Mt. Van Hoevenberg East Trail Parking

Amazing memory! It's a moderately difficult trail to hike but we'll worth the finish at the peak. Dress appropriately. Start out at the bottom where it can be hot and humid but at the summit it's very windy and can be 20 degrees cooler. Bring more than a hoodie. I recommend a wind breaker. Also, remember there are bugs and mosquitoes so don't underestimate this adventure. Get the right gear and give yourself time to climb and come back down. There are mountain guides all throughout the trails that can assist you if you need help so you won't get lost. Also, you sign in upon arrival so no one will be lost and forgotten. All I can say after all that is enjoy the sights and have fun because the memory will be with you forever!

You probably won't find another trail with better effort to view ratio. The entire trail is made of chiseled steps if i recall correctly. We hiked on a mostly sunny Monday (09/25) and we were rewarded with some amazing views. The fall colors seemed more at their prime here. Parking available in lot B and C.

This is the most spectacular hole we have been on this trip. Very scenic. Open panoramic views and fall colors at peak to boot. Definitely worth the hike up

A whole lot of stairs but definitely worth the effort!! A very well made and clean trail. Saw a lot of kids and dogs going up happily to enjoy a beautiful view from the summit.

X Countey Ski !!! I went to the Wee ski program for my almost two year old daughter and it was awesome! We could enjoy the little trails , it was a beautiful day and the ski rental is so kind because they help you immediately with boots!! All my visits were in good hands!! Thank you guys!!!

Stairway to heaven! Beautiful facility and the new trail to the summit is really well done. Lots of hard work and love put into it. Highly recommend! The views from the top are beautiful

Brand new world class facility with plenty of parking. First floor check in, basic clothing store and rentals. Head upstairs for Swix clothing store, cafe and lounge area with view out over ski area.

This is an excellent new trail (opened October 2018) to the summit of Mt. Van Hoevenberg. The trailhead is a short walk from the parking. Head towards the center and then turn left. You will see a sign directing you up stairs in a hillside. The trailhead starts along an old bobsled run, then briefly follows a dirt road. The route is 1.7 miles each way, the last half mile being particularly beautiful. We were the first ones up after an overnight snowfall. At a few points you had to stop and look for trailer markers, but overall it is well marked. The trail does join an older one at the very end, so watch on the way down to make sure you return the same way; this junction would benefit from additional signage.

Definitely worth the effort to get to the top. It's a million dollar view. Highly recommended. Go for it.

Rode the mountain coaster! It was terrific! Fast and twisting track. You have brakes but can get to 70mph. Dress warmly! It was snowing and I was sorry not to have goggles. My glasses were not enough. Really fun day.
You can fit two people in the cars as long as they don't exceed 300lb.

Love, love, love Mt Van Hoevenberg! Perfect grooming for skating, lots of terrain, lots of trails. Its a big enough place that there can be literally a hundred cars in the lot, but you find yourself alone on some trails. Nice little gift shop, and healthy, tasty food by Green Goddess.

The lodge is now here and you can walk around to see the bobsled track. Today there were some trials for bobsleds and skeleton....

Wonderful ride on mountain coaster. One worker went above and beyond and climbed the mountain to find my glasses that flew off half way down. Beautiful and so much fun.

Love skiing here. UAF IS THE BEST!

In the Olympic complex. A lot of fun, did some xcountry skiing.
