I expected a horrible experience, but luckily the information person, and Laura at fast tracking were very polite and efficient. Let's see how the rest turns out... It turned out just fine. They told me when I arrived it would be a couple of hours and that is exactly how long it took. I did witness two cases of people arguing with the staff, but in one case the couple did not have all the requirements, and in the other, what the lady wanted to do was not possible (the staff person even turned around the computer to show the customers what the actual county law stated). I am usually NOT a fan of government agencies, but in this case the experience exceeded my expectations.

I have been having issues with a commercial permit for the past few months. I went down to the office (which is beautiful and very clean) and was able to speak to a commercial property representative within 20 minutes. Maurice was very clear in the steps we are at and what needs to be done. I really appreciated his attitude and helpfulness. Thank you!

both online and the permit office will take care of you permit techs work very hard and when needing something or if there is any questions they help you in getting your permits completed. Montgomery county permit techs and inspectors should be praised. A++++++++++++++ in my book

I expected, from the other reviews, for it to be a pain but the office was very nice and I was in and out with my new operator license in less than an hour.

They have their drone up there of the building flying sometimes I have seen them on Tuesday and Wednesday.

The building reviewers are extremely inconsistent. Most times I can get 2x6 T & G sheathing with (2) 2x8 rafters 48" O.C then sometimes they tell me I need a structural engineer stamp. The Land development has gone over the top with making contractors provide storm water management for decks over 400 Sq FT. The zoning department is always helpful and consistent.

It boggles my mind how slow this place is. I came here today with every piece of paperwork completed and ready to go. It still will take them two days to process one little permit for me that actually takes one second to issue electronically.

Apparently there is only ONE employee in the whole county that can issue the permit and they are "in a meeting" today. Sure hope they don't call in sick, the whole county could have to shut down for the day.

And by the way Montgomery County, the phone number on the application form has not worked for over three years and the web link is broken. You should change your county motto to "404 page not found"

The online application process for permitting is awful. If there is anything other than an HOA letter request everything will take FOREVER.
If you request to have a permit cancelled or deleted they will not do it. If you try to get through 311 they tell you to send in a written request. ONE person that I spoke with actually got something done. Shut the Epermits down and let me waste my time in the permitting office. I least then I might get something done... FRUSTRATED.

My experience with the permitting process and harassment from site inspectors has convinced me to no longer conduct business in this county. It is simply not worth the headache.

I wish I could speak better of this office, but my endeavor in getting permits for a simple addition approved has been a complete nightmare. Some of the people I have spoken to in the last several months have been professional and helpful, and some have acted as if I was an imposition when I politely requested help with their unfathomable website. Their emails are of the "do not reply" type, without specific identity of the sender, so any immediate clarifications with regard to their messages can not be asked conveniently. In order to get individual attention, customers need to put a request into MC 311 and then wait up to two days for a response. The inefficiency and general lack of concern for customers has added a considerable cost to my project due to delays and outright errors on their part. Their communication skills are very poor, and their website follows suit. Their website needs to be completely revamped. It is truly miserable.
