Excellent food, made fresh to order. They have won many awards for their soups and sandwiches! It’s pleasantly located in downtown Southern Pines, surrounded by local shops and scenery. Yum!

Cute little shop and I recommend their soups! The food and service here is amazing. Can't wait to come back!

Amazing restaurant! My partner loves the hot vegetarian, and the grilled ham and cheese is great too. Would recommend for anybody, regardless of dietary choices.

If you go at lunchtime be prepared to wait a while. However, it's totally worth the wait. BEST fries I have had in YEARS!!!!!! Everything was absolutely delicious. I would highly recommend. It's a little pricey but again, totally worth it!!!! Love, love, loved it!!!

My wife and I sat outside in the cozy courtyard watching folks go by on the street. The Turkey Ruben sandwich was served quite hot with melted cheese on perfectly toasted rustic rye bread. One of the best Rubens I've had. Special soup of the day was creamy spinach. It was very fresh and flavorful, with a small assortment of excellent bread to go with it. I hope to return on our next trip through Southern Pines. The only downside was that everything was served in to-go containers, but I understand why they would choose to do that.

The food here was great and the service was great. The waitress was very nice and listened very well. The food was hot and very fresh. You could tell that the people cooking the food put passion into it. We came here because we had a gift card and I’m glad we did because it was delicious and we had a very good time. Hope this is helpful.

Terrific lunch spot in downtown that I'm Pines. Always busy Tuesday through Saturday for lunch. It's worth the wait if they are on a wait. Yummy food and different options than a lot of other restaurants. Great service every time. Definitely worth visiting.

I absolutely love the food. They serve vegetarian dishes, something that is a bit harder to find in this area, that are so good that I even order them above some of their more omnivorous dishes half the time! Their staff is always incredibly friendly, and no matter what I order from their menu, I am never disappointed. If I could give them more than 5 stars I would!

Great place. Great atmosphere. My favorite thing to order in their Hot Vegetarian. I didn't think I'd like vegetarian food but after I had this i had a new thought of vegetarian foods. I now order it almost every time I come.

Being small doesn't hurt Sweet Basil one single bit. Despite the somewhat limited dining space, SB gave me a sandwich that was overflowing with flavor, from a menu that was short but refined. As anyone from a small town could tell you, there's a warm familiarity - a personality - in the little things. Sweet Basil captured that personality, but didn't let it consume their identity or compromise their quality. They took the best parts of small-town dining and mixed it with the ingredients of a big-name restaurant to produce *just* the right amount of everything I needed or expected.

I couldn't rate them higher, and I'm looking forward to making this little diner a big part of any future trips in the area.

I'm so happy I found this place! The freshest salad I've ever had. Service was awesome as well. The establishment is very busy during lunch hours, seating is limited.

Huge accolades to everyone at Sweet Basil for creating a quaint relaxing environment, friendly prompt service, and simple menu of exceptionally well executed lunch favorites. In other words, cute place with good food! Do yourself a favor and don't miss this place. Need extra reasons? House made soup that changes everyday. Focaccia and Tuscan breads that change the whole sandwich experience, salads created thoughtfully and plated beautifully . . . And very fair prices. A favorite of locals for good reason. Highly recommended.

One of our favorite lunch spots, especially on a cold day when you can order one of their spectacular soups! We usually get 1/2 sandwich with a cup of soup -- delicious!

My favorite restaurant to have lunch at in So Pines. Excellent food and there is good variety as well. It is the perfect spot to catch up with friends, while receiving great customer service.

Asparagus soup? So good! The main reason I go! This is a cute place with good people in a great area.

My wife and I grabbed lunch here today. We heard about the sandwiches and had to check it out for ourselves. She had the Grilled Chicken Napa and I had the Reuben. I am sold! The Reuben was great! I will most certainly be back to get my monthly Reuben fix. The rumors are true, Sweet Basil is a great place to grab a sandwich.
