The best hotel I've ever stayed in!

This beautiful hotel gets it right in every single detail. Comfortable rooms, generous amenities and the restaurant had absolutely delicious cuisine, and the service was fantastic delicious dining. The staff were warm, friendly and very professional.
We will be coming back again soon!

This hotel is just perfect! The restaurant had absolutely delicious cuisine, and the service was fantastic. All the employees we have encountered have been just sweet as can be! It's a great location if attending the opera. We will be coming back again soon!

Our son treated me to an overnight stay @ the Lancaster hotel in early March, 2024. He was running a symposium & time was short. The staff, Gary, Mr. A. Levine were so gracious to find an Uber/ Lyftt for me home. The breakfast buffet is beautifully displayed & offers so many things to enjoy. We've been there many times when we attend a program in the theater district. We highly recommend the Lancaster hotel as a destination!

Wonderful room. The restaurant is nice with a good bartender, although the menu is a bit limited. Coffee service and free snacks in the rooms are great. The front desk staff was oddly distanced and not very helpful or friendly. I was there for business but would stay again for leisure.

My faith in the joys of a good hotel have been restored at the Lancaster in Houston, TX. I have had to stay in hotels a lot of my working life and have grown used to small indignities and annoyances that seem normalized. I was shocked to stay at the Lancaster Hotel in Houston and be in a hotel that did everything perfectly and made me feel like a truly honored guest. From the moment I walked in the door things felt special, elegant and civilized.

First off, the hotel has real art, significant pieces by well known artists. It always seemed strange when a hotel that charges expensive prices for a room has art work that looks like at was bought for 30 dollars at a factory outlet sale. Not so at the Lancaster. The Mark Flood at the entrance prepared me for a wonderful experience, and every room I saw including my chambers were filled with real art. Since the hotel is next to the Opera, Ballet and Symphony, as well as the Alley Theater their guests clearly know the difference between real art and cheesy decor. And those I spoke to had noticed. In the elevator strangers commented about how the art budget is a sign of real respect to their guests taste, sophistication and worldliness.

Next the minibar and snacks were free. It always seems weird when a hotel charges 5 dollars for a thirty cent bag of chips and leaves me feeling taken advantage of, knowing that in strange cities and over tired I am likely to let myself be taken advantage of. Not here This small generosity made me feel cherished and I did devour the small bag of chocolate covered cherries each day of my stay.

The bed was extra comfy, the sound proofing was good and street sounds never woke me. Finally the breakfast buffet was the highest quality and different every day. Day two the platter of avocado toast was divine. And the standard scrambled egg platter was kept refreshed and never was allowed to get sticky and gelatinous. Juice and coffee were well done too.

In all my years of hotels this was one of my top three pleasures and this was the only one in the States. Make plans to see something at Houston Grand Opera and the Menil and make an arts culture outing with a joyous stay at the Lancaster.

Our room was cosy and comfortable. The amenities were top notch. The service was outstanding, definitely the best hotel to stay in Houston.

Rm 608 (corner with view of both streets). Bathroom curtain broken, but no issue for us.

Ok. So just checked in today for 2 nights for 2 rooms. It's been nothing short of a pleasure, classic, and intentionally designed for comfort and artistic design appreciation. We went out for the and the room was restocked and made! There are free snacks and drinks, with items restocked of what we used prior to leaving. The kids mentioned the staff placing their special stuffed animals in special places. The staff are a pleasure to engage with. Bob, at the bar, made a smooth accommodation for me (instead of nuts as I mentioned my allergy) and looked for a choice alternative on the house without me asking. The beds are comfortable to reset in. The whole hotel is serene quaint. It is perfectly located, literally, across the street from Jones Hall, Wortham Theater, and Birraporetti's (Italian restaurant and Irish bar). We parked our vehicle in a nearby parking garage (lesser cost than valet) that speed "in and out" access out reservation payment. I'll update as needed, but felt compelled to review after 5 hours!

