I have had an incredible experience training at Gracie Lake Norman Jiu Jitsu, and I can't speak highly enough about Professor Ranard Brown and the entire coaching team. Professor Brown is not only an exceptional instructor but also incredibly welcoming. Gracie Jiu Jitsu can be very challenging at times, but Ranard always finds ways to inspire and encourage you to reach your greatest potential. I have been to several schools in the last year, and GLKN is truly the best!

If you are in the area of Statesville, Mooresville, Troutman, Cornelius, Concord, Lake Norman. I highly encourage you to go to these mats! Classes are like mini seminars very detailed instructions information and explanations. The students are respectful and eager to learn. A reflection of their Instructor(s). I will be joining this gym anytime i visit my hometown. So, yes if you are visiting from out of town, and end up in this (704) area GO TO GRACIE LAKE NORMAN BJJ!

We love Gracie LKN! My son joined in January and has learned a ton...physically, mentally, and emotionally. This husband/wife team is well-equipped to provide an amazing opportunity for people of all ages. Leigh Ann is super welcoming and it is apparent that this duo cares deeply about what they do and take pride in the space they are creating. The studio is clean and comfortable. We love that Ranard spends time coaching the kids not only on the technical skills of Jiu-Jitsu, but he also invests time in discussing the same virtues we try to teach at home. It has been an amazing opportunity for my son to grow in discipline and skill while being encouraged to keep a positive attitude and growth mindset. It doesn't take long to feel a part of the GLKN family!

The owners Ranard and Leighann at GLKN have been so welcoming to our family as our child enrolled in their 4-7 year old program. High quality program with wonderful people. Couldn't recommend GLKN more to anyone who wants to start their journey in Jui-Jitsu.

Ranard is an absolutely amazing coach! He walks you through every step of the move to make sure you get a good understanding of it and explains why he teaches you this move. He only shows you the moves you can actually apply in real situations. Highly recommend his classes!

We have brought our kids here for the last year. My son has ADHD and struggles with focus. The change I have seen in him this past year blows our minds. This family and coach Ranard are amazing with our kids. They truly love the students here and want what's best for them. They pour into them in more ways than just teaching them Jiu-Jitsu. Sometimes, it's through tough love and conversations, but it works. It's a fun energy here, and we have seen so much growth in all the students here in their skills and their emotional and mental maturity. My husband and I give credit to this program and the coaches for the amazing blessings and changes we have seen in our kids. Our daughter is 11, and we feel so confident in her skills to withstand any attack, verbally or physically, if ever in that situation. This is an investment in your children when you enroll them in this school for so many reasons. I would give 10 stars if I could! Ranard and co. at Gracie jiu jitsu lake Norman are all great and I would definitely recommend! I’ve trained jiu jitsu for 3-4 years, currently a blue belt with some prior wrestling as well. I was just in town for the week on vacation and looking to get some training in. Ranard welcomed me with opened arms and was extremely helpful to correct some of my current techniques and offer new suggestions to try out when I go back to my gym in Chicago. It was blatantly obvious that he was very knowledgeable and skilled. He also rolled with me for several rounds and was very kind/generous the whole time there making me feel at home. For anyone just getting into jiu jitsu or looking for a new gym, I would definitely recommend checking this place out!

A great place to practice jiu jitsu! Professor Ranard creates a very welcoming environment, and clearly puts extensive thought into his lessons. Additionally, they gave me a great price as a college student. I look forward to continuing to train here!

Renard is incredibly dedicated to his students and giving them the best training and support they need. He has gone above and beyond to help my child realize her potential. Taylor had trained for 4 years at another academy and we never realized that there could be so much of a difference. No one has done more to further my child's jujitsu journey than Renard. Our family loves Gracie Lake Norman. Our two boys (ages 5 & 8) have been taking classes since July, and it has been a wonderful experience for all of us. The atmosphere that Ranard and Leigh Ann have created is truly unique. This being our first experience with Jiu-Jitsu I didn’t expect it to be warm and inviting; but the Browns have a beautiful way of making you feel like family while still teaching you the precise skills needed to effectively defend yourself and others around you. Not only that, but they are also a well of wisdom when it comes to good character, honor and self-control. They teach so much more than just Jiu-Jitsu moves. I am so thankful that this is the studio we chose and that my boys will be well equipped for whatever they encounter in the future. To me, that is priceless. Thank you, Gracie Lake Norman!

Top notch work ethic, the most fun I’ve had in years!! At 47, overweight and nervous about joining a sport that seems like a young persons game, the folks at Gracie Lake Norman have been wonderful. Moves are modified during class for those who may not be flexible or have mobility issues. And the pounds are coming off!! I highly recommend anyone who is second-guessing BJJ due to age or weight! AND If you are looking to have your child join the children and teens classes are top notch!!

Gracie LKN has been one of the best things to happen to my sons and I. The sense of community and positivity fostered by Ranard is the best! My oldest son has learned the confidence and life skills to overcome his extreme shyness. The training from Ranard and his team are helping my sons learn how to be good men. This also applies to the adult classes. For a woman, training jiu jitsu has given me confidence in my day to day life, more incentive to lead a healthier lifestyle and is just so much fun! It is a certainty that you will smile and laugh each time you enter the doors. I cannot recommend training jiu jitsu at Gracie LKN enough!

Gracie Lake Norman fosters the kind of environment that is both empowering and uplifting for adults and children. My boys and I have gone to martial arts gyms before, and they can often feel regimented and oppressive. Ranard purposefully creates an atmosphere that helps people feel comfortable embracing the uncomfortable - ultimately, helping every student grow beyond their own perceived limits. Gracie LKN is incredible. They don’t just teach Jiu Jitsu they equip people to be better and to overcome obstacles and adversity. Life lessons are taught here. This is a Jiu Jitsu school but it’s a family and a very special place.

We started with Ranard and Leigh Ann six months ago for my son, age 6 at that time. Within the first month we knew it was a great decision. Not only did he love his time training (by having fun) but his self-confidence began to increase and even at a young age he can see the benefits of the training. Ranard is such a professional and knows the sport as well as anyone and Leigh Ann is an absolute pleasure to work with administratively. We feel honored to be part of the Gracie Jiu Jitsu LKN family. My 4 year old daughter has been training for a few months now. She has been given the tools to deal with uncomfortable situations and the confidence as a kid to stand up for herself before she’s in those situations in real life.
