We posted on Summit Connections and built a crew of 8 with 3 from Las Vegas, 3 from Signal Mountain, TN and 2 of us from NYC. The group met on Zoom leading up to meeting at New River Gorge the day before embarking on the New River Experience.
We were paired with units from across the Midwest. Total of 36 plus guides. The guides were outstanding, professional and made the trip fun. Everyone got along. Scouts made the food and it was great. Adults cooked the steak dinner in the final night before the more advanced whitewater.
The side trips to the waterfall and the ghost town were excellent.
For high adventure this is pure pleasure as much relaxing as exhilarating. On either side of the trip we enjoyed all the activities in base camp plus the Zip line.
The Scouts were able to complete Whitewater and Kayaking MB but only because we prepared in advance and brought a counselor. Summit was not set up to support it as the guides are private contractors. However, we shared the MB requirements with them and they jumped in to help at each step.
I enjoyed this more than Philmont and Northern Tier !

We just back from the New River Experience. Highly recommend this high adventure! We covered 45+ miles on the river. The water was flowing around 5200 cubic feet, so lots of fun taking the duckies through the white water. We went over class 1-4 rapids in them. Each breakfast and dinner was hot, cooked by the scouts. Lunch was sandwiches and sides. We slept in the camps right along the river. Some nights in Jambo tents, others in canvas tents with cots provided and some nights under the stars in the ducky. Bring plenty of sun screen! We had to reapply at lunch because we had 90% sun shine while on the water. We had two side hikes, make sure you go on them. Our scout guides made it a really great, memorable trip. The last day we hit the class 5 rapids in eight people rafts. Can't wait to go back.

Wow!
This place is fantastic. So many activities to keep your self occupied. Swimming, boating, shooting, fishing, mountain bike riding, climbing, river rafting, zip lining.
What’s especially unusual about this particular camp (compared to all the others I have been to in the BSA system), is that this campground is only about 10 years old. The infrastructure is fantastic. There are water bottle filling stations everywhere, electrical outlets everywhere, solid Internet and cell phone service throughout the park. Showers are heated with a tankless hot water system! Yes it’s still camping, but it’s 21st century camping. Our crew spent a week kayaking/river rafting down the New River and we had a blast. Highly recommended!

The place where all 24th world scout jamboree scouts stayed at, including me. I had so much fun time there as a scout and the scenery is just picturesque. During there, I’ve met so many new people and made so many friends, and had one of the best times there, I would really like to have another jamboree there👌🏻. There are many fun facilities to enjoy and a great place for camping.

If you're looking for a Scouting adventure, this is the place from whitewater rafting, climbing, ATV treks, Zip line, mountain bike treks and much more. Also a great place to take your family on a getaway.

Went here for the 2023 National Scout Jamboree. Made memories that will last a lifetime. If you get the opportunity to attend this camp in any capacity, you will not be disappointed!

Plenty of opportunities for outdoor adventure!

I have now visited three times. Rach time, it is obvious that they are investing in infrastructure. There are now warm showers in selected campsites.

I have visited each program area during Jamborees at least once. Volunteer staffers offer exceptional program in a safe manner.

Great facility, beautiful! Gravel paths everywhere, solar-heated showers, flush toilets! Water stations along trails, lakes. Former strip mine totally transformed into premiere Scout camp. Beautiful West Virginia mountains. Photos taken during Boy Scout National Jamboree in July 2017.

Great camp for scouts. The local public needs to check out all its unique features it has to offer. Deluxe camping option, mountain bike trails or just a excellent place to hike to see nature.

This is an awesome place where we had our 24th World Scout Jamboree which was fascinating. We were constantly made aware of the limitations we are supposed to follow when going hikes and walking through the paths as there are bears and other creatures that we don't want to mess with. But anyways, this place is massive. The whole jamboree itself didn't use the entire place. According to the history, it was handed over to the Boy Scouts Of America by the Bechtel Family which was a very wealthy family.

My troop did the Summer Camp at Summit. They were very short staffed (like all camps), but the staff worked hard to provide a great experience for the campers with their limited time and resources. We enjoyed the experience, but we do not plan to come back for summer camp. There are several camps closer and cheaper with comparable activities.

This place is great for people who like adventure and excitement. Loads of activities to do and you try things you’ve never have done before. In the summer it gets very warm however cools down a lot at night! There is a bus service to take you around the campsite if you don’t feel like walking. As the site is so big, it sometimes takes a couple of hours walk to get somewhere

I love this camp. I went here, in the summer of 2018, with a scout troop. It was a really great experience, that we will all remember for the rest of our lives. We did something called the Summit Experience. This envolved ropes courses, archery, shot gun and rifle shooting,
kayaking, and BMX biking. The food here, that they served, was really great. That staff is super nice and friendly. If you have the opportunity, I would definitely recommend going to this camp.

Went there for multiple Spartan races in a weekend. This place is absolutely beautiful and would love to check it out for some recreational activities outside of Spartan races.

Our son is teaching the mountain bike trails. This is a massive boyscout camp. There is some family glamping avail if you are not a scout and open to public. Saw three bears, deer turkey and just beautiful.

Came here for the world scout jamboree and the facilities were perfect. They had fun enjoyable activities while also practical camping with a bit of beautiful scenery thrown in. The site and staff smoothly and cleany functioned with their operation under the strain over 44,000 scouts. Well done and thank you
