Shea Schat's Bakery

Such a cool European/medieval castle look on the outside, cute inside as well. But the pastries/desserts were sooo good. The cupcakes are delicious with such a nice whipped cream frosting that wasn’t too sweet! We also had a macaroon and it was delicious. I had never seen chocolate honeycombs before and the staff member that helped us actually gave me one to taste because I had asked what they were. Great service, great food, great vibe! We accidentally stumbled on this bakery and we will definitely be going back!!

This bakery is super cute and offers such a great range of baked goods, confectioneries, soups and sandwiches. They also offer fresh squeezed juice and coffee drinks. Everyone can find something delicious here. It’s located conveniently close to the slopes so makes a great option for a quick bite before or between snow sessions. We tried their cabiatta bread, cheese and fruit danishes, turkey sandwiches and everything tasted exceptional. They prices are higher than average. One danish was over $4!

The bread we got here was absolutely delicious and so was the fruit eclair! The fresher squeezed orange juice was a bit outrageous ($7 for a small cup) but very yummy!

The bakery has a multitude of options to choose from. They serve breakfast croissants that are MASSIVE! The doughnuts were made perfectly and tasted wonderful. Who I presume was the owner, made sure that the tongs did not touch any other goods with nuts in case someone had a nut allergy. The employees are friendly

There are no pre made sandwiches, as you may expect if you’re familiar with Schatt’s bakery in Bishop, but everything is just as fresh and made to order.
It’s a little pricier than I expected, but I guess it’s Mammoth tax, it was still worth it.
The sando comes with a huge chocolate chip cookie and a pickle spear, we enjoyed all the accompaniments!

Came here for breakfast sandwiches. I got smoked ham and my bf got sausage. Amazing! The eggs were so fluffy! The ham was sliced thin, which I loved! The croissants they were in were super fresh and delicious. Also got some fresh squeezed orange juice. We were hoping to get deli sandwiches for later but that doesn’t open until 9am, which is understandable.

Update: we ate here twice on our last visit. Once for lunch, and then again for breakfast the next morning. Their sandwiches are just amazing! The meat and bread is made and carved right there and you really can’t beat it. The staff are so kind and helpful, even when it’s busy. A very young man helped us with our lunch sandwiches and made sure we had fresh bread, and made us feel like they want everyone to have the best ingredients.

Enjoyed the variety of pastries, donuts, jams, jellies and preserves. They also have coffee and many types of breads to choose from. Will definitely stop by on my next visit to mammoth. I had visited the store they have in bishop and didn’t know they had another store here. Both stores have different items so I recommend both locations but this one for their pastries and donuts 😍😍😍

Sandwich shop is 5 stars, bakery is 4. Sandwich shop prices are decent, bakery is over priced, and the donuts are lousy. (Look nice but stale) Sandwiches are great, will come again in the future. Restrooms are nice. Staff are fine. Plenty of parking. Entrance, restrooms, seating, and counter are accessible.

There’s two of these bakeries and they are BOTH amazing! One is in Bishop and the other is in Mammoth. We got a mixture of desserts from the one in Mammoth and today we tried the sandwiches from the one in Bishop. We ate everything before I could take some pics!! They bake the bread, the turkey for the sandwiches is sliced from a turkey rotisserie right in front of you! I mean just AMAZING! They have so many options and the prices are reasonable. Stop here as many times as you can. Try EVERYTHING!

Lunch for 3. It was great. We sat on the patio and enjoyed a great meal on our way home from mammoth.

OMG...wish I knew about this place earlier. Top notch bakery. Great pastries all fresh and huge selection. They have great coffee and freshly squeezed orange juice. Great service. No outdoor sitting now.

I recommend this bakery as a stop by on the way to whatever your tourist attraction may be while visiting Mammoth Lake. The coffee is really good and there is so many sweets/treats and donuts to choose from as well.

I thought this would be one of those overrated touristy places. I was surprised that the doughnuts were incredible (apple fritter and bear claw). We sampled some of their ciabatta bread and it was the I ever had. Next time, I will have to try their sandwiches. Unfortunately, being a breakfast and lunch place, you can't get the Sammy after skiing.
Note, have been back for a sandwich. Bakery is still excellent, the sandwich shop is not bad but nothing to write home about.

The one is Bishop is a definite must stop on your way up. However, this one is our favorite. The heart of Mammoth and for good reason. The bread is from another planet! Exceptional! If you love sourdough like us and want to taste the best this is a must stop. They have terrific fresh OJ each morning and a pastry selection that is mouth watering. The soup and sandwiches are a great way to get something for the road. Especially in the colder months. So good, we brought bread back for friends who asked us to half-jokingly. Manager, pastry chef and staff are friendly and more importantly, in the know.

What a wonderful bakery. First started in Bishop, CA then open Mammoth location 20 years ago. Great sandwiches and fresh baked eveything.

Weather it’s a sandwich, Turkey on Ciabatta!, or something sweet, Doughnuts - Pastries - Cakes- Mocha Lattes. You will not be disappointed. Schat’s is a must do when in Mammoth. Seams like they’ve been here forever. Always a friendly smile when we go in for our fix.

We got the egg and bacon croissant and some donuts and everything was amazing. I 100% recommend.

Best place in mammoth to get all kinds of treats. It was a little busy when I went in the middle of the day but it still had what I wanted. Staff was nice and the transaction was pleasant. Overall I liked this place!

My most favorite place in mammoth so far! Great selection of bakery items with healthy sandwiches and soups. I was like a kid in a candy shop , took me a while to select my macarons and did I make the right choice! It was so delicious and fresh. The lady at counter was little straight faced but rest of staff was very friendly. They also have a great selection of breads . Definitely recommend 😊

Don’t miss this place for a quick bite! Wonderful homemade donuts, bear claws, and pastries. The bread is delicious, and they have several savory varieties. If you are there 9-3 try the sandwich shop. The dark meat turkey (on any bread) is just a damn good sandwich. Most restaurants in town include sprouts and really nice, fresh veggies on their sandwich offerings, and Schat’s is no exception. Yes, it’s a $10 sandwich, but it’s great.
