Doc Ford's Rum Bar & Grille - Ft. Myers Beach

Not so light late lunch. No waiting for a seat on the upper level. As we looked through the menu we enjoyed a beer. Being on the upper level we could compare the items on the menu with the people's plates below. A sneak peek of what truly looked good. Surprisingly it all looked tasty. What I would call a barbecue shrimp is one dish we ordered, side of coleslaw and a fabulous bean dip with chips. We were totally impressed by right amount of spice and heat of the shrimp dish and the bean dish was more than enough for the two of us and we took some home. They often have music in the evenings.

This was the first time we visited this location, but the food is no different than at the Sanibel location. The menu offers great appetizers, meat, seafood dishes and dessert. They offer alcoholic and nonalcoholic drinks. The restaurant has two levels. Bottom level has a bar and live music. The food is really delicious, and prices are reasonable. Service is pleasant and atmosphere is average. I would recommend this restaurant to my friends or family.

Great food and service. Made a reservation a couple of days before so we don’t have to wait. Peel and eat shrimp the the oysters were excellent. Service was top notch, attentive but not rushed. Good drinks. Highly recommend.

This restaurant captures the essence of the Southwest Florida Coast. There are a lot of great choices on the menu including a Seared Tuna Appetizer, Panko Crusted Fish Sandwich, and the Banana Leaf Snapper with Black Beans. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. The waitstaff is attentive. Plenty of parking spots available during our visit. A perfect place to relax and enjoy the scenic views with a tropical drink!

Stopped in for lunch today. Really nice dock gal helped us with the boat. Highly recommend the crab cakes, shrimp tacos and the spicy shrimp Bloody Mary. Server was attentive and responsive. Fun menu with lots of options.

My husband and I went here for a date night while down visiting family and we had such a great time! The environment-right on the water, the food, and our waitress were awesome. Our server was great, she was extremely friendly and helped with choosing our appetizers and main dish since it was our first time there. (Forgot to to pictures of everything we had) We will definitely go back!

Awesome place. We started off with outstanding cocktails and some calamari. The drinks were delicious and you get what you pay for. Very cool location on the water. Loved watching the birds nosediving in to the water. I ordered the salmon and it was delicious.

Great place, great drinks, great service and great food!!! This was our second time here and we are definitely coming more often.

Wow, what an amazing overall experience we had coming to this establishment. The food was all 5 stars delicious and our waiter Kevin.O did a wonderful job explaining the menu and giving amazing suggestions on what to try. Definitely will be coming back. Especially loved the Ceviche and their signature shrimp.

We’ve been taking the boat to Doc Fird’s for years and love the Yucatan Shrimp Tacos. Love, love, love. Great gluten free options too!

While there we also got to see the fantastic staff in action. When a small medical emergency 🚨 occurred to one of their patrons I witnessed their manager Kat and Reese not only be discreet to this lady but stayed attentive to make sure she was taken care of until she recovered.

I will, with out doubt, recommend Doc’s time and time again.

Oh and P.S. -Alexis our server was the best!!!!!. He made my family feel like we were his only clients. Great job 👏🏽!!!!

“This is the best shrimp I’ve ever had in my life!”-my MIL who lived in California for almost two decades. All the food here was delicious! I loved ordering a drink off the special drink menu where $1 of each drink is donated to the local children’s hospital. My toddler had a blast watching the boats come into the marina. She also loved her ice cream sandwich that came with her kid’s meal! Our waitress was super friendly,helpful, and fun. She even took a photo with us! There’s a reason this place has 6,000 reviews and counting. You will not be disappointed!!

Loved the atmosphere, and the food was really good! The hogfish was DELICIOUS! Also tried the wedge salad and Yucatan Shrimp, they were pretty good, too.

We dined here with family in November. We were seated next to the water on the lower deck. Server was excellent and very attentive. They had a separate menu with all their gluten free dishes! Loved that as I have a gluten sensitivity. I enjoyed a very tasty margarita, the Yucatan shrimp with bread and the shrimp ceviche for starters. For my main I had the mahi mahi which came with very tasty rice. A guitarist was performing as we ate. He was quite good and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Would definitely come back.

I highly recommend the steak!! It was excellent. We sat at the bar because they was busy and we didn't want to wait. The bar tender was very nice but not very attentive too us (we had been at the beach and wasn't dressed up) She was making drinks in front of us and was spilling and flinging stuff every where. I appreciate getting good service and it shows in the tip (great, good or bad). I would recommend Doc Ford's just maybe not sitting at the bar. This was our 3 time eating at a Doc Ford's.

Great seafood and a great venue made this a favorite stop during the week that we spent in Florida. The Buffalo Shrimp was the best ever, nothing else that I've ever had compares.

Slow down and stay a while! The dockside dining is beautiful, the drinks are masterful blends and the food is excellent! Live music, not sure how many nights, but definitely on the weekends.

Amazing food!! Michelle G provided wonderful service. We had the Yucatan shrimp (interesting, with huge shrimp,) blackened shrimp tacos, and the shrimp ceviche. The Yucatan shrimp comes in a hot sauce with cilantro, garlic, and peppers. Very good. The blackened shrimp tacos were very tasty. But the shrimp ceviche took the prize! Perfectly balanced flavors. Eat with the chips or alone. The best $10 we spent the whole trip. Support Sanibel Island businesses while treating yourself to wonderful food.

Crispy calamari, delicious shrimp, & cool drinks. What’s not to like? We sat outside & enjoyed the nice weather under some shade. Will visit again for seafood & drinks.

Not just another generic seafood restaurant. Doc Fords delivered on so many levels.

My wife and I ate on the lower patio area and were able to listen to an amazing live performance while enjoying an equally amazing view of the water, fish, and birds.

Dan was our server. He had great recommendations, made us feel at home, and you could tell he genuinely enjoyed working at Doc’s… Dan was the man!

We split everything. The tuna appetizer was fresh and came with a great wasabi sauce and was served over a delicious Asian salad. The shrimp ceviche was great. The chips were a little salty for my wife’s liking but she just scraped some of the salt off.

For our entree, we had the seafood bake with scallops, shrimp, and grouper. The price was around $34 which was a great value.

I would also recommend the bloody marry with the Yucatán shrimp and spicy vodka. The shrimp and sauce was out of this world and the bloody marry is now in my top 5 that I’ve ever had.

Our whole experience was amazing and I would recommend Doc Fords 10/10.

First time going and it did not disappoint. Great food, service, view and had love music. Will definitely be going back again.
