Maroon Bells Welcome Station

Loved Maroon Bells. Definitely worth the hype, although we were very glad we arrived to the parking lot at 5:15 in the morning and took a nap in the car before sunrise (came the last weekend in September). The Crater Lake hike is really easy for people who hike some, but non-hikers will find the loose rocks and steep inclines a bit of a challenge. By 8 am the trails were SO crowded. We wouldn't have had a good time if we didn't get there so early, so get up and get out :)

We were on a road trip through Colorado and went to Maroon Bells. It really is a must see. Extraordinary colors. We went closer to dusk because it was a stormy day. Even so, I just loved looking at Maroon Lake. Between 8 and 5 during the summer and fall, you have a bus ride to take you there due to the popularity of this place. Just keep in mind how worth it is to see this despite the inconvenience. A photographer's dream.

Beautiful place!
Peaceful and serene. Spent several hours, walking, picnic, taking lots of pictures and reflecting.
Park guide, very informed, answered all our questions and had lots of tips, and advice.
Only downside, no place to buy souvenirs or mementos.
We will return! 😊

Great place to camp and Hike. To get a great camping spot get there early, before 9 and wait! Take the extra hike to Crater Lake absolutely stunning!

This is the most beautiful park in the state and that says a lot. It is absolutely breathtaking and worth the trip so pack a lunch. Cautious of Moose, which we just saw 2 there last week, but so exciting. It’s a fun clean gorgeous place to spend the day.

Freaking awesome place. The road to Maroon bells from Aspen is a thing of beauty itself. The Aspen lake view is one of the most photographed place it seems. Awesome place to enjoy nature and even more awesome if you enjoy hiking. Many hiking trails that lead to the maroon bell peaks, lakes and other places.

Last two weekends into first weekend of October are peak leaf time. The colors were beautiful and it was not too packed. Keep in mind that you have to park in Buttermilk and take the shuttle in if you aren’t in the park by 8 am.

Any time of the year this place has breathtaking views. One of the most photographed places in the US and it deserves the fame! Try to squeeze this one in of you are visiting Aspen. Does not require more than 20-25 mins of time, worth it.

Steep ride to the top. Happy to have the power of the e-bike but still whips you. Going down is a blast! The view is worth the journey.

Be sure to make reservations. We were out and about thot we'd drop by. No reservations tho. Beautiful drive. We will wait for October fall colors and make a reservation and be back!

Be there 1-2 hours before sunrise of you want a good spot in line for the perfect photo.

Stephanie saved my friends and I and helped us to have an absolutely stellar time hiking Pyramid Peak today.

Beautiful lake! You can see the reflection of the Maroon peak in the lake on a clear day with not much wind. The backdrop of the beautiful hills around almost beckons for a cross country race to the top! Be careful of the wild life around though. The visitor center was closed when we went there but we paid at the self service station and would encourage others to do the same to contribute to the maintenance of this beautiful place.

If you didn't make the reservation to go to Maroon Bell, you have to park the car here and take the bus to visit

Great staff, friendly and helpful. We drove to the gate by accident and missed the parking lot for the shuttle. The women at the gate conversed with us for a while giving tips and just being an amazing person

Absolute favorite hiking area. The people are so nice and approachable. I've been here twice and would definitely recommend to everyone. The surroundings are stunningly gorgeous. Love the Bells!!

I have been wanting to see the maroon bells for some time now. If you are looking for breathtaking views you’ll definitely find them here.

Truly a beautiful park...however...do not be surprised if you have to wait hours to get in. Parking is limited and I would recommend avoiding a visit during any kind of national holiday as you will NOT get in unless you show up at 4am or the earliest possible check in time. You have been warned!
