After our hike in Minnewaska State Park and strolling through the Antiques Barn, my wife and I spent our 2nd Wedding Anniversary dinner here at The Parish. At first, we thought it was just a tavern, but surprisingly as soon as the doors were open, we are amazed by the immediate greeting and the delicious smell. Paulina was very nice, attentive, and simply awesome in serving us and explaining the specials of that evening. We enjoyed both our Chicken and Steak Specials along with our drinks and dessert! We highly recommend this gem!

The dining experience at The Parish in New Paltz was nothing short of a culinary delight. The journey began with a trio of appetizers that set the stage for an unforgettable meal. The Chicken Wings were bursting with flavor, the Gator Bites were superbly executed, and the Fried Okra was a delightful crispy treat.

Moving on to the mains, both the Gumbo and Jambalaya struck the perfect balance of spice, delivering an authentic taste of the South. The well-crafted dishes showcased a mastery of flavors that left our taste buds thoroughly satisfied.

Our server, Paulina, played a crucial role in enhancing our overall experience. Her attentiveness and courteous service added a personal touch to the evening, making us feel well taken care of throughout our meal.

The Parish's commitment to quality ingredients and skilled preparation was evident in every dish, creating a dining experience that exceeded our expectations. The ambiance, a mix of southern charm and welcoming warmth, provided the perfect backdrop for a memorable evening.

In conclusion, The Parish at New Paltz is a culinary gem that deserves high praise. From the flavorful starters to the perfectly spiced main courses, every aspect of our dining experience was top-notch. I wholeheartedly recommend The Parish to anyone seeking a taste of the South in a welcoming and delightful setting. We left with satisfied palates and a strong desire to return for more.

Well didn't we fall lucky? We were heading to a different place for lunch but it was closed. Lucky for us that, ( and a delicious aroma, ) led us to this "one of a kind find!" When the locals offer you a mouthful of their delicious choices, no televisions, just views from the bar like no other, fantastic service topped off with the best meal out we in a long time, you know we'll be back for sure. Hope to see you there, and don't worry, we will pay it forward! Yummmmmmm.

Had a meal at the bar, and even on a Saturday night, there was still no delay in service.

Really engaging and fun staff, and a good selection of options for food. Had their jambalaya and it was delicious! Great drink selections as well (beer, wine, cocktails, etc.)

Small place, but the atmosphere makes it really cozy and relaxing.

Good recommendation for some casual Cajun food. If it's nice outside, I also recommend sitting on their outside patio.

This is a great small spot! Have been here three times so far. All of which have been a great experience. And have a nice outdoor seating view towards Mohawk ridge. It is a small establishment, so expect limited seating on peak service days. The quality of service has been consistent my times that I have been there. Love their Cajun style and their crafted drinks! Bless the Chefs and the staff!

I've been going here since 2020. This place a top favorite of mine in New Paltz. Today would the first time, unfortunately, where the service was subpar. My wife and I waiting for about an hour for just two sandwiches while the house had 12 covers. The oysters were poorly shucked. Thankfully my drink was spot-on, as always. This was our first time during lunch time so maybe we'll stick to dinner. We'll still be back, I'm sure it had to be a mistake on the kitchen or something.

Wonderful welcoming atmosphere and super delicious food. I ate the Shrimp & Grits and Shishito Peppers that were on special. Both items were the best I’ve ever had.

I have been coming to Water St Market for YEARS and somehow never knew this place existed! So glad to have found it! We got the lobster roll & oysters (both specials), gumbo, and jambalaya. All were excellent. Great cocktails, friendly service, beautiful views!

Good food, good service & good atmosphere! Had the gumbo with chicken, andouille sausage and crawfish - excellent! It looked and smelled so good that I forgot to take a picture before jumping in.

I treated myself on my birthday to dinner and drinks. It was after 6p on a Thursday night. It’s a small and cozy spot with a few people at the bar and a couple of us seated. I started with two unique tequila drinks. I then had the chopped salad with blue cheese crumbles, followed by the shrimp with grits. It’s my new favorite. I never would have put those two together. I want to go back and try more appetizers and another entree.

