Main Moon Chinese Restaurant (Salem)

This place isn't a sit and hangout spot. It's a call in for pickup place. That being said. Everything is delicious. General Tsos chicken gives you plenty of meat. Wife loves the Won ton soup. Egg rolls have various bases.

Me and my family are new to Salem and we love Main Moon. Even the 2 yr. old likes it! We know it's always going to be a treat! We just wish they'd deliver!

Large portions, great tasting. Reasonable prices. Large menu. Take out only. Excellent eggrolls! Takes about twenty minutes from order to pick up. Excellent flavoring. Several tables if you choose to eat it n. Can not sit a large party. Located in the scnd street plaza.

Hands down, the best Chinese food within a 30 mile + radius...

I have been coming here since I was a kid, and the food has always stayed the same and in light of recent events that have took place in early 2020, forcing the store to close for a couple months, I'm not sure if I just missed their food that much or or if It got better, despite the SAME family owning it, cooking the food and running the place for the last 20-25+ years!

Things I personally order

1. *General Tso's chicken combo with rice and eggroll*

One thing that sets this place apart from other chinese carry outs food wise, is that in their entree combos, by default they serve their delicious pork fried rice, rather than bland white rice like some competitors do..

2. Quart sized beef and broccoli and/or chicken and broccoli. (Automatically comes with about a half of a pint of white rice).

3. *Their Steamed Dumplings are AMAZING!* Definitely the best I've EVER had from a Chinese restaurant and the mark I compare all others to!..

Now here's the important 'secret menu item' that you have to remember...
Ask for 2x(or however many your heart desires) "dumpling sauce"... They cost either .25 or .50 per sauce and I believe they only established a price on them after I used to go in and ask for 6+ sauce cups so everyone in my family of 5 could enjoy it. 🙂

It is a homemade sauce, it is very similar to soy sauce in color, texture (although not as runny), and appropriate uses, but taste wise it is a thousand times better, I've yet to find someone to try it who didn't agree. I use it on my rice, my chicken, I dip my egg rolls in them, and of course the above mentioned dumplings, hahaha...

We had Main Moon cater our tea ceremony. The food was great, especially the Singapore noodles. We had lots of people ask where the food was from so that they knew where to go the next time they wanted good Chinese food.

I order carryout all the time. The lady that answers the phone is real nice. My food is exactly as ordered and fresh! Their crab rangoons are my favorite menu item. =)

Best General Tsos. Period. Better than every other Chinese restaurant in the area plus most in the rest of the country.
