Hillcrest Medical Center

I was recently admitted to the Oklahoma Heart Institute Hospital on the main Hillcrest Hospital campus. Without a doubt it was the best hospital experience I could have had (and I have had plenty!). Everyone took their time to explain why and how my treatments and procedures would occur. The nursing team was very knowledgeable and took pains to assure and calm me at every step. Every one was attentive and very caring. Several staff would casually pop their heads in just to check on me. I genuinely felt well cared for but more importantly was treated as a person not a job. Thank you all!!

I got burned back on March 12, 2023 and I spent a week in the burn unit. My stay there was absolutely phenomenal. I was very impressed with the staff! It could use some updating, but the rooms are spacious. During my stay there, they let my 6 week old breastfed baby stay with me and I will forever be grateful for that. They also consulted a lactation consultant and OB since I was breastfeeding and just 6 weeks postpartum. One night shift aide even walked around with my daughter rocking her so that me, my husband (who was also burned, but not admitted), and my mother could have a break. Dr.Dickens and the OR staff are also amazing and very professional. The nurses and aides on the burn unit made my stay so pleasant. J, the nurse working in the burn tank always made a point to turn music on that you liked. I highly recommend the burn center if you are ever in need of it. Thank you to all of those who took care of me and my family in our time of hurt and need.

I recently had a trans catheter aortic valve replacement surgery performed by Dr. Kamran Muhammad, MD. I could not have asked for a better overall experience! His staff and the research staff including, Megan, Alex and Lark were very professional and knowledgeable! I spoke with each of them due to other issues that arose that could have delayed the procedure. They were extremely helpful and always readily available. The operating room staff worked like a well oiled machine! I was amazed at how well the operation went. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Tyson Vandagriff was second to none! He explained the procedure prior to going into the surgical suite and was extremely reassuring throughout the procedure, which was done under conscious sedation including versed causing me to remember little of what was going on, however, I remember his reassuring explanations and presence! I was discharged the following day. The ward staff and nurses including Abby and Matt were outstanding making the stay at pleasant as possible. I could not have asked for a better experience, thanks to all of the staff!

My wife and I both had surgical needs this past year. Hillcrest Pryor and Hillcrest Tulsa both provided excellent care. Dr Joice(shoulder)Pryor and Dr Crowley (hip), Tulsa provided excellent care for orthopedic surgeries. The Dr’s and hospital staff gave helpful information regarding our surgeries from start to finish and follow up care was excellent. I highly recommend Hillcrest if you are in need of care.

All of the staff provide compassionate care for my mother inlaw's 11 days. While all the staff were wonderful, the nurses at the Oklahoma Heart Institute were the best! My mother in-law passed away after those 11 days but it was her time. Her body just stopped functioning. The nurses were particularly understanding on keeping mom comfortable and the family informed of her journey. Thank you Hillcrest for providing such great care!

I was so impressed with the level of care I was given. From the first check in in the ER to being discharged after gallbladder surgery, every person was pleasant with excellent care. Dr. Dickens and the Same Day Surgical team are rock stars. At 44 years old, I was having surgery for the first time in my life. Needless to say, I was anxious. Every single person eased my anxiety, and made the process to amazing. I cannot sing their praises enough. Thank you to everyone at Hillcrest.

I showed up at Hillcrest through the emergency room, they got me in fast and admitted me. They calmed me down and assured me they would take care of me. During my hospital stay the nurses responded so quick and were so caring! Not anything like my home town hospital. I feel I got quality care and I will drive back if I ever need medical care of this nature again. Thank you so very much.

I was scheduled for an MRI. I have a pacemaker and they were aware and had someone there to make the necessary adjustments to my pacemaker before and after the MRI. All the nurses were friendly and courtesy and explained everything in a way I could understand. Upon completion of the MRI they explained that Dr. Roenhamer would review the results and would get back with me. Later that day I saw the results via MyChart and the next day I received a call and a message via My Chart.

My husband went for pre-op testing and the woman that took all of the info before testing was Jody and she was so helpful with questions about his surgery, she didn't know all the information we were seeking, but she got someone to talk to him that was so helpful. The staff was so great.

I showed up for my appointment about an hour before. Not being from this area, I needed extra time to find the room I needed to be in. After about 20 minutes looking for where I needed to go, I asked a gentleman where I should go. By the grace of Jesus, he walked me everywhere I needed to go. From first registering, then to the CT scan room, where that same kind gentleman administered the test. I am guessing that I was his next appointment, because I was the very next one in.