Tucked away upstairs on the second floor is a jewel of a restaurant. Great service, fresh delicious and well presented, reasonable prices. Cocktails were fantastic and imaginative. Not too hot, or overspiced, with options for vegans and meat eaters as well. Indoor and outdoor seating. I ordered the halibut special... Perfectly cooked fish over asparagus and blackened baby potatoes topped with frizzled garlic scrapes, side of blackened string beans. Don't miss this wonderful place for a great meal. Gator bites!... Po' boys! Great New Orleans food!!!

Me and my roommates and a couple friends wanted to grab a bite to eat in new paltz but we wanted to try a spot we haven’t had before, we found this little spot right behind water street market. The spot seemed very relaxed but really nice, welcoming feeling. We got the gator bites, Cajun wings, and crab cake as sone starters and everything was absolutely delicious, the wings had a great flavor with sone heat, and the gator bites tasted like spicy chicken, the hanger steak was so good, excellent color and flavor, cake with a truffle sauce that truly made it all come together, the waitress was fantastic very helpful definitely looking forward to going back.

I love this place and every time I'm in New Paltz I'm getting my dinner there. Although I'm not big enthusiast of fried food, I really like this place, my favorite is buffalo cauliflower and fried okra. When the wheather is nice you can have your lunch or dinner outside with a great view on the Catskill Ridge.

Excellent small restaurant with superb New Orleans-style food, a friendly, attentive wait staff, and great view of the Shawangunk Mountains from the deck. The jambalaya with shrimp was rich and spicy - the best I’ve ever tasted. My companion’s roasted trout with pilaf was moist and savory, while our friend’s mushroom etoufee was memorably delicious. The key lime pie we tried for dessert (made in house) was positively sublime. The Parish’s bar offers a great selection of wines, beer and creative cocktails. I look forward to returning!

We enjoyed a lovely dinner with our friends and dogs on the upper deck with a lovely view of the sunset over The Shawangunk ridge. The service was great as was all of our food! Highly recommend stopping in for drinks or food!

Have dined on many occasions (alone, as a couple, with larger parties including a toddler) and this experience is always solid. Food is excellent and staff is friendly. Delish cocktails. Go-to recommendation in NP. And if you’re there late you just might stumble upon a dance party. Good vibes.

If you're in New Paltz I would definitely take a stroll down the vintage water street market and hop into The Parish, be it for drinks and/or dinner. Outdoor seating is great for fresh air, but it does get cold in the winter evenings. However, it makes for bittersweet sunsets. If you can't stand the cold just hop inside in a dimly candlelit dining room and bar. Fair warning, once the drinks start flowing and you smell and see the food as it comes out that double door to the kitchen, you're gonna want to snatch a menu asap.

The bartenders and wait staff are always super friendly providing excellent recommendations. My friends and I got tied up with drinks and conversations between ourselves, the bartenders, and other customers. Soon enough it was coming to last call for the kitchen. We ended up going with the shrimp and grits, fries, jambalaya, and collard greens. Everything came out amazing. My Manhattan chef friend ordered the jambalaya and he was quite blown away. I sampled it and it was simply bustling with flavor and spices that tickled your senses. The shrimp and grits I ordered were superb as well. Nice sweet chunky shrimps topped among some of the best buttery grits I've ever had.

The old Fashioneds had us at hello, but the food and southern hospitality sent us straight back to Nawlins. I'll definitely be coming back here and hope to see you there!

I very rarely write reviews on Google, but it is a must for this restaurant! My boyfriend and I went and sat at the bar for dinner on Saturday, 11/4 around 7:30PM. First and foremost, the bartender was SO kind, inviting, and I think really made our experience here amazing. I don't think I've ever come across someone with the kind of energy he had, he really took customer service to the next level.

As for the food, WOW! If I could have the gumbo every day, I would (lol), and the steak of the day was cooked to perfection along with the string beans and crispy potatoes. 10/10.

When we are back in New Paltz, this is going to be a place we come back to, and if you're looking for somewhere to eat, come here!!

Thank you!!
