Gene Howe Wildlife Management Area

This is a really cool place that has great habitat for quail. The river has some great spots for duck hunting. The check in station is typical and I never saw the game wardens or wildlife management folks. Be careful of the road out to the persimmon section it is really sandy and not fit for anything but 4WD. The grass burs are killer; I had to put boots on my dogs to keep them running hard. The campsite has a bathroom but it's very primitive.

Really enjoyed my week of hunting up here. There is an abundance of wildlife to enjoy besides just your target game. The whole hunt was ran smoothly by Blaine and Kelli, they're extremely professional and knowledgeable. They do a phenomenal job managing the WMA. Ready to come back next year and try again.

Love this place. This year the quail hunting was bad. But a bad day hunting at Gene Howe beats the hell out of the best day at the office.

I come out here often year round. It's always a pleasure, whether I'm out hunting or fishing.
