Hononegah Forest Preserve

A great little campground, the host was a pleasure as well. Kayaking and fishing off the river. Wild turkeys were right off the campsite, which gave for some pretty wild noises all night. Tent camping $13 resident $23 non resident of Winnebago county. This is a per tent fee from my understanding not per campsite. $7 firewood bundle about 12 pieces. Hike trail (path rather) was a great little scenic walk.

Beautiful surroundings! Great for getting away from it all and kicking back to relax! One of my regular places!

I visited park to stop and have my tacos while enjoying outdoor.
I love this park with very deep green oaks,hickory trees and lot of wild life.
I walked around campground and found only one camper and host there.
Interesting, sites do gave electricity and water. It is boat launch in the park.

Great hiking trails. You can go by the river too. I like to take my phone and use the
"Seek" app. It identifies the plants and animals that you find while hiking.

A nice area with trails that spread out in several directions. Picnic areas that are easy to drive up to. There are pit toilets which is rare for the Illinois and Wisconsin preserves around here. Plenty of wildlife and animal sign by the river.

Beautiful spot not far from town. Almost nobody here!

I grew up camping here with my family and now that I'm 29 I still enjoy camping here. The hosts are very friendly and helpful. The sites are clean and spacious. Most of the other campers are courteous and have been camping here for many years. The price for wood is not bad and it's always available. The hosts will even deliver it to your site if you buy so much of it. They have water at the front if you need it and places for tents and rvs. If you like fishing then on the other side of the park is the river. If you like to hike then your in luck, there are trails running throughout. Some of the sites have electric. I just love this place and I hope you will to.

We used to love the drive thru Rock cut State Park. We always saw deer, but since they started having deer hunts there, it is not as nice. Hononegah on the other hands is much better and always see deer.

This place was amazing. The camp sites are far enough away from each other, so we were secluded. The host people were very nice and helpful. I definitely recommend camping at the Forest Preserve.

It was great to visit my old stomping grounds from when I was a kid. It's still the same as it was and can really appreciate the natural beauty of this place. Great place to unwind and relax.

Great forest preserve. Very well maintained. Great place for a walk, run, bike ride, picnic.

It's not large, but it's a beautiful park and has some nice camping areas.

Nice trails and nice scenery to look at!
Not as buggy as you would think it would have been that close to the water! And the mushrooms!

This is a layed back campground that never seems to get too crowded. Perfect for tent campers although they have some RV sites as well. Electricity is limited for the 2019 season FYI.

Very quiet place of you need time to think. Beautiful park.

Great place for a hike, but with the snow melt the trails maybe muddy.

Underappreciated local forest preserve containing the epitome of Midwest foliage, smells, and wildlife: enjoy sparse monotone ground coverage, the perpetual permeation of 'earthiness' from the slow moving creek, and the occasional squirrel. A solid 10/10 that is a cornerstone of Rockton Illinois

Very nice park! Secluded/sheltered sites. Lots of trails to explore.
