La Canela

We’ve visited a few times and consistently enjoyed both the food and service. The beef heart is our favorite, but everything we’ve tried has been delicious. We wish they opened earlier for lunch, as my coworkers and I have considered getting lunch there, but we usually eat earlier. Highly recommend this place for anyone wanting to try something different in the area.

I highly recommend La Canela! The food, atmosphere, and staff are truly wonderful! My wife and I recently got married, doing a small (~20 person) wedding, and we chose La Canela for the reception. They have a semi-private upstairs that worked out great for our party. Lilian and the staff were so nice and accommodating for what we needed, and our guests really loved the food and atmosphere. I have tried the ceviche, Tomate palta, and the Lomo Saltado, and all were delicious. The street is closed off to traffic, so it's a really great place to have lunch or dinner and then walk around. I highly recommend it!

Service: We were seated immediately. Our waiter was friendly and knowledgeable, and gave us recommendations on what to order. We also had an extra appetizer, compliments of the chef, which was a very nice touch!

Food: For appetizers, we got the anticuchos and ceviche pescado - both were delicious and paired with amazing sauces. And the entrees.... I'm still thinking about the Lenguado and how delicious it was. Super crispy fish fried to perfection 🤩. And the Arroz Con Mariscos was to die for.

Atmosphere: Cozy vibes, dim lighting, super cute decor....everything here was on point.

HIGHLY recommend stopping by this place for dinner the next time you're in Rockville. I know I'm looking forward to my next visit already ;P

Excellent. Fantastic. Loved it. Service was so accommodating (especially given our many dietary restrictions). They gave us a complimentary ceviche wonton that was delicious. Food was amazing! (And I’ve been blessed to have lots of delicious Peruvian food in my life!) Great balance of innovation with traditional Peruvian cuisine. My favorite spot in Rockville for sure!

Been here a few times, food is always amazing. Convenient location, friendly staff, and most importantly, delicious food. Every item we ordered was superb. Highly recommend A++

What a wonderful find. Peruvian food with Ceviche and squid with Tigers mik, Duck, seafood with fried rice, and much more. The spices/and sauces were delightful.

Really very good experience. Just ate ceviche and " picarones" but the are very taste. And the place is very similar to my Lima.The waitress was very nice and respectful. Congratulations.

Awesome!!! Picked this place at random because I want to taste Peruvian foods. It was incredible. I liked all the dishes, but I loved the middle food of the first picture and free appetizer of the second picture. Flavor itself was very interestingly complex. Strongly recommend, and I will definitely come back.

Very nice spot for Peruvian food in Rockville. The interior itself is great and makes for a nice atmosphere. I had the Seco de Cabrito, and man was it delicious. For the table we shared a Ceviche, Causa & Salchipapa. Really enjoyed dining here!

Best Peruvian restaurant in the DMV, there is no comparison. The food brings me back to childhood flavors and grandma’s cooking. The ambiance is beautiful, a great date spot, and service is great.
Oscar and Ronnie always give the best drinks and service. If you haven’t been, this place is a must go! The fusion, ceviche, and tallarines verdes are exceptional! You really can’t go wrong with anything you choose at La Canela!

I loved this! We went here for our anniversary, and it was so perfect. The atmosphere was lovely, and every waiter and waitress that stopped by was kind and gracious. We got a free treat from the chef, and it was awesome. Seriously, if you are looking for a new spot - try it.

This is one of the best peruvian Restaurant I ever had. All the food including the drinks were Excellent. I recommend the chicken causa for appetizer.. it is so delicious. And I also recommend the pescado a lo macho entrée.

Outstanding food and service. This is authentic Peruvian food at its best. The staff was super attentive and accommodating. Would recommend to anyone.

We got the Trucha (Fried rainbow trout) and the duck leg confit.
The trout was nicely done and the pickled onions that came with it complemented the fish and rice. However, the lentils that came with it were a little salty for my taste.
The duck was great, very tender and juicy. The puree that came with it was buttery and savory.
Overall, worth the price you spend here.

I discovered this restaurant not so long ago, I was in the area walking with a friend and we were hungry we looked up restaurants near by and this was one of the top place with great reviews about their Lomo Saltado. We had the curiosity to try it and went inside, the stuff was friendly and attentive and we were gladly greeted with a delicious seafood appetizer (incredibly good!) then we order the Lomo Saltado and Pollo Saltado we tried their Pisco and a glass of Terra Nova, great wine by the way! All and all amazing experience and would definitely be back another time we’re around. 👌🏽

We recently hosted a private luncheon at La Canela for ~30 people to celebrate a family milestone and it was a wonderful experience from start to finish. From our initial online inquiry, Lilian was highly responsive over many emails, building a menu, reserving the full first floor area, and accommodating dietary restrictions. The event was being planned remotely so we didn't have a chance to visit the restaurant in advance and were hoping everything would work out as planned. And I'm happy to say it was far better than expected!

The service team at La Canela were attentive from the start, helping guests get started with drinks while they waited, then kicking off service with a delicious ceviche wonton amuse-bouche. The plated lunch menu had a nice variety of offerings and the food was wonderful, with very large portions. The short ribs and the trout were among our family's favorites.

We unexpectedly needed to order a few dishes that were not on the event menu and the team handled that seamlessly. Our party spent a lot of time talking and toasting the guest of honor, and we ultimately rang a bit longer than our reserved event time. Lilian and the staff were extremely gracious and worked so we could finish our dessert and close the event without being rushed out.

Overall staff were so kind and accommodating of everyone; we felt welcome and they truly provided top notch service. None of us had ever dined at La Canela before and I imagine many people will return. Many thanks to the team for helping us celebrate a very special member of our family!

Great ambiance, really good food, and excellent service. Good menu options--although it could be expanded a bit to include more Peruvian popular dishes. Overall, one of the best Peruvian restaurants in the DC Metro area along with La Limeña and Las Canteras.

Legit Peruvian spot! I tried the lomo saltado, anticuchos, leche de tigre, and pisco sour. Everything was delicious. Also tried the rice and beans for the kiddo and that was great too. I'm picky with my Peruvian food and this place was everything I wanted and more :)
