Petra's Bistro & Wine Bar

Not a typical wine bar setup, but still have great wine and food nonetheless. Our waiter is very helpful. The food style is about subtle flavor and letting the fresh ingredients shine and it's done really well. (not sure if the chef will change anything about that when summer is over and skiers come and look for more hearty pleasure)

If you are wanting a sit down dinner in Mammoth, go to Petra. It has all the vibes of a cozy intimate sit down high end house, but without the stuck up nature they come with.

They have the largest wine selection in mammoth, James will guide you through the extensive menu, and if you are lucky enough might join you for a glass.

You can order anything on the menu and not go wrong, but if you want the highlights and order like a local; duck confit, butternut squash gnocchi, crispy Brussels, mushrooms, Coq Au Vin.

Always ask if Tony can wait your table, but considering he’s a popular guy, request ahead.

Mammoth has plenty of restaurants, stop debating and call them because they’ll be booked anytime.

First time in Mammoth and ate at a couple of other restaurants in the area the previous 2 nights. Petra's is my favorite out of the 3, but it was also the most expensive. We had the Salmon Trio, the Caesar salad, the clams and the Salmon entree. All of the food was very good and the waiter Tony was very nice.

Great atmosphere and amazing staff! Adam and Kendi were the best! They were so kind and accommodating. I loved the text for reservations and adjustments. Great food and drinks! The appetizers were soo good, I almost didn’t need an entree!

Interesting menu with delicious appetizers and shares. Huge selection of wines and cocktails. Awesome service and atmosphere 👍 will definitely go back next time I am in Mammoth Lakes again.

Really happy with the food, the atmosphere, and the service. I was torn between the duck and the bolognese, so I got both. I recommend you ask the server if they can do an entree of the Duck Confit. The legs are cooked perfectly and the risotto compliments it wonderfully. The bolognese hits the spot if you’re craving pasta with a nice meat sauce. The portions are healthy so come hungry.

The Grilled Octopus with browned butter was my favorite. Everything was delicious. The best part of this dining experience was their service and Brandon went above and beyond with kindness and professionalism. He gave us some great suggestions and I look forward to going back.

Amazing food. Located at the Alpenhof Lodge, across the street from the Canyons Center, this is old world atmosphere coupled with a modern culinary approach.

As a local it is nice to take the lady to a nice establishment every once in a while for “Date Night”
Petra’s never fails… we were courteously greeted by Michelle and James, followed by our waiter Andy who was both courteous and knowledgeable. Andy helped pair the perfect wines for our clams and our steak. We were even granted the pleasure of meeting Chef Nelly who came to our table just to check on our meal. It was both a pleasure and an honor to speak with the head chef about our experience. 11/10 would recommend to a friend,out of towner, and/or foodie.
Overall an amazing atmosphere, delectable eats, and a friendly staff who will welcome you wholeheartedly!

Decadent sophisticated menu, and romantic atmosphere. Everything was delicious, and they have amazing happy hour specials. On weekends and holidays, best to make reservations. When I got here they were already booked for the whole evening. Sat at the bar since I am traveling solo.

5 stars restaurant, food is delicious and prepared with care, fresh produce and amazing presentation. The staff was great, our service dog Comet enjoyed treats and 5⭐ service! Will definitely be back. Well done, keep it up. Best restaurant in Mammoth!!

Went on opening day and tables were booked out till 9pm. Got a spot at the bar and ordered a bunch of share plates and appetizers. Duck confit and the lemon poppy seed goat cheese cheese cake were phenomenal. If you are an olive person, you gotta try their fried anchovy stuffed olives. Will be back and hopefully try to get a table.

Extensive wine menu. Knowledgeable and professional staff. Superb. Absolutely superb food. We had the salmon and chicken dishes and topped it off with the mousse and homemade ice cream for dessert. Delicious! Our server, Andy, was excellent! Gave a perfect wine pairing for my meal! Thank you for a beautiful evening! Petra’s is a must-visit for a beautiful evening in Mammoth.

This was our last stop from a 3 week motorcycle trip and we wanted a really epic meal. Petra's did NOT disappoint! This is a well-rounded experience of excellence. Staff are attentive yet chill. Food was absolutely delicious. We had the duck w/polenta, trio of salmon and gnocchi. For drinks we had a couple of their specialty martinis and a half bottle of the Amarone. Atmosphere is cozy and fun with character. Feels like one of the special spots in Mammoth Lakes to hit up!

After 10 years of going to mammoth, 2022 was the first time I tried this spot. It was so fun, the manager really knew wine and made it so fun to figure out what bottle we wanted. The steak was really delicious. Loved this spot

Lovely service and outstanding food. Prices on the high end, though you want be disappointed with the quality. Like an awesome restaurant they listen to my intolerances and worked with them. Anyone looking for a fancy place to eat in mammoth this place need to go on your list!!! If you can place a booking highly suggest. We didn’t but we waiting a while and got a seat at the bar. Which was lovely 🥰

We've been to Petra's multiple times over the past year, and every time we have been so impressed with the quality of the food, the fantastic drinks, and the excellent wine. However, all that pales in comparison to the outstanding service. The people who work at Petra's are always so happy and friendly and quick to chat when things are slow. It really makes the experience something special. Thanks again!

What a great spot! The food is delicious - no detail is missed. My short ribs were “melt in your mouth” perfect, and my husband’s steak was perfection. Ahi poke tacos are so flavorful - a perfect little starter. The wine list is great - it features a ton of small, CA wineries, and the staff is well-trained on all of them. All in all, this is one of our new favorite places in Mammoth!

We arrived and there was a confusion about our reservation. Petra’s did what a great customer centric business should do, and made it right. They found us a place and we had an exceptional meal! And this is why when I make a reservation for lodging in Mammoth my next phone call and is to Petra’s for a reservation. I luv everything about this place food, drinks and service. ❤