That gentleman turned my excursion into a friendly visit.

Best ER experience ever had- when Okmulgee ER admitted me during a heart attack-& arranged for life flight to heart institute Hillcrest, who had a a staff of people & operating room ready on arrival!! They had a stint in my 80% blocked artery within or less than an hour!!!!! Nurse Tammy-my day time nurse was the BEST NURSE I've had since child birth 27 years ago!! She never made me feel bad for pushing the button & explained things so everyone understood!! She truly cares for wellbeing & recovery!! The insurance lady- can't remember her name :(, but she got me all taken care of & I've already got notice for my follow up appointment!! The entire team made me feel like the only person on the floor, even when alarms went off & someone else got moved to icu-🙏🙏for that persons recovery too!! Thank you Heart Institute- ❤❤❤

In the last year I changed my Dr. to Hillcrest. I have been very happy with the facility and staffing. Very nice, clean, convenient and location is great. I can give it 5 stars. Very happy with my change and glad I made it!!

I had a myelomagram and a bone density test. I didn't have to wait much, barely got the paperwork done! The staff was very professional yet friendly. I hope I don't have any tests like this again, but if I do I would like to have them done here, even if it is a 100 mile drive to get there.

My labor and delivery experience at Hillcrest was great! My nurses and doctors were caring, attentive to my needs, and made sure to keep me informed about what was going on. The only thing people should know is that there are many students shadowing the doctors and nurses. I didn’t mind at all, but it might matter to someone else.

My experience with the ER at Hillcrest Medical Center on March 20 2024 was much better than I ever expected. With the only delay being that I had to wait quite a while in the waiting room I knew that ambulance patients came before those of us waiting. Once inside the ER it was completely different - I was never left alone as the team came right in doing bloodwork, MRI, and other scans as needed. Dr Martinez and his team were GREAT. Friendly and concerned and even Dr Martinez left a message to my surgeon of what he found and passed it on for his reference for when he saw me in his clinic. The RNs, nurses and triage room people were great - Thank You for Great Service

We moved to OK from MO and, of course, we needed to find a new Primary Physician for my husband and myself. We had been with our Dr. in MO for over 20 years trusting his decisions for our health needs & respected him completely. We knew it was not an easy task to find just the right Dr. to continue our care in the same manner & determination as our Dr. in MO! After many online searches & reading the info/qualifications on these physicians, which not only included other people's reviews but also what the overall reputation of Hillcrest Medical Center was viewed by the community.
On our first visit with Dr. Kelly we knew already that we wanted him as our primary physician. He was professional, very thorough in our health histories but his bedside manner was very important to us. Dr. Kelly met each one of our expectations, he was so personable and we did not feel rushed or uncomfortable in anyway!
As a retired RNC of 30+ years, I have worked beside an array of many Physicians and I have learned over those years that the character and "bedside manner" of a physician has a huge part in not only their priorities in the decisions made for a patient, etc. but most patients want & need to feel a personal connection with their physician (s). We have found this with Dr. Kelly! SS

I had an absolutely amazing experience aside from the actual c section that was a whole experience itself lol but I came across so many amazing nurses from Labor and Delivery to Postpartum! Two nurses really stood out to me and they are amazing! Mariah and Suzanne 💕 they really went above and beyond! Suzanne from postpartum took extra good care of me and my family and helped me figure out my new medication routine! I cant thank them enough!

I was really impressed with all my cardiology doctors and staying at the hospital their staff is awesome everyone is so nice and helpful the day nurse was fantastic during my stay!! During my prepping for my procedure at OHI these are the best staff ever , hospital is clean , everything about the stay was so awesome very grateful for this hospital and their staff!!

My visit at Hillcrest was sensational. Aaron Smith was excellent! He was informative, kind, funny and engaging. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience!!! They were on time, patient and very helpful. I wouldn’t hesitate to go back again.

Very professional and knew what exercises I needed to build muscle for the most efficient recovery. She was always friendly and never failed to answer all my questions. It’s been a pleasure to work with her. I’m getting a knee replacement in a month and I look forward to coming back to Hillcrest for a quick and speedy recovery. I’d definitely recommend Hillcrest to anyone after surgery for a speedy pt recovery.
