Chelas Mexican Restaurant

The food was amazing, I love their tortillas. The flan was amazing too. Really good authentic Mexican food. Not sure why there are so many negative reviews, I had a great experience, food was plated nicely, the prices are very reasonable and the food tasted homemade and fresh.

OMG!! What a great experience! We had our first molcajete here and it was absolutely amazing!!!! The girls in the restaurant were so helpful in explaining the dish to us and how it's made. We will always make a stop in Van Horn when traveling through Texas, just for this dish!😋

We were on our way to San Antonio, we stopped by to grab a bite and let me tell you the food was amazing!!! Great customer service! Our server Ashly was the best! Very understanding and patient! Super recommend this place!

I've never seen dry picadillo with no potatoes in it, they really should call it something else, because dry meat with tomato, jalapenos and onions is not picadillo. Picadillo should be kinda juicy and have potatoes. They have potatoes in other menu items, just not this one. The bacon wrapped jalapenos were ok, the bacon had a plastic texture, just wasn't flavorful as bacon wrapped jalapenos I've had elsewhere. I'm wondering if they were frozen at some point. There's semi truck parking around the restaurant if you need that. It's near a truck stop. I just feel sad because I was really hungry and needing some tasty food. It would have been nice if they would have had some caldo de res with potatoes and carrots, the red broth, not the clear broth that tastes like cabbage water. The employees are nice, can't complain about that, and the place is really clean. The pricing is fair. As far as the food goes, It is what it is I guess.

An unexpected delight! Our food was delicious and Selene was super. A great stop after a long day of travel!

Salsa so good , I bought somd to carry home on a long 12 hour drive. If you're passing through I highly recommend. Great food and service !

Selene was great at making sure i had everything i needed, very sweet and had very much nice things to say about the town while i was visiting from el paso to san antonio! definitely will come again!

Stopped here on my way from AZ to Austin back in February and had their enchilada lunch plate. Hands down the absolute best enchilada plate I’ve had in years. I was just telling a coworker earlier about it in a discussion of local Austin Mexican/Tex-Mex places. Nothing here holds a candle to it.

Food was great. Service was excellent The place was clean and well kept prices where very reasonable right next to a Truckstop. So plenty of parking I will definitely put this on my place. To stop in van horn

Very good carne Asada tacos and Charro beans. A little salty, so you may want to ask for less salt if your diet requires it. Quickly received my to go order. A big plus is plenty of big rig/RV parking nearby. I’ll be back (hopefully they’ll add fish tacos to the menu by then).

Huge portions and very sweet mesera. The guy at the front was very friendly and quick with service. The quesadilla was so big that I had to share it with my husband. The food is delicious! I highly recommend!

Driving long distance, we always attempt to make Chelas b4 closing. Great food! Cold Beer! Great service! Clean washrooms! A true OASIS in West Texas! Gracias, Chelas! See ya next time, we're crossing the country looking for a home-cooked meal!

Most of the reviews are negative for this place, yet I still came to eat because most people are full of them selves if u can’t have an open mind that others do differently than u then I suggest you cook every meal u ever eat with that said this place is great the food was hot & fresh and it tasted great the waitresses cold check on the table more as opposed to needing a refilll and asking for it but all in all I would recommend this place!!!

Food was great! Restaurant & restrooms were very clean & the decor was nice & modern. Do not let the fact that this place is in the Pilot Truck Stop parking lot stop you from going in. Give it a try, you won't be disappointed.

Great food. We rolled into town and needed some Mexican fare. Chelas did the trick. Our waitress, Steph, was a very sweet young lady. I'm quiet pleased. Loads of food too. I only have an after picture cause I almost ate it all.

All good, I got there aroud 10am and I was the only one at the restaurant.
Breakfast was good.
Service was good.

If you are driving from El Paso to Big Bend NP, you need to stop at Chela's. The food is great and the service is fast. The charro beans have bacon fat and weinies!

Good food great taste and they are fast and cheap for the quality and quantity of food will definitely go back or stop by and get takeout very friendly people and down to earth. 😍😍
