Finding a (mostly) Mexican restaurant inside of a Dutch Kasteel (Castle) was...unexpected, to say the least. I'm assuming that the restaurant was (once?) the property of the owners of the adjacent Auld Holland Inn, and switched hands at some point. Either way, nothing appears to have been lost in the handoff, because the food here is excellent, even if a bit off-theme!

My wife somehow decided against ordering her favorite, a Monte Cristo, in favor of some Carne Asada, while I went with the Steak Ranchero. In hindsight, we probably should have traded orders. While both were delicious, the Steak Ranchero included mushrooms (which I hate and my wife loves) that were not listed on the menu, and I vastly preferred the taste and texture of her entrée to mine. That said, I was not disappointed. I'd order it again, sans mushrooms, if the Carne Asada wasn't on the menu. Since it is, it'll be my order of choice any time we find ourselves back in Oak Harbor - it's that good!

Service was attentive a bit uneven: we were asked if we were ready to order *three times* before the water arrived at our table, by different servers; the first two times within 30 seconds of our butts touching the seats. Once we had, we didn't see hide nor hair of any server, other than when our food was delivered, for the rest of the visit, until the came (a little later than I'd have liked) at the end.

Those nitpicks aside, I love everything about the aesthetic, and despite the somewhat confused cultural collision taking place here, nothing about it detracts from the experience. I wish more establishments would unabashedly embrace a theme, identity or culture...even if it comes to them second-hand. So, call it what you want: castle, kasteel, castillo - doesn't matter. Just know that when you're here, you're going to eat like a King...a Koning...or a Rey.

Great place, a hidden gem. Don’t pass by without stopping. Every meal we have had has been a 10. They serve American and Mexican flare. All delicious!

We shared the Chilaquiles Verdes and Banana pecan pancakes. Both were wonderful and flavorful. Ask for their house-made hot sauces, they are great as well. They were willing to substitute hash browns in lieu of meat with our food.

We had the prime rib fajitas that were delicious . The Winter Margarita was also nice and festive . If you do not want leftovers than it could easily be shared.

Hands down my favorite chicken fried steak....EVER! The gravy was divine and my eggs were cooked perfectly! As always, service was outstanding. I've eaten here several times and is my go-to to have lunch dates.

I’ll start w FRESH SQUEEZED ORANGE JUICE. I eat here atleast once a week for breakfast. The staff are friendly and inviting. Their service is by far the best in town. The food has never disappointed in all the times I have come here. All the reason to continue to come back again and again! Fantastic place for a nice meal with family and friends. Chorizo skillet and French toast are our favorite!

Late lunch, so not busy. Great, friendly service. The fish tacos were good. I really liked the sauce. The restaurant building itself is worth a visit. I really enjoyed all the details.

Okay…the atmosphere isn’t authentic Mexico BUT the food was delicious!!! We got the CHILAQUILES with Chorizo! I got the green and he got the red! It took me back to when my mom (from Jalisco, MX) would make us homemade CHILAQUILES! They weren’t soggy and still had a little crunch!! YUMMY!!
Thank you!

Such a great family owned restaurant. The atmosphere is truly unique, and the food is impeccable! I had the beef chimichanga, and it was HUGE, I could have shared it! The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Definitely a great place to go for date night.

We have been here several times. I just love the staff, but the food is great, so it's an added bonus! Our friend is on a Keto diet, and they are so accommodating to her needs.

In love with this place already! It’s our first time coming here since they opened and my family and I are thoroughly impressed! The service was fast and friendly, the food tastes amazing, and the atmosphere is cozy. 5/5 definitely coming back again. Pictured here is the banana and toasted pecan stuffed french toast.. simply palate pleasing. I typically hate strawberry or raspberry compote that’s used for this dish so the banana/pecan combo was refreshing. This is our new go-to eatery!

The food wasn't good...
IT WAS GREAT!!
Presentation was good and it tasted delicious. I had the Chimichanga and requested carne asada for my protein and I was accommodated. Not many places do that so that was A++. Overall great experience, definitely coming again!

This is an excellent local restaurant with a Mexican theme but many American dishes. The breakfast items are delicious as are the burgers and Mexican dishes. Everything I have had here has been excellent and the staff are very friendly.

Wow!! I haven't been here in ages - and it's been in a few different hands since then! But Martha did a phenomenal job serving us all (we held our Young Professionals of Greater Whidbey meeting here) and not only was she amazing, quick and professional, the chef back there was on point! Food was hot and quick, and delicious! Can I say more - this is the most interesting exterior touch for a Mexican restaurant (like I said, haven't been here in a loooong time!) but WOW do they have a spread of food items and drinks! I had to get photos of the menu because it was that intense! Posting those with this review. Great job everyone! 🙌

From the moment you get there due to the buildings decor, you are immediately drawn into it. The inside is spacious and inviting. They have regular seating and an area for a bar. They have outside seating but it’s seasonal. You’re greeted with a friendly face and smile. The prices aren’t bad either. So go on in and enjoy a nice place for family and friends.
