(Photos are from October)
We visited this lovely place in October and went for a walk with our dogs through the "Boulder Bridge Loop." While we enjoyed the scenery and fresh air, we noticed that some people had left litter on the trail. So, we took a small trash bag with us and cleaned up the area.
On weekends, the place can be a bit crowded with people. Nonetheless, it was a pleasant experience overall.

One of DC's most overlooked gems. Especially in the autumn, Rock Creek Park is just unbelievable. Plenty of hiking and biking paths, picnic areas, and vistas to cover whatever kind of park experience is desired. So grateful to live so nearby.

One of my favorite parks on the east coast. I feel as though this park is very dynamic. Many different routes you can choose, short or long. There’s historical sights throughout, picnic areas and a Zoo. Not to mention the activities
Horseback riding
Golfing
Tennis courts
Kayaking
Biking
Hiking
Jogging
And more.
My point is, this park offers something for everyone. If you’re visiting the area this is a great place to venture out to before the museums open up.

If you are visiting, the zoo is free. I do believe you do have to reserve a spot online but I could be mistaken.

A good hiking trail would be Southern Loop via Western Ridge Trail, Rock Creek, ValleyTrail.

My friends and I were visiting Washington and accidentally stumbled upon this park and it was a great place to visit. The fall scenery is beautiful and the sound of the stream is relaxing. And it's really a great place for sketching! You can find stunning compositions here at any time. The beauty of the scenery here doesn't even require any artistry. The air is fantastic and it's a great place to go if you want to run or do a hike. And along the road we found a lot of mushrooms, so if you like picking mushrooms, come here.

Beautiful park, quite vast so you won't run out of trails to trek on or areas to go. I enjoyed it and would certainly come back to see more of the area.

Not too crowded. Easy trail. Nice little escape in the middle of the chaos. Dog friendly. Saw a few horses also on the trails.

I love Rock Creek Park… every time I go, I find something new like a trail, bridge, or new waterway. I hope you take the time to get out - bike, walk, or park your car and check it out!

Rock Creek Park in DC is an absolute treasure! 🌳🌲🏞 A haven for nature lovers, it offers a perfect escape from the hustle and bustle of the city. The winding trails are perfect for hiking and biking, and the lush greenery provides a serene setting for picnics and relaxation. The creek adds a soothing touch to the surroundings, and the wildlife sightings make it a true delight for all ages. The historical landmarks like Pierce Mill and Peirce-Klingle Mansion add an extra layer of fascination. A definite 5-star rating for this urban oasis that never fails to rejuvenate the soul! 🦌🌿 #RockCreekPark #NatureInDC #HikingTrails #UrbanOasis #WildlifeEncounters #HistoricalLandmarks #FiveStarExperience"

Shout out to the dedicated staff of Rock Creek Park keeping the park welcoming to us (walkers, runners, cyclists and trail hikers) even after thunderstorms. Especially as it relates to those of us that go early in the morning, restrooms are always open functional and clean.

Absolutely gem of a place! The trails are well defined and the weather is chilly as compared to city. Recommend this place for morning runs or walks and dog-walks or just getting away from city hustle. Extremely quiet and satisfying. Also has a small water body flowing by - nothing too great but good enough during most times of year

Explored a brief sliver of this park today, cannot believe such a beautiful, quiet and well-kept green space is so easily accessible.

The most noticeable part is without a doubt the pretty creek running through the heart of the park. I stuck pretty much to it all through but the park is also spread out to the east and west (for next time).

I saw about 12 different types of birds, expert regulars have identified over a hundred or so I hear.

The entrance to the place is only 15 minutes from nearest red line metro stations. There is a bike trail hugging the creek as well. Certainly biking here next time.

Rock Creek has something for everyone. Saw a bald eagle fly just yards over my head during the winter. Birds of all kinds. Turtles having a great time in the sun. Trails that can take you away from the city in a moments notice.

Sadly, lots of people use the trails with no courtesy. Even with their rudeness, it’s still a good time.

Find your little special place and visit often.

Beautiful, clean, safe. Really enjoyed our mini hike. I was so mesmerized by the beauty of the colored leaves and birds' sounds that I didn't even think of taking photos. This photo doesn't do it justice but that's the only one I took. Fall was definitely a good season to visit. Hope to go back in spring.

Decided to check this park out and we were not disappointed. How is this vast green space right in our back yard? The website said 30+ miles of trials. We walked one of the roads closed off to vehicle traffic for a bit and took some of the trails as well. There were a lot of people walking, riding bikes and enjoying the outdoors, yet it didn’t seem crowded. Recommend planning your route in advance or having a trail app to help you out. Plenty of spaces to bring a picnic lunch or camp out along the water. Parking was a challenge. The parking lots fill up early. We ended up parking on the street near one of the embassies. If you look on the map, you will be able to see various parking options. Street parking worked for us so keep that option in mind too. If you haven’t been, what are you waiting for?

We came here between mid to the end of Oct, and there were already some early fall foliage showing up. When the weather is good, the traffic might take quite a while to go in / get out of this area. Both walking or biking works in the trail. It’s a pretty nice park in general. (Follow me on IG ➡ miss_dawang)

Mild 56° to explore a bit of Rock Creek Park. Had so much fun walking on the Nature Trail which is a paved road blocked off from cars. Super pretty even with little vegetation. Will definitely come back to explore more. Only managed a 1 hour in and out.
