Everytime I've had an encounter with a Monticello police officer they have distinguished themselves simply because they have treated as a human being while I've noticed the troopers talk to me or will just ignore they make me feel as I'm not their equal even so far as they do not recognize my right to exist

I had to make a call from out of town, a different county actually. They were very courteous, very helpful.

They make you feel so safe that youll want to move. They enjoy using misinformation to intimidate people they pull over for traffic stops. Make sure you're not driving around past 8p-6a or else the cop who looks like he partakes in breaking the law more than serving our community will go on a power trip when you ask a simple question and tell you to "shut up if you know what's good for your bf". Oh - and if you are driving around past 8p make sure you bundle up in case they want to force you to stand outside for the 35 minute traffic stop in -10° weather than leave you hanging for the 45 minute walk home... basically just don't move to monticello- the police truly don't protect and serve their community.

Dispatcher Cassidy is very unprofessional and rude. My friend was arrested in the village during a verbal dispute with his ex, while he had his dog. The officer decided it would be a good idea after arresting my friend to give the dog to his ex, who has a history of abusing this dog. In my opinion it should be law to give it directly to the dog warden, not whoever you feel like. We called the station frustrated because they gave the dog to my friends ex. Dispatcher Cassidy decided that because we expressed frustration that she would not leave a message for the officer who was at the seen (literally told us this). My mom later calls the station and asks to speak to the officer who was on the seen and he was once again out of the station and another dispatcher told my mother they would not help us any further because of the rude comments that I made to Dispatcher Cassidy. Meanwhile, I said nothing rude TO HER!! God forbid you stand up for what is right and question the actions that were taken by PUBLIC SERVANTS! Sergeant Lindsey was the only kind soul I spoke to at the station, but as soon as he is not around apparently dispatchers feel entitled. Monticello police department has and always will be corrupt. It took us nearly a month to get the dog back from a person who has no legal right over this dog. When we spoke to the ex, she said that Monticello PD said she could keep the dog as long as she'd like.
