Even in the winter, the botanical garden was pretty and especially peaceful. Although much was dead that would have been great to see in the spring, summer, or fall, there were many beautiful trees and flowers inside of the greenhouse space (which was somehow not humid, a definite plus) that were just gorgeous. Trying to find winter-blooming plants among the dead was also fun, and the living foliage we found was still breathtaking.

Outstanding night with the family! Beautiful leisurely walk on a perfect night for late December. UGA team that put this event together did a great job. Excellent flow for both kids and adults. Concessions and restrooms throughout. It was a magical night for everyone. Thanks to everyone associated with the event.

I came here to check out the Porcelain museum and the Gardens, and I couldn't see it all in one day. They had everything set up for Winter Wonderlights (buy tickets for this in advance), and I wish they weren't sold out when I visited, but you can still see the light sculptures and all the holiday lights on the trees. Even during the afternoon it was lovely. A lot had died back for the season in mid-December, but this place was impressive nonetheless. I need to come back to see the rose garden in bloom, too.

We purchased tickets in advance for the 9pm time. Definitely worth buying the vip parking so you don’t have to ride the shuttle bus.
It was a great experience, beautiful lights, music, staff were awesome and friendly! It took us about 55 minutes to walk through. There were hot cocoa and s’mores stations set up if you wanted to purchase them. I couldn’t get over the amount of lights! We will definitely make this a yearly tradition!!

Amazing time! The staff was super friendly and helpful. Also, at every turn, there was a member of the staff which I loved, and I assumed the staff's presence was for the visitors' safety and assistance. It was just an overall beautiful place and experience

Such a beautiful relaxing place to go and take pictures or to throw out a blanket for lunch or soaking up some sun. They even have trails that lead you through the wooded area and river.

I had a great time exploring this botanical garden. I started out exploring the arts museum, which has some unbelievable pieces in it. Then I headed towards the trails and walked some of the white trail along the garden. Finally, when I thought I was just about done, I saw the international garden. It's amazing taking the stroll around that area, which leads to the front of the garden and plenty more to see once you're there.

Absolutely beautiful! From all the flowers and tropical plants to the butterflies everywhere you look! The wildlife and shaded paths to more beauty! This is a must visit place if you are in Athens, Georgia! The indoor facility is cool and naturally oxygenated by all the vegetation. There is a vegetable garden. Children will love the playground and climbing ropes! You could easily spend the day just enjoying nature here! There is also an art museum and chapel.

This place was amazing. Despite the crazy heat, the beauty of nature had me happy to keep exploring. Not to mention it was super quiet and peaceful!
There was plenty parking and the staff there were more than friendly. I'd definitely come back.

Love, love, love these gardens! I have been twice in the last month, bringing family then friends from Atlanta. Worth the drive and a great place to spend the day.

From the ceramics museum to the many gardens to the hiking trails, it makes for a wonderful day outdoors.

Entry is free but bring cash for the donation box in the visitor's center!

The State Botanical Gardens were absolutely stunning for Winter Wonderlights! (12/9/23 @530pm)

My only complaint is the UGA female police officer who yelled at us for stopping to ask for directions. She gets a -3000 stars. We have NEVER been to UGA and we were worried we were lost. So we stopped to ask if we were at the correct location. She yelled at us and was overall RUDE!

Back to the state gardens...I can't wait to go back when it's warmer to enjoy all the scenery.

This is a great experience. It's a walk so there's no rush to keep moving at a certain pace. And the fire pits are good for getting warm.

The lights were wonderful! And so well-planned. As you walk through, you go into different areas, each with its own theme and personality, from playful and silly to just magical. The snow flakes in the tree tops were so lovely.. And the cone tree garden...and everyone loved the rainbow tunnel! Kudos to all the designers and technical folk who made the logistics work! And to all the workers/volunteers we encountered as we strolled through. Well done all! I highly recommend the experience!
