Cool little park with a historic apple orchard on it but the main attraction is the river that runs beside it. When we went the water was 42 degrees F so it was a bit too chilly for swimming. Would definitely like to visit again I the summer!

Beautiful park! We enjoyed walking around on the rocks near the water. Gorgeous views. We visited on a weekday in March and it was not super crowded, which was nice. You could spend a whole day there if you want to hang out and enjoy the area, or stop for a couple hours like we did and take in the beauty!

Super cool 'side of the road' park/attraction.
The drive up into the area is gorgeous, lots of twists and turns, so be careful, but enjoy the ride.
Once you arrive, there is a 10$ fee, but it's well worth it regardless if you're staying an hour.. or the whole days.
Side rock is really not like anything I've ever been to.
The water flows freely, and there are several naturally carved 'slides' that you ride.. There is always a spot to take a leap into the pools. I would recommend anyone going to the area to add it to your stop list.

Spent a couple hours here. It was cool but sunny! People were enjoying the water. We just walked trails around the area and enjoyed the stop here! Would love to come back when warmer and check out the water experience!!

This place is absolutely awesome. Very cool picnic areas and the river is super refreshing. Will absolutely come back!

I have visited Sedona's Slide Rock State Park many, many times and it never gets old. This park is a true gem, offering a variety of activities that cater to nature lovers, adventure seekers, and families alike.
One of the highlights is the wide-open grassy area, which is perfect for picnics. The space is ample, allowing for a peaceful meal surrounded by the breathtaking scenery of Sedona. It's a great spot to relax and soak in the natural beauty or to play some outdoor games with friends and family.
Another delightful feature of the park is the historic apple orchard. Walking through the orchard feels like stepping back in time, and it's fascinating to learn about the area's agricultural history. The presence of these apple trees adds a unique charm to the park, making it more than just a natural retreat.
The old buildings in the park are also worth exploring. They provide a glimpse into the past and help visitors understand the historical significance of the area. These structures add an educational aspect to the visit, making the park a great place for both recreation and learning.
Of course, the main attraction of Slide Rock is the area where people can play in the water and slide down the natural flume. It's an exhilarating experience to slide down the smooth, natural rock formations, and it's refreshing to take a dip in the cool waters on a hot day. This activity is a huge hit among all age groups, from excited kids to adventurous adults. Just be very careful entering the water as it is really easy to slip and fall.
The drive to Slide Rock is also quite special, as you navigate the road through Oak Creek Canyon, each bend in the road offers another spectacular view.
In conclusion, Slide Rock State Park is a must when visiting Sedona. Whether you're looking for a relaxing spot to enjoy a picnic, interested in historical buildings and orchards, or seeking an adventurous water activity, this park has it all. It's a perfect blend of natural beauty, history, and fun, making it an ideal spot for a memorable day out. FYI, Entrance fee is $10.

This is an amazing State Park. It seems a bit expensive for entrance fee, but it was beautiful! We went at end of March, and the weather was lightly snowy, and overcast. This may have been responsible for the smaller crowds which was perfect for us! Of course it was very cold, but there were some daring people still jumping into the freezing water!

One of the most breathtaking places in Arizona! I have been twice and still feel like I didn’t get enough of it! My kids absolutely love it and the slide in the rocks is great! Please please bring gripped water shoes otherwise you will have a very sore bum!

This is a must visit if in the Sedona area. We went late in the day and there was not a lot of people which made it great for taking photos. Even though it was December people were still in the water - which was very cold. Super fun and beautiful place. Parking was not an issue in December. I’m sure it’s packed during warm weather.

Very cool drive. we didn't stop much due to the snow, but it was worth the trip if you were in the area. There are lots of switchbacks asking the drive very fun. We were here on a record snowfall year but got lucky and did not have to drive in any on the roads

Off season so not too many people and plenty parking spots. Super clear water pleasantly running down the red rocks smoothing the edges along the way. Easy to imagine how nice it’d be in the hot summer time. Would be worth a trip.

This place is awesome. The natural beauty of the red rocks is captivating! It's a little hike down to the water but it's definitely worth it. The water is crisply cold and feels great on a hot summer day. I brought my family here while on vacation and they loved it. So much fun! Don't forget to bring some water shoes which you need because of the hard rocks you'll be walking on in the water. Enjoy..

