David Hopper, MD

Excellent

Dr. Hopper has been my primary care physician more than 10 years during which time he’s actively diagnosed my illnesses as verified by his recommended specialists in cardiology and urology. With a down to earth demeanor and common sense approach he listens attentively then moves in the proper direction. I’m very satisfied with his office personnel, quick logging online of any bloodwork and prompt response to pharmaceutical requests. Overall I rate Dr. Hopper 4 stars along with my personal recommendation to others.

If I could give him no stars I would. I originally was a patient with Dr. Emerson and due to his retirement, we began seeing Dr. Hopper. We heard about his subpar bedside manner, but decided to form our own opinion. I was going to see Dr. Hopper for a regular check up visit and speak with him in regard to my postpartum depression, anxiety, and panic attacks. The entire appointment I was trying to fight back tears. I would try and say something and he held his hand up insinuating that I need to stop talking. I was expressing concerns that my medication wasn’t working and I needed help. I told him I didn’t think he was hearing what I was saying. He slams his hands on his desk and rolls his eyes at me. He also told me that he couldn’t help with what I needed and if I had a panic attack I needed to go to the emergency room. Yes, you read that correctly. The amount and depth of aftercare for a mother postpartum is alarming and it’s no wonder the suicide rates are so high. No one is listening. I will no longer be seeing him as a general physician and I am currently seeking resources for the other postpartum areas I need help with. I understand that might not be his area of expertise, but the tone and manner of which he handled the situation was terrible and disturbing. It’s not about what you say, but how you say it and offering other avenues or resources are solutions as well. I also would not have let a patient as hysterical as myself, clearly in distress and divulging that I need help for my mental health, leave or not check on me as they did. I can’t imagine if I was a different person in a darker place what would have or could have happened. Please do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. He’s misogynistic and only likes to hear himself talk. Do better.
