Chapman's Food and Spirits

This was my first time visiting Southern Pines and Chapman’s was the first food I consumed in the town. The beer dip pretzels were out of this world! The rest of the food and service was top notch. I highly recommend this place if you’re in town.

Chapman’s Food and Spirits located at 157 E New Hampshire Ave, Southern Pines, NC 28387 is a World Class Tavern/Restaurant featuring very high quality ingredients crafted by Master Chefs. Their Burger’s are among the very best of the best that I have had in many years. Chargrilled perfectly and in combinations that are phenomenal.
I don’t like Horseradish except in cocktail sauce and then very minimally, but liked their horsey sauce that came on my burger.
Last night (Saturday) the kitchen was slammed, so the food took a bit of time, and my burger came with all of the ingredients despite me requesting no Kimchi, no tomato, and no horsey sauce.
I always have my burgers with basically cheese and onion only. I took a bite of the burger and it was so great that I didn’t even send it back to be remade.
Their nachos are also really good and a gigantic plate too. My only complaint would be that the place got really loud eventually. I would suggest ceiling acoustical tile that would absorb the sound some, maybe carpet too.
Parking can be tricky but I got lucky. Waiter was excellent and checked on us frequently.
If I lived nearby, this would be my favorite Restaurant!

One of the best burgers I’ve had! A great meal tonight. Wonderful staff took great care of us as well! Average prices for above average food quality! Very busy after 6pm. Wait was on, but we luckily got in just before…!!! Highly recommend!

Cute restaurant! Very cozy and home-y ma and pop atmosphere. Our waitress was very pleasant and service was just the right amount- we didn’t feel hovered or ghosted. Portions were of perfect sizes. I cleaned both plates! I personally had the cream of mushroom soup and the house salad, and everything came out in a very timely manner and was delicious…also was of very fresh quality. Only negative I would say was that most dishes (all besides mine) came in trays which you either love it or hate it. Prices were very reasonable. Cute little cozy restaurant to visit whenever you’re in town!

Love dining here. Can even bring my dog and sit outside. My dog loves it and they are so kind and bring him water. The food is so good - especially their burgers. I love their Chapman’s chiller and absolutely love their Hawaiian sunrise mixed drink. This is where I bring my friends from out of town for a good fun downtown experience.

First time going to Chapman's; quite impressive and will certainly be back again.

(4/5) Started out with creamy crab dip. While it had quite an impressive amount of crab, it seemed to be on the salty side. This could be a side effect of the amount of cheese used that could be easily offset by the addition of some more cracks of black pepper. I think they missed an opportunity to combine some fresh herbs (ie: parsley and chives). The star of the show, however, was the pita bread it was served with. The edges were perfectly crispy and golden, while the interior remained soft and fluffy.

(5/5) The fish (Haddock) and chips was equally if not more impressive. Not only was the portion size massive (those are quarter sheet trays), but fish stayed crisper, even hours later after taking home the leftovers --> a true testiment to a chef's cooking ability. The fish was season, though the batter could be seasoned more (ie: smoked paprika and garlic powder)in my opinion, if the fish was to be eaten without any condiments. The homemade tarter sauce was great too; though it could be improved with the addition of some Dill and capers personally.

Overall a fantastic experience warranting further exploration of the menu. To be continued!

This place has great food!!! Fish and chips are absolutely delicious and made with Haddock, which is hard to find! Dynamite burgers cooked perfectly and the fries are awesome! Great portions and in such a quaint little town with lots of shopping! It's definitely worth the stop!

Chapman’s is a gastropub with elevated craft burgers, sandwiches, shareables, and a few entree choices. Decor is definitely pub style - warm cozy and inviting. They have plenty of outdoor tables in the front of the restaurant. Food and service are both excellent and they have a selection of NC craft beer, wine, and cocktails. We enjoyed the crab dip and guacamole from the nice list of specials, and all loved our meals - two different burgers and the divine French dip. Fries and chips are made in house and excellent.

Absolutely gorgeous little spot with amazing food and service. The Crawfish Fries are phenomenal as is the Pasta Vodka. My drink never even got half empty, the servers were amazing. This place should definitely be on your radar if it isn’t already.

We did some exploring this weekend and found ourselves in Southern Pines. We live hours away in the town of Davidson.

Our first impression & experience of Chapman’s was very good! Our wait was around 20 minutes. Not bad. Our server, Lois was great!

We ordered the French Dip sandwich & the steak quesadilla with sweet chili aïoli. My husband chose a cup of soup as the side. (I didn’t catch the name of it) but it was like roasted delicious peppers, so tasty!

My husband and I usually share our meals, and Chapman’s did not disappoint, we enjoyed everything! It was a perfect way to end the exhausting day of driving. The pics and videos we took were quick but worth viewing.

We highly recommend this place.
Will visit again when we are in the area.

This place was AMAZING! I drove from out of town, and it was well worth it. If you want an intimate date in a nice, quiet but welcoming environment, go here for lunch during the week. I got the ultimate burger with crawfish fries and crab dip as an appetizer. I can not emphasize ENOUGH: upgrade any fries as a side to crawfish fries. It was very savory! The burger was something you'd get in a nice restaurant in DC or other major cities. After having it, I'm getting a Reuben next time. The burger was phenomenal, no question... but that corned beef was AMAZING! Best I've ever had. The service was also bar none.

Great food, wonderful service, and it lives up to its reputation of a good place to eat. My wife wanted to order the crayfish fries as an appetizer, but our server wisely suggested she get it as an upcharge side to her burger. Good thing because the saving was large and would have been way too much for one person as an app. Her burger was great, and I had blackened shrimp tacos. My only complaint, if you can call it that, was that they were filled with so much stuff. There was no way I could pick them up and eat them by hand. I only gave 4 stars for the atmosphere because it is rather plain inside, but everything else was stellar.

Really great restaurant in Southern Pines. The Reuben I had was one of the best, and the bartender was excellent! Highly recommend stopping by for a casual lunch.

Great restaurant. The food was delicious and the portions were big. I had the Hamm burger, it was so good and cooked perfectly. We all enjoyed the food and the drinks. The pretzel bites were amazing. It is a must eat place. I recommend it.

Everything at this place was amazing. The ambiance, the cozy home town feel to start. Then a vast menu of options to choose from we got schnitzel and the jam burger both amazing with fresh on draft German lagers. I will definitely be back to try more of the menu this place is a for sure hidden gem.

Great food, service and dessert! Matt was a good server with good recommendations. A bit hot sitting outside but we had our dog.

We came for lunch on a Monday with our two daughters who are 3 and 4. We took advantage of their patio seating and got to see a train pass through downtown from our seat which was great for the kids. The staff was exceptional as well as the food! Our server brought the girls some crayons and coloring books to entertain them while we waited for our meals. The salads are large sized portions, and I added grilled chicken to mine. It was so delicious especially with the house balsamic dressing. The children's portions were great as well. Everyone was happy and we had an awesome experience and will be back to visit again! If you're in the area I definitely recommend Chapman's! Everything on the menu looked delicious!

Met my best friend here for dinner last week and it was phenomenal! I've lived in Moore County for almost 20 years and this was the first time I've been, but I can't wait to go back! The food was amazing, but the service was even better.

Excelente local restaurant. We were a party of 5 and stopped by for lunch. They sat us down right away. The food tasted fresh and we didn't have to wait long for the food.
The server was very attentive and treated us good.
Would definitely recommend Chapman's

Really enjoyed pub. Very friendly service. Good drinks and the food is really Good. Definitely not your average bar food. Prices were very good for the food you get. Absolutely worth a visit!
