Wonderful, hot, affordable breakfast. Fun decor for kids and families. They were short staffed like everywhere, but the staff was wonderful, friendly and helped each other out. We were only there an hour total for a party of 6 but it was worth a little wait for the good pancakes, French toast, bacon, hash browns and biscuit and gravy platters. Hot coffee continuously topped off. Will support this business again.

Dakota Cowboy is a local favorite serving meals all day long. With a ton of cowboy hats hanging on the walls inside, very friendly staff, quick meals and great prices for good portions, it's no wonder so many people come here. Biscuits and gravy were delicious, but most of their food is great anyways so definitely worth going in and trying at some point if you're around.

We had the cheese crispy appetizer and I had Maverick Burger and everything was quite tasty and the atmosphere was rustic and quaint.

I ate here for breakfast while staying in Custer. The food was excellent and the staff were great.

Great service from Oshane from Jamaica, best bacon ever. Pancakes out of this world. Definitely a place to stop.

We ate there for 4 mornings as it was close to our hotel and the food was amazing. However, we had the same waitress all 4 days. Today, she forgot our pops, we had to ask and the pop was warm and not carbonated. The food was good but she never apologized someone else had to get us our pops, never came back to check if we needed anything more or if food was okay. We waited 15 mins for our bill and had to go up and ask. Needless to say no tip today.

Food was fine! We all got the chicken fried steaks they were crispy and fresh and hot. Eggs Toast and browns were fine. ... but .... the service from the taller of the 2 young boys was absolutely hilarious we had a good laugh he was just adorable. Kept forgetting what he was doing (he's young and learning) it made our morning over breakfast so funny.- my daughter says 5 stars mom lol- and I agree! Very polite and respectful- hats off to his mom ;) thank you for breakfast. Our next time in town we will be back.

I've eaten here a few times over the past couple of months. The chicken fried steak with real mashed potatoes and white gravy. The breaded shrimp 🦐 are plump and delicious! I love the atmosphere and decor. The staff has always been very friendly. Feels like home & I'll return every chance that I get.

We had the Senior menu and I had shrimp and hubby had chicken fried steak.. it was good.

Cute place with really good food. Suffering from lack of staffing, like so many places are. But the food is worth waiting for your table, the coffee is good, the owner/manager is attentive and the servers are doing their best. I admire the teamwork. We tried to go back again but they're closed on Monday - breakfast anyway. Thanks for a great Father's Day breakfast ♥

Visited first time due to close to campground. We were first ones there at 11am girls were busy getting stuff ready so gentelman that seemed owner quickly seated us. Food came out on time.

Ordered the cobb salad, good presentation and portion. Tasted even better. My son ordered a steak and fries and loved it. Girls working tables very attentive.Will visit again soon.

We had party of seven for breakfast. We were quickly greeted and seated. All the orders came out exactly as we'd asked and the food was hot and delicious. Yvonne, our server, made sure we were taken care of with true hospitality. And there is a gift store near entrance. I got photo cards of animals and scenery from the area taken by local artist.

Great breakfast spot in Custer! Super friendly service. All the standard family breakfast favs with the option of a short stack of Belgian waffles instead of toast. Fun change up. Decor is simple with cowboy hats hanging up. There was an artist in residence with beautiful photos for sale in the gift shop area.

Nice family restaurant. Very affordable. There were 6 adults and 5 kids under 10 and our bill was $98.00. Great food and fast service. Plenty of seating. Lots of cowboys forget their hats here... So be sure to remember your hat when you leave. Free parking and clean bathrooms. They have a big gift shop too.

Small town, rural area, not many breakfast choices... but Dakota Cowboy was just what we needed! Ordered scrambled eggs, crispy bacon, hashbrowns, a pancake, and mini Belgian waffles! Food was delicious and the staff was genuinely friendly and helpful. The restaurant itself is western all the way! From the cowboy host who seats you, and the thick brown mugs of coffee, to the western memorabilia throughout the building you won't be disappointed. Be sure to stop by for some good western hospitality!

The food was excellent, service was good. Steve does a good job of providing what the customer wants. We made a suggestion in our previous visit to offer a green chile smothered burrito, but he didn't have one on the menu, until today, as a special !! Good job, Steve, listening to your customers. Service a bit slow to start but once we got waited on it flowed very smoothly, food was delivered fast and the food was excellent. Would definitely go back as what we had was worth the very small wait. Very friendly people as well.

We have eaten here dozens of times over the past 8 years and have never once had a bad meal or bad service. We enjoy many of the items on their extensive menu. We suggest that you just try it out.

AWESOME! We stayed in the area 4 days..and ate here 4 times...it was excellent everytime, waitstaff extremely friendly, food came out fast, good down home cooking, huge portions for the price..absolutely satisfied with both breakfast and dinner experiences. Will recommend to anyone going near Custer..and if we are in area again...we will definitely return to my favorite restaurant in the blackhills
