I highly recommend this school and stand by this school %100. I currently have two children at whittier and they are exceeding way beyond my expectations and that is because the teachers and all the hard work they put in. I absolutely love how in the mornings the principal and staff greet the kids as they walk in giving hugs and high fives! My kiddos have homework Monday- Thursday and it is never excessive and never overwhelming. Of course good grades equals more money for the school and that money helps get better books for library, computers and more staff to better our children which will provide a better future. When is that ever a bad thing? This school is amazing and I would never send my child to a school that was failing because then I would be failing my children. We have the choice to send them to any school and Whittier would still be the school we choose. Not to mention Whittier is nominated as a blue ribbon school and currently Amarillo has 8 blue ribbon schools of 233 in Texas! extremely proud my children are apart of that and they are bronco proud! Whittier keep up the good work and we are behind you all the way!!!

The staff at Whittier, from the Principal to the support staff, genuinely care for their students year round. The consideration given to the care of the building, the curriculum, to each interaction with students is intentional and meaningful. This is why Whittier was recognized on a National level in the 2017-2018 academic year. The staff continues to push their students to rise to surpass any expectation because they know that the students can achieve more than anyone gives them credit for. The work ethic and knowledge imparted by these educators will help carry their students far into the future if they continue to keep their efforts high.

Not too impressed with this school. Our first child went to Oakdale, I wish we had both of our kids going there now. He isn't liking the school much either. In kinder he had homework and here at Whittier they don't send homework and then tell you your kid needs tutoring. If they would send home work for them we would definitely work with them so they wouldn't need tutoring. So far that's my main complaint. This is our first year here, hopefully it will improve next year.

I think this is the worst school in Amarillo! My fourth grader has so much homework Monday through Sunday he does not even get to be a kid. The teachers are rude and do not even get me started on the princapal. This school worries so much about keeping their test scores high they could care less about the children. I have a second grader that goes there also and she use to love school and was a straight A student till she started going their and now I have to force her to go every day. I have never seen my children so unhappy at a school in my life. I wish they would get some people in there that actually care about the kids and not about some stupid score, these are kids not a point on the test score.
