A small place that is hard to spot from the road. I had tacos, tamales, and a tostada. All excellent, the best I've had in ages. It reminds me of good food in Guadalajara. The service is informal but good. They took good care of me.

Great service. Food is fresh and cooked to perfection. Huge portions. Show up starving or ask for a go box. Best gas station restaurant I’ve ever had. Stop. You won’t regret it.

If you want American Tacos(bland) go to Taco Bell, if you want a real Taco, this is the place to be. I have only found two places that remind me of the street tacos I grew up on in Arizona, Delicias Mexicanas Cafe is the only one in Va. Check this place out with an open mind, and empty stomach, you will not be disappointed!

Hard to beat this place for authentic Mexican food at a fair price. The tacos are superb, made with fresh, home-made tortillas by a group of lovely Mexican ladies who don't speak a word of English. (Don't worry, they speak English at the counter). Just great food and great prices. Don't let the sketchy exterior fool you. It's located at a gas station and looks like a dump. Looks can be deceiving. Order some food and thank me later. Two thumbs up.

Great experience, great food. I would even go as far as saying they have one of the best tacos in this area. I have ordered all of them in the past several weeks. On point every time!! Gem in Winchester!!!

Posting this because most of the other recent reviews aren't very helpful. It's a definitely a hole in the wall kind of place, not an chain Mexican restaurant. Service is okay they are just there to take orders and bring the check (just wave one over). Honestly I got the impression they don't speak English very well. There's only a few tables so I would recommend putting an order in and taking it to-go. Food wise it's excellent authentic Mexican. It's not for people expecting typical chain restaurant food.

It’s not fine dining, but some of the best Mexican food I’ve had in the area. I used to drive to Manassas and Alexandria for it.
But this place is great and local!
Highly suggest.
Don’t expect fine dining service and be patient and kind. Those ladies are actually cooking it and providing fresh quality ingredients.
Superb food and a fraction of prices elsewhere!

I love stopping by here to pick up a savory, spicy taste of Mexico. I always get carry out but they do have some tables and chairs set up in their modest space. Don’t expect to find nachos or quesadillas here though, only authentic Mexican foods.

I'm a Mexican restaurant adventurer and this is still my favorite place. Simple yet delicious menu. The tacos are very authentic and flavorful, and my favorites are carne asada and al pastor..delicious! Their torta is also one of my favorites, I typically get it at least once a week with takeout, which is very fast and easy. A must try little gem

The food is amazing. The portions are huge and they do made-to-order tortillas. So good. The food was fresh, authentic, and tasty. You can't go wrong here. Very casual atmosphere.

Best Carnitas tacos I've ever had! Hole in the wall Taqueria place that can seat maybe 15 people and does a lot takeout. Got one each of Carnitas, Chorizo, Asada tacos. Asada was solid, Chorizo was excellent with a little more spiciness than you normally get. However the Carnitas taco was the best version of it I have ever had. It was perfectly seasoned and salted and I didn't want to put a drop of salsa on it to cover the taste. Worth stopping in just for it.

I've been to about every "Mexican" restaurant in the Winchester/Martinsburg area and this is the best food. You want to feel like you're in someone's home right in Mexico City? This has got to be it. I don't know the owners and workers well but they make my wife and three little daughters feel like family. They're very kind and friendly. They also makes some amazing empanadas!

The most authentic Mexican food we've tasted in the State of Virginia!! Want real Mexican food? This is it. It's a small, humble location but the quality of the food speaks for itself. Thanks for taking us home with these tacos. DELICIOSO!

Most delicious tacos I've ever had. Haven't tried their other food yet, but the tacos are great and we like the open kitchen, it's fun to watch them cook.

Omg I could eat the steak tostadas every night. It's attached to an ExxonMobil on Berryville Ave/Rt 7. It's an ExxonMobil with two Mexican spots to the right of it. It's the restaurant next to the ExxonMobil, in the middle, not on the far end. I went into the one on the end accidentally.