The views of the spectacular red rock faces and canyons, mixed with the astonishing stream bed, and even the ability to pick and eat apples from nearby trees make this a distinct location worthy of a visit. The hike to the water is short and sweet, with restrooms along the way, I've been here TWICE so far and each visit was better than the last, entry fee changes depending on time of visit.

It was very busy but it was extremely fun. There was an area to swim, jump, and multiple slide areas. It is a first come, first serve on the slides, be polite, and patient. It didn't take long to get a turn. There is a market to purchase snacks and souvenirs. For a family of 5, it cost 20 dollars to enter for 2 adults and 3 kids. We had to wait about 20 minutes to enter the park the park holds 200 cars and once filled it is a one out one in it is very busy so it can take up to two hours. There is beautiful scenery, cold water, hiking trails, and some history as you walk to the slide rock are, which is about a 5-10 minute walk from the parking lot. Our family really enjoyed our time there. You can also bring cooler, just no glass containers, easy upset, chairs, and floats. Park rangers are friendly and helpful. Highly recommend it. Oh I also recommend water shoes and shorts.

Best time to go IMO. Summer this place is packed and we wouldn't enjoy it as much. Amazing views and one of the most beautiful areas in the world

Slide Rock is an absolute must if you are in Sedona - it is a wonderful place to visit any time of the year.
Slide Rock is justifiably crowded during the summer; you can spend time in relaxation (I highly recommend bringing camping chairs!) or having fun riding the natural 'slides' in the river. I would suggest water shoes; be prepared to slip on the very slippery rocks!
The $20+ entry fee seems a bit excessive, but they do a remarkable job keeping this state park clean and the historic buildings well preserved. There are clean inside restrooms and a small cafe/convenience store open during daylight.

Beautiful place to visit. It's not crowded this time a year. Easy access to the swimming area. The views are awesome!

I'm visiting from Toronto, Canada and what a gem of a place this is. You get charged by the car load. $20 for 4 if I remember correctly. Come as earliest as you can to fully enjoy this beautiful place. I just wished I came earlier than I did.
Bring a cooler with food and drinks and maybe an umbrella as the sun can really beat you down. Also bring water shoes as it's slippery in the water and rocks plus rash guard/ sun shirts for the kids to wear as they may brush onto the rocks.
They're no washrooms once you're in the slide rock area so plan you #1, 2 accordingly. You can always go back up to use the restroom but it's a good 15-20 minutes walk depending on where you're coming from and how you're at navigating the terrain.
Enjoy the striking natural beauty of slide rock while sliding in the cool waters.
I will be back the next time I visit Arizona.

Such a cool natural park! The whole experience was a blast, and the views were beyond beautiful!
We hiked down to the water and were able to set up camp to leave our stuff. The rocks were super slippery, so it made going down the slide a breeze. At the end, there's a deeper section to swim and jump in, which was a lot of fun. The water felt so refreshing from the hot sun. Will definitely be back next time I am in the area. It's a beautiful place to spend the day hiking and having fun in the water. Great for families, but I would bring kids old enough to hike a bit. There are some steep areas to navigate.

Unique and enjoyable destination that offers a refreshing twist on traditional river experiences. Nestled amidst stunning rock formations, this park provides a thrilling opportunity to slide down natural water chutes and enjoy the cool waters of Oak Creek.
The river on a rock concept at Slide Rock State Park is truly a delight. The flowing water over smooth rock surfaces creates a thrilling and fun experience for both young and old. The cold water provides a refreshing respite from the heat, and it's heartwarming to see the joy on people's faces, especially kids, as they swim and play in the water.
It's worth noting that Slide Rock State Park can get quite crowded, particularly during weekends and peak seasons. As a result, there may be a wait time of up to 1.5 hours to enter the park, as they only allow cars to enter when parking spots become available. While this can be inconvenient, the overall experience and enjoyment of Slide Rock State Park make it worth the wait.
Despite the crowds, the park's unique river sliding experience, coupled with the stunning natural surroundings, make it a place that is well worth visiting. The combination of adrenaline-pumping water chutes, cool waters, and picturesque rock formations creates a memorable and fun-filled day for visitors.
Overall, Slide Rock State Park is a beloved destination that brings smiles to the faces of both young and old. While it can be crowded and may require some patience to enter, the joy and happiness that come from sliding down the river on a rock make it an experience that is truly worthwhile. If you're seeking a unique and thrilling water adventure in a beautiful natural setting, Slide Rock State Park is definitely a place you won't want to miss.
