to be so happy, smiling and joking with each other. You can tell they enjoy their work and the patients they see. My PCP, Dr. Zachary Davis, is going to be leaving in June and it will be such a sad day. I hate to see him go and for Marshall to lose such a wonderful caring physician is going to be a big loss for them. We all love Dr. Davis here at Marshall and I know his new patients of where it is going is going to love him just as well. It's too bad he isn't staying here as I have put all my trust in him as I know other patients of his has, and we all will be saddened to see him leave. Marshall Family Medicine has some big shoes to fill upon his departure and I hope whoever comes can fill those shoes but there will never be anyone who will be able to replace him. Marshall Family Medicine is my health care place and I will never go anywhere else. These are the greatest doctors here at Marshall no matter what department they are in. Wonderful physicians and nurses throughout.

This review is for our experience with Ms. Kelli R. Spurlock, MSN, APRN, FNP-C at Marshall Family Medicine Huntington WV. Upon meeting her we immediately felt very welcomed and comfortable. My partner has really bad anxiety when it comes to medical appointments and Ms. Spurlock was simply so warm, friendly and very sweet. Coming in the room she had a good demeanor despite her busy day, she listened patiently as we expressed the reason for the visit, she asked many detailed questions to help assess the situation, she was thorough with the appointment/check up and just overall great patient care. She also got the medicine ordered immediately that we were able to pick it up from Marshall Pharmacy within the hour and not have to come back. Oftentimes before usually some patients have to come back because the medication wasn't ordered yet. Thankful for Ms. Spurlock. I wish I remembered who assisted her that day coz the lady was very nice as well during our visit. Update: The nurse that assisted with the visit is Hayley and she was awesome too! Great attitude, friendly and was fun to talk to. My partner needed to get a shot during that visit and he hates needles but Hayley did so well at making him comfortable and he didn't even feel a thing. Thanks again Ms.Kelli and Ms. Hayley for the great patient care.

As odd as it feels to review a doctors’ office, I have to say this place is fantastic. My pcp works here and is beyond amazing. Im not the best about making regular appointments, but the walk-in clinic is a godsend. I’ve never had to wait; the staff is not only professional but incredibly friendly.

I went to the clinic to have some bloodwork in preparation for an appointment with my pcp later the same month. The student doctor was wonderful, knowledgable, and funny. The attending was the same, and personally gave me a call after business hours to tell me the results of my labs because she was still at the office. It was such a simple and surprising gesture, but so kind.

I honestly think this is the perfect model for family medicine. It was novel to me when I discovered it years ago, and Im still impressed with every experience. Can’t recommend highly enough.

Do not believe every review you’ll read of Marshall Family Medicine. Dr. Lyons was exceptionally kind, patient, and understanding. I was weary to make an appointment because of some of the reviews on this clinic but I’m very glad I did. If you come with a genuine issue, the doctors will compensate as best as possible.

I have Dr.Jackson he is amazing he listened to me alot of doctors don't both times I have had to use the walk in clinic those doctors were amazing also I am so glad I have doctors that listen to me

Great place

Wonderful and helpful doctors and nurses but I have never been made to feel more like an inconvenience than calling to ask questions about my appointment. The receptionist I encountered over the phone was rude, made me feel like an inconvenience, and sounded extremally annoyed.

Was told by a nurse to just stop my thyroid medication because I told her the dosage was too high and that I needed labs so they could adjust it appropriately. I brought my twins to my appointment and Dr laport said " I have kids too, but they're at daycare " which obviously she's at her job and i was at an appointment so, there's a clear difference there. I asked multiple times to be tested for diabetes because of my symptoms and she ignored that and instead ordered testing to confirm my already diagnosed asthma. I asked multiple times for one of my diagnosis to be put into my chart and they never did. They very very rarely answer the phone, it's super inconvenient. When you leave a voice-mail they seem to call back more than 24 to 48 hours later. I've never had a doctor that was this hard to get ahold of. She also prescribed me a new medication and then told me to come back in 2 to 3 months..then the receptionist told me to call back later to schedule. I had a terrible experience there and won't be back.

The doctors seem great, although with students we always see someone new. However when we received bills for what was meant to be our yearly checkups I was surprised. I have been met with nothing but rude and incompetent people trying to get it fixed.
I was advised by the office manager once that the practitioner would correct their note and re-bill, handling the error. This never happened though, in fact I never heard from her again and was just treated like garbage by their billing office and told there’s nothing to be done but pay the bill.

I thought I was finally getting somewhere. Dr. Lyon seemed great so I switched him to my pcm. He made a plan but only executed a quarter of it. 3 medications he said he was prescribing never got sent. Ive called multiple times and left messages. I got one call back but the answer was "I don't know let me ask" and I still never got a response. Out of desperation i went to the walk in clinic for help and all they did was send me out after i told them i had 3 pinched merves and what dr lyon had been prescribing to help. So every day I suffer and am currently looking for a more reliable Dr.

rude, talks down to patients, I finally left when he accused me of cussing at his Nurse which I didn't... he has talked down to me for several years , I put up with it until this last time..poor bedside manners.. doesn't like strong women...constantly cut me down for a piece of navel jewelry I have had for years, anything to make me feel uncomfortable. I am a healthy, fit, educated older woman. I have never had a Doctor this rude.

This is the absolute worst doctors office I have ever been to!! I had an appointment for 3:00PM for my COPD check-up and medicines, I arrived at 2:50PM, was called back to a room at around 3:30PM but was not seen. I sat in a room until 5:30PM, I came out and asked the "Lady" at the desk how much longer it was going to be and informed her I was having a rough time breathing, her response was I could always leave, I did not have to stay. I tried to file a complaint but only got to verbally speak to someone so I know the complaint wont go anywhere. I now get to go without my breathing medications until I can find a clinic that actually cares about their patients time, care and well being.

After blood test, our doctor never reply the phone call. need to have approve for my medcine, never heard back. I have no idea what to do. Felt like my $700 blood test for nothing. Now im out of my daily mdecine, still no answer to me.