Delicias is an excellent place for inexpensive, yummy GENUINE Mexican food - NOT TEX-MEX!
You can see the kitchen where your meal is being prepared. Everything is homemade. Tortillas are freshly hand shaped and grilled - not pre-pressed, off-site machine-made, bone dry yucky tortillas that most supposedly Mexican restaurants give you.
Tacos are freshly made warm soft corn torillas wrapped around an ample portion of your many choices of meats topped with freshly minced onion and grown-on-premises, freshly chopped cilantro with a slice of limón (more like lime than lemon) along side. Each taco costs approximately $2.50. Diners can order just one if they wish. I highly recommend the steak, chicken and pork tacos for the American palate. If you're adventerous try the tongue taco. (Please note: Delicias does NOT use ground beef in any dish. When I lived in Mexico, I never saw ground beef much less wanted it over the lean, marinated beef REAL MEXICAN COOKS use.) So if you want stale, grease-laden, machine-manufactured crispy tacos filled with tomato saucy hambuger, browning shredded lettuce, processed shredded cheese and a dollop of God knows how old sour cream - that'll all fall apart upon your first bite - go elsewhere!
Their fajitas are very good!
The carne asada (marinated steak) is also good. Do be aware that it is, like all real carne asada, a tastee but thin well done steak. Carne asada comes with refried beans and Mexican rice.
Delicias Mole (pronounced Moe Ley) is to die for. Its a chicken dish with a very special sauce. I often ask for Chicken Enchiladas Mole so I get all white meat shredded chicken and plenty of "special sauce" and I don't need to mess with chicken bones.
Wondering how Delicias mole sauce tastes? Like nothing Tex-Mex! In this dark sauce, called the national dish of Mexico, the bitter-sweetness of the chocolate subtly counteracts the spiciness of the pepper. Before you say - "OMG yuck!", ask the server (who probably also is a cook) if you may have a small spoonful to taste. Delicias' mole truly is delicious!
Delicias offers another national dish of Mexico = Menudo. Menudo is made with beef stomach (tripe) in broth with a red chili pepper base, hominy, lime, chopped onions, and chopped cilantro are added. As Menudo goes, Delicias' menudo is heavenly. To be totally honest, I find Menudo an acquired taste that I have yet to truly acquire.
Pozole ( pronounced po' so lay), which means "hominy", is also traditional soup or stew from Mexico offered at Delicias. It is made from hominy, with meat (typically pork), and can be seasoned and garnished with shredded cabbage, chile peppers, onion, garlic, radishes, avocado, salsa and/or limón.
The empañadas are considered a side dish along with tamales. The empañadas can be filled with just cheese, just meat or a combo of both. Most of the time, Delicias will happily create whatever filing you wish. But, no matter which fillings are available - Delicias' empeñadas are YUMMY!
I have yet to sample the tamales at Delicias, however, if the tamales are in keeping with the other dishes - they must be excellent with one word of warning. The menu indicates that tamales come with green sauce. Usually - green sauce is made with tomatillos and is MILDER than red sauce. NOT SO HERE! The green sauce at Delicias is powerfully spicy, in fact, too spicy for this reviewer. So - now you're duly forewarned. I do believe that upon request the staff will use a different milder sauce on the tamales.
I could go on and on raving about every item on the menu. But, instead, I invite you to discover the REAL FLAVORS OF MEXICO at Delicias for yourself.
Oh - as far as ambience goes - Delicias is a small, simple cantina with limited seating which is almost always near full to capacity. Please do NOT be put off by that or the fact that most patrons are speaking in Spanish. The food is outstanding and inexpensive. For GENUINE DELICIOUS MEXICAN MEALS - hurry to Delicias!
One last "you should know before you go" - Delicias is only open til 8PM each night except on Mondays when they are closed.

Delicious authentic Mexican food, staff was friendly. The restaurant itself is rather small and the price is affordable :-)
