The Custer Wolf - Food & Drink

This place came highly recommended by a local in another shop. He was right - everything here looks amazing. We ordered the fish and chips and the buffalo sandwich. This is not your average sandwich!! The buffalo is a bison brisket slow cooked and shredded and it was awesome. Fish was perfect. They make everything in house, including many condiments on the sandwiches. Great selection of beer on tap. Next door is a great gift shop - don't miss it.

Everything that I had that day in this restaurant was insanely delicious. I had no idea onion soup and coconut rice can be so good, glad I gave it a try. I knew I will like the fish (walleye chermoula) but the sause on top of it brought it to the next level.

We had the pleasure of getting taken care of by Chloe, and she helped us out at every turn. Even when we ordered just 1 onion ring.
However the smoked trout blt, the portobello sandwich and the beef bulgogi hit the spot for our dinner needs.
An overall excelent experience.

The food was exceptional!! What's even better was the Hostess and the server we had. Jason was so friendly and helpful with the menu. He checked back with us often and had just enough time to tell us about events happening this weekend, such as the hot air balloons going up tomorrow morning. Thanks for making this such great lunch experience!! We will be back!

A bit of a wait to be seated. We really liked the food we got and the portions were pretty decent too! Bread pudding and beef bulgogi were the favorite dishes.

Great food and great service. Staff was super friendly, and service was quick. Always nice to have dog friendly spots that are also really good when road tripping.

Incredible meal and service! Dog friendly patio. The hand-breaded chicken tenders and walleye were both incredible. Do not miss out on their bread pudding for dessert!!!

Great food. Bummed we couldn't get a table, even though tables were available.
We split the braised Buffalo sandwich and fries. Really good! We also split a bread pudding, which was also very good. Their menu is crazy cool. No doubt everything is delicious.

Food here was delicious!! The service was amazing and I wish we could go back! They offer a nice menu with decent pricing to start. Very nice dining with a awesome book shelf with games to play while waiting. All of our food was perfect. The restaurant is also connected to a very neat store!

Great food, and cute patio with downtown views and flower boxes! :) The fried green beans appetizer was so freakin' good!! And the sauces were a perfect compliment to these "fries." Could eat them all day! We both had the BLT pasta - also very good. I had this with chicken, my mother had this with shrimp. Keep in mind, they don't take reservations. We assumed we would need one because of the holiday weekend - we tried calling several times, but no one answered the phone. Custer is pretty small though, so it was easy enough to stop by and ask on our way through town. They recommended we arrive around 5 or a little before if we wanted to avoid the dinner rush. So we did...and sure enough, perfect timing to not have to wait for a patio table. :) Would definitely recommend, and would go back if I were to visit Custer again.

Wow! Great food and what pleasant staff! My kids repeatedly said they couldn't believe how friendly everyone was.

If you're visiting the area our family highly recommends you check them out! The prices are a little higher, but the food and atmosphere was well worth it!

Also, there wasn't a dessert section on the menu, but ask! We had a 3 layer chocolate cake slice and bread pudding. The kids LOVED the bread pudding and the mister and I enjoyed sharing the cake.

Again, highly recommend!

Great experience! Delicious food, good prices and yummy drinks. Our server was very attentive and nice. The space was clean and comfortable. If we go back to this area we would definitely stop by again.

A great restaurant a short drive from the Crazy Horse monument. Both indoor and outdoor dining is available. The service is great and the restaurant is kept clean.

The food was excellent, the Po boy was delicious with the fish being cooked just right. There is a parking lot close by with many spaces available.

We had a great meal. The food is fresh, and prepared to order. We had to wait a bit (they were pretty busy) but it was worth the wait.

We had the falafel burger with side salad. The burger was laced with garlic and very tasty. We also had the pasta Alfredo with spinach and shrimp. It may not have been the best Alfredo sauce I've ever had but it was definitely very tasty.

Loved it! Busy little place, good food super friendly staff! Menu changes all the time so it may not be what u see on Google. Would totally come back if we come thru again!

Exceeded all expectations!!! Everything was perfect and tasteful. The Mango Cider was delicious. And, yes, it really is the best bread pudding I've ever tasted. The service was great and the atmosphere was cozy and welcoming.

Absolutely incredible! Service staff is outstanding. So attentive and personable. Have to rave about our server, Lily. I wish most places had somebody as fantastic as she is. Smiley, great recommendations, both great menu and regionals travel advice. The food almost renders you speechless savoring every bite. The onion rings and jalapeno bacon burger should get Food Network attention because they are utterly phenomenal. Definitely worth the stop!

Best restaurant experience in years. Amazing staff and delicious food cooked to perfection. They even have a cozy atmosphere and a shelf filled with board games which made it the perfect date for my daughter and I. Also, best chicken strips I've ever eaten, and they were from the kids menu!! #thetravelingsavagesinc

The wagyu steak and the side salad with the cilantro vinaigrette was to die for!! We went there for dinner both of the days that we were in Custer! That’s how good it was! The next day, I tried their shrimp pasta and it was still very delicious! I really wish there was a restaurant like that in my town! Even the chicken tenders that came with the kids meal were good! It tasted fresh and I can tell they really make sure they’re giving us the best produce and ingredients! Must try!
