Rio Colorado Cabins

Such a great stay everything felt so homey even better that we got to bring our pups the cabins are nice quiet and close to nature,lifts and all the stores. the owner was very accommodating and let us get a cabin for one extra night since we wanted to stay another day. Will definitely be making this a yearly trip. Thanks for such a great experience

The location was perfect for our needs. First we needed a dog friendly place. Our two small dogs were welcome with reasonable pet deposit. They do request you leave your dog in a crate if you leave them which we are in the habitat of doing anyway. We were there just before Mardi Gras. We prefer traveling during the week rather than busy weekends. Beautiful view of frozen pond, river and mountain. We enjoyed the frequent deer visitors. The cabin is rustic which we like. Full size fridge, oven, stove , coffee maker and microwave was appreciated. No problem with getting hot water for shower and pleanty of towels. We were only there 4 days so didn't need new towels. Cabin was warm. Nice to have remotes to raise or lower temperature in each bedroom and main room. One suggestion we might make is more places to hang towels to dry. There were only 2 of us but we used door tops to hang them. Could have been a bit crazy with more people. Our cabin was a 2 bedroom cabin. We just appreciated extra space and a separate room for dog crates as bedrooms are on the small size. We enjoyed our visit. They were on top of snow plowing around cabins and common areas. Nice areas to take a walk. We never saw any place to deposit dog poop bags but there was a large dumpster we walked to on the property. Also suggest bringing your own paper towels which we did and needed. Some place to get ice for beverages would be nice but Red River is small so not far to go to drive for purchasing ice. All that being said we will be returning to Rio Colorado.

We have been taking vacations in Red River whenever possible since the early 90's. We stayed here for 10 days in the fall of 2021 and 9 days this fall. We absolutely love staying here. The staff is incredibly friendly and are a great resource to the local area. In 2021 we stayed in cabin 4 and this year stayed in cabin 16. Cabin 4 had two bedrooms and a wood burning fireplace. Cabin 16 also had two bedrooms and a gas fireplace. Both cabins had full kitchens and access to gas grills. We used the gas grill this year for several dinners and really enjoyed cooking out. Both cabins had nice decks and we enjoyed sitting outside with our dogs. Cabin 16 actually has decks on both sides and we utilized the "town" and "cabin" sided decks daily. They have several cabins on their stocked pond and on the river. We aren't fisherman, but enjoyed watching guests catch fish. Next year we will get a cabin on the river. Deer, ducks, and wild turkeys were seen almost every day. Both years we brought our dogs and the cabins are very pet friendly (as is Red River). The cabins are clean and well supplied. If you're interested they have Dish TV with several "premium" channels and high speed WiFi Internet. The views are great. It's a very quiet, family and pet friendly place to visit. We are looking forward to returning.

We absolutely love Rio Colorado Cabins.. We have rented 3 different cabins over the years and the service and accommodations are great.. Certainly worth the $$ money ! It’s a part of the tradition of staying in Red River !

It's been some time since my wife and I were out there its not a bad drive from Arlington Texas our the Metroplex we were there during Christmas Break the Cabin we had was quite cozy with an electric fireplace & the snow covered Mountains were quite scenic Enjoyed our stay !!!

Love love these cabins. We have been staying here and bringing our kids since they were very small and they are all young adults now. Beautiful views, the sounds of the river and the night outside the window in the evening is just magical. Always clean and decently stocked for cooking basic meals. Staff are very friendly and helpful with anything you need at all. Great price for Red River as well!

Great stay, even better service!

My girlfriend and I got away for the weekend to red river and decided to book one of these cabins. We have two dogs, so dog friendly was a must, and the place was great for accommodating the pups. The cabin was very cute and cozy, and the fireplace set a warm ambiance. Beautiful property to walk around with spectacular mountain views.

After a relaxing long weekend, however, we managed to leave behind an expensive down pillow that we had brought along. I called the company asking if they had found it, and they offered to ship it to Albuquerque for me! A much appreciated cherry on top of a wonderful stay!

It was nice and relaxing. My kids enjoyed fishing in their well stocked pond. The kitchens have a refrigerator and microwave. They also have a stove with an oven/broiler. Even pans (which I used to cook some of the fish we caught).
It was fun to relax and play games and watch a movie (the living room has a TV). We also got a clear view of the blood moon (lunar eclipse) while we we there.

My boyfriend and I really enjoyed our stay at the Rio Colorado Cabins. The grounds were beautiful and the cabin had all that we needed. We were able to easily walk around town. We loved that it was dog friendly and that we had a lot of space to walk the dogs around. Anyone we interacted was very friendly. In addition, I left my favorite pillow in the cabin and Rio Colorado shipped my pillow back to me promptly! We would not hesitate to stay again.

We've been going to Red River for an annual trip for the last several years and always stay at the Rio Colorado Cabins. The cabins are located at the end of Main Street, but an easy walk to everything in town. The staff is always polite and the setting is fantastic. The daily visit from deer in the common areas, the river running through the property, direct access to hiking trails, private fishing pond, and cozy cabins make this one of our absolute favorite places to visit. TIP: try to get one of the cabins facing the pond or river. We've stayed in several and like these the best.

This place was awesome! Clean, fully equipped with the basic necessities, walking distance to the little town. Beautiful, quiet, and relaxing . We stayed in unit 6 a 2 story loft. Windows open all the time to hear the peacefully flow of the water and sounds of wildlife. Highly recommend.

We stay here at least twice a year and every single time is wonderful!! The owners and staff are amazing!! The grounds are beautiful and the scenery is breath taking.. If you want a relaxing place to stay, this is it!! See you guys again real soon!! xoxo, The Medinas!!

Very cozy, had a great time fishing in the river and pond that were both right by our cabin.

The cabins were clean, had some graffiti in a couple rooms but it wasn’t that bad.

Generally had a great time would go again!

I can’t say enough good things about Rio Colorado Cabins. I’ve made the 14 hour drive from Houston, TX to Red River, NM four times and always choose to stay here. They are so kind, accommodating, and offer great pricing for their cabins. They’re not right next to the ski lifts, but it is just a very short 3 min drive away. It’s very walkable to everything else! I actually prefer that it’s a little away from the busier part of town because it’s so quiet, right on the Red River, and you get to really take in all the nature. Thanks again for an awesome stay! (Feb 5-9, 2020). See y’all next year :)

Y’all, we literally have zero complaints! I have never reviewed anything in my life, not once. Rio Colorado Cabins deserve all the praise. The beds were so comfy. The kitchen was stocked really well, as far as utensils and pots and pans. I never saw I single bug in the cabin and it’s June. Although, New Mexico has amazing weather!! My husband and I will return hopefully yearly. Also, everyone that stays here just becomes a little community. Everyone is so nice in New Mexico too. Really affordable too at the cabins. You will not regret staying here. Cabin 14 is where we stayed. Perfection!! Fishing is great too at the private pond!! That was my favorite part!!

I have been staying at Rio Colorado Lodges for at least 10 years. Each time I am reminded how wonderful it is. The stocked fishing lake has always been my favorite, but so are picturesque mountains and streams. I love that the kitchen has everything you need and there's enough amenities to be connected. But the rustic and quant cabins still make you feel like you're escaping from the city. This will always be one of my favorite places.

Love this place. Its not fancy but the cabins cozy and have all you need for a weekend out. They have a fishing pond that is stocked and you can fish and catch fish without a license which is nice. The stream is right threw there property and you can hear it all night.

We love these cabins and staying here! Cabins are clean and comfortable and the location is near/walking distance to shops. This is our 2nd time to come and we are looking forward to our next stay!
