Alexander & Margaret Partridge are buried in the Sand Ridge Cemetery. Captain Alexander Partridge, donated the land for the Upper Free Bridge. Captain Partridge insisted that the bridge be usable free of charge (and hence, its name). The tombstones for the Partridges were carved by their son-in-law Joseph Petarde. Joseph Petarde was hired to build the Upper Free Bridge. Petarde a native of Rome, Italy, was widely known throughout the Peoria area as a sculpture.
