First time visiting the store and I was impressed. When I walked in, I felt nostalgic, like I was back at those cool little comic stores of the 80's. All American has a lot to offer and the staff was great. Very knowledgeable. I ended up finding a few hard to get issues of series other comic stores did not carry anymore. And the prices were reasonable. Would definitely go back.

Great shop, the proprietor, Carl, is a wealth of knowledge and more than fair in his pricing. Outstanding inventory of silver and bronze age comic books. In my opinion, All American Comics is the hidden gem of the southwest suburbs and without equal in terms of it's catalogue of back issues. All American Comics is a true, old school comic shop that always takes care of it's loyal patrons.

I have been a customer at All American Comics Shops for 30 years. I have gotten nothing less than professional service. The selection is excellent, and Carl has never charged high prices on any "variant" or "hot" book. I have seen other shops gouge customers for the flavor of the month! Their prices are far below all others on back issues. The employees are always clean ! If you want to be treated fairly, head on over there and join the fun!

The owner, Carl, is friendly, helpful, and downright charming. He has an obvious passion for his industry and an amazing knowledge set thereof. Not there to strictly make a buck, he promotes the world of comics and the overall fun and entertainment value for/of his customer.

I am a second generation subscriber at All American Comics. My dad starting taking me to the shop when I was 7/8 and I have been taking my son since he was born. There is a reason that I have stayed at All American Comics. Carl is an owner who cares about his subscribers and always tries his best to make sure you get any book you need. He never over charges for the variant or special edition books. Give him a try, you will not be disappointed.

I've been a reader and customer of Carl's for a decade now, and in my time as a wandering nomad before settling on the ONLY real comic books store worth a damn, I saw all of the local surrounding stores. In that time frame of lost consciousness, I can say that once I walked into All-American I was immediately welcomed into the fold with exemplary knowledge, great service, easy-to-navigate racks (which are impeccably arranged), and an overall easy and fun atmosphere. As one fine customer before me said, if you're looking for the "Flavor-of-the-Month" type books and the rudimentary Variant covers for profit over reading, then you might wish to venture elsewhere. Carl is, without a doubt, the most knowledgeable and personable "comic guy" out there. I have been around him long enough to know one of the things that vexes him is the fact that kids are not reading as much; he espouses all of the wonders and values of reading these books because he LOVES the medium! He genuinely cares about the industry, hence his tireless efforts to keep the industry going with his store! I can only say that All-American Comics is for the SERIOUS reader and ardent fan of the books; he is as serious as they come, but he also knows how to be a big kid in an industry that has all but lost its youthful delegates to computers, video games and other peripheral distractions. If you honestly want to to visit a store in your area that will bend over backwards to keep you interested in the books and happy as a customer, go in and see Carl and his staff. There are simply not enough backhanded or anonymous blurbs below that can possibly denigrate this place; jealousy is a bad motivator. Carl's had loyal customers still with him for over 30-years - the "I's" seem to have it! Stop in and see him and see how fun the shop is at all times!

I am relatively new to comics. I have been going to All-American comics for almost 15 years now. The reason I have gone from reading 15 comics a month to more than 40 comics a month is because of the owner Carl. He has been helpful in expanding my knowledge comics. He answers questions I have about references made to things I am unaware because I am relatively new to comics. Carl has also encouraged me to expand my readings from predominantly modern books to some silver age as well now. The “regulars” in the shop share their knowledge willingly. If this was not a great business I would not be a loyal customer for the last 15 years.

I have been a customer for over 3 decades and have no complaints. Carl will help you find needed back issues and is a fair and accurate grader. With Carls help I now have several complete runs of major titles and have acquired many, many golden age titles with his assistance or through his stock. It is worth your while if you are a serious collector to stop in and look through the hundreds of back issues in stock ( unless it really, really bothers you that not all of them are backboarded ) Well worth the visit!!!

By far the best Comic Shop I've been too, that’s why I've been traveling out of my way to go there since I've moved out of Evergreen Park. Employee's are courteous and helpful and will go out of their way to get you the book you want. I've NEVER been ripped off there, always get a fair price for the books I want, which I cannot say about other comic shops I’ve been too.

These guys were so kind to me when I came in to ask a few questions about my favorite and only comic. I know I've gone in years ago as a kid when I first moved to EP . I wish I would have asked questions then, because it was the same guy, and same kind manner with an obvious love for what he does . I'll be back for sure.

I have been a customer at All-American Comics for over 30 years; I was 13 when I first started shopping here and have literally grown up in the place.

The owner, Carl, and his staff REALLY and truly love reading comics and this is reflected in how they do business; they want to make the books accessible and affordable to new and longtime readers alike.

New books, which means the current issue of a title AND the two prior months of a book, are sold at COVER PRICE!! They never gouge customers by selling 'hot" titles from last week or "variants" for more than cover price.

Back issues, ie anything older than three months, are sold at no more than fair market value and almost always less. This IS NOT one of those stores that double price guide values and then give you a "discount" off the inflated price. Carl, the owner, is a skilled and accurate comics grader, so if you are buying a "very fine" comic you can rest assured it is in "very fine" condition or maybe even better.

They have a wide selection of Hardcovers and Trade Paperbacks and if they don't have it in stock, they'll try their best to get it for you.

And finally, last months books may not be bagged and boarded on the rack, but they do have a fine selection of collector's supplies so you can do it yourself and not pay for the overhead of someone else doing it for you.

All-American is a Reader's store. It's been open for over thirty years and under the same ownership for it's entire existance. It's likely the only store in Illinois that still sells comics to a large number of it's original customers in addition to their children and grandchildren!!

If you love comics, the characters, and the stories in them, and actually want to BUY comics... this is the store for you.

If you only collect comics that are variant covers and/or the latest "hot" issue or trend (Zombies, Death of so-and-so issues, etc) to get you rich quick... This store may not be for you. I'm sure you can find another store on google to cater to your needs, that will be out of business in six months.

My name is is Mr Vo and I approve of this message...

The longest-running comics store in Illinois that's still open-- and still open for a reason! No one does it better than All American! This shop is full of history, so go buy all your copies of Saga from Carl!

One of the few places where you can browse undisturbed or ask questions without getting condescending comments. Staff is knowledgeable, prices are reasonable on back issues, and they carry a large variety of books from many publishers.

A small but well-stocked shop with a good selection of indies and back issues. The attentive staff will help you find whatever you're looking for and order it if it's not in stock.