Update. Breakfast was delicious and not your ordinary "hotel free breakfast." I even asked for oatmeal, which the waitress was open to make the accommodation for me. The staff regularly check on guests for complimentary snacks, drinks, or any needs unless you activate the "do not disturb" button by the door. The bathroom is fully stocked with Bvlgari toiletries. My husband asked for a few toiletries that he forgot and the from desk gladly supplied them. The hotel grounds staff are all kind.

We ate lunch and enjoyed for a few hours. Monte Cristo, ceasar salad, Belgium waffle with banana fosters (delicious!), and tomato basil soup (delicious).

Rooms were clean, and nice but outdated. Better lighting and ventilation are needed in the bathrooms, and the temperature in the room was all over the place. The bed was super comfy, and the guest service is top tier. We didn’t get a chance to eat in the restaurant or at the bar, but the breakfast buffet in the mornings is pretty amazing. They have fresh honeycomb, coffee, juice, bread service, eggs, you name it, it was there. The location is perfect. We nearly walked everywhere we wanted to go! Overall I highly recommend checking this place out, it was a pleasant, quiet stay.

I stayed here on a quick trip to Houston with a couple of friends, and it was totally the best hotel I've ever stayed in. When I checked in, my room was upgraded to a penthouse suite, much to my surprise. It was so huge I almost felt guilty staying in there by myself. Needless to say, my room ended up being the hangout. Overall, I had the best time, and the service was impeccable. It is conveniently located downtown within walking distance to many attractions, bars, and restaurants. I highly recommend staying here if you are planning on visiting the Houston area. I would give it 6 stars if I could. Lol

First time staying here and it was top notch. It was very clean, well kept and the staff was very friendly and accommodating. We arrived in the middle of a rain shower and the valet staff took care of us and ushered us in under umbrellas and took care of the luggage. I have eaten here over the years before plays etc... but this was the first time staying- I do not live in HTX anymore. It is a classic, been around forever and there is a reason it is still here. I forgot to get photos of all the meal but the Cesar Salad was superb. The breakfast in the morning was outstanding as well- a nice spread with honestly anything you could want- all fresh, hot and love the honeycomb/honey! Enjoyed our stay! Very walkable area/central for anyone new to the city and wanting to explore downtown.

This hotel and the staff is one of the best in the city. The staff and team go above and beyond and each of the team is appreciated. In the Cultivated Restaurant, Kate, Bob, Dylan are A+++.

The location and level of detail is uncompromised.

Thank you, all!

5/5 The Lancaster is a beautiful boutique hotel. We were welcomed by the valet staff and they were very gracious and helpful. The front desk staff was very timeful and kind also. The room was quaint and clean. If you need space, the rooms are a bit cozy so be prepared. The rooms have been updated and are beautifully adorned with wonderful art. The amenities were also great. We enjoyed the breakfast the next morning. We loved the Lancaster and look forward to returning.

We visited the Lancaster Hotel for afternoon tea a couple of weeks ago in celebration of my daughter's16th birthday. . Kate and Amy took care of us in the dining room, and Ramiro was our chef. What an elevated experience! The service was wonderful, and every morsel of food delicious. They even made a special cake for my daughter!
It was funny how many of us said some form of "I don't usually like ____, but I really like this one!"
If you are in search of a lovely afternoon tea, I highly recommend the Lancaster.

I picked this hotel based off recent reading of Travel and Leisure world's best awards for 2023. The Lancaster is definitely deserving of that #2 spot for Houston. Everything was fantastic from the room, to the food, and plenty of complimentary touches. Worth the stay!

This hotel is in the best location. Your in downtown, but the area it’s in is super clean. You don’t so no trash outside or nothing. The hotel in general is amazing the two guys in check in are so nice. The rooms are super nice and they use nice shower products(Bulgaria). The only thing is the king room is kinda of small, but it’s nice. The rooms have complimentary drinks and snacks and a complimentary gourmet breakfast. The breakfast is better that normal hotels. Overall this is more than a 5/5

We had a great stay in this lovely historical hotel. The staff was very helpful and friendly. Also, enjoyed lunch at the hotel restaurant. We had a corner room that was spacious and the bed was comfortable. Easy walk to many restaurants and the metro. I would definitely stay next time I'm in Houston and highly recommend the Lancaster Hotel.
