Golden Dawn Restaurant

The Golden Dawn on Youngstown’s North side is a true bucket list place to visit & eat. The Dawn is a staple of Youngstown restaurants, family owned and operated since the 1960’s. My Grandfather brought me here as a child & I have continued to dine here for 50 years. The walls are adorned with the local Youngstown high school & college memorial. Your seating options are at the bar/bar stool, table or booth. The staff here were the “uniform” of white button down shirt, black tie & apron. They are always wonderfully friendly & welcoming. They always check on you as you dine. Your coffee or beverage will always be topped off and anything you need, just ask, they will get it for you with a smile. They have a proper breakfast menu, classic comfort food for sure. The lunch menu is equally awesome. Looking for a good fish dinner on Friday?? Look no farther! The bar at the Dawn is fully stocked with classic beers & liquors. You can still get a scooner of beer here!! There are a few TV’s, so you can definitely enjoy the game there. I absolutely love the Golden Dawn, I promise that you will too.

Excellent all around. The Brier Hill pizza and parmesan were great. The draft was surprisingly good for Genesee. The bill was surprisingly low. And the atmosphere was welcoming and classic. This place is a gem.

The food is always amazing the waitress Annie was so attentive to my needs and made sure that my food and experience was on point. When I’m here with my partner they make you feel like family

Best Italian food in Youngstown! The freshness and quality of the food is incredible. The wait staff are super friendly (a special shout out to Will). You can't go wrong with anything on the menu, but my favorites are the Italian egg rolls, spaghetti and meatballs, and the pizza!

Hadn't been here in awhile. My mom and I stopped in for a late lunch the one day. The food was delicious and came out quickly. The staff was friendly and attentive. Prices are what you expect from a dine in restaurant. We got fish that day but I'll definitely be going back for the chicken parm and pasta. You definitely want to stop by for some delicious cuisine.

I had stuffed shells that were so delicious. The sauce was perfect. Being Italian I can say it's just like I make it so it's delicious 😋 It has a very relaxing atmosphere too.

The food was good, and our waitress was happy to make suggestions for us instead of just saying “it’s all good,” which I appreciated. They also have charging ports at the tables, which is so nice!

Was recomended to me by Drs office and since I live in Wv needed a good place to eat. Found a Fantastic place. Mom is handicap had help getting her in without asking. Great service very friendly staff and great food. Mom had chicken tenders and hand cut fries Was very pleased when I tried the fries they were cooked PERFECTLY CRISPY like they should be not soggy/greasy like most places. Had the baked cod dinner very pleased with it. Got pizza to go and am enjoying it right now. Coming from 60 to 80 mins away from there will be returning to there as often as I M in the area. GREAT JOB MIKE AND THE ENTIRE STAFF. Great value for the great food. HIGHLY RECOMEND ANYONE STOPPING AND TRYING THIS PLACE.If you have a bad meal or experience I would be very suprised by it.Personal star score as far as Im concerned is 50 stars out of 5. Yes they were that good.

Growing up in the area, I never knew this place existed. Stopped in and the service was great food was amazing and the beer….ice cold. Will return soon!

Awesome place! Michael was great, he makes an amazing crème brûlée. Everything was superb.

The old cellar entryway behind the bar is a unique touch that no modern spots can match. $1 “schooner” also makes for a friendly drink. I’d go back!

Absolutely the best old school pizza I would go back daily for the same thing it was that good.. prices are great beer is cold also great breakfasts only one very small complaint pop is small and they charge for refills

Get the Jumbo Chop (on Italian Bread), an ice cold schooner of beer, and get transported back to 1950s Youngstown. Bartenders STILL wear white button down shirts with black ties, and owner Johnny Naples is almost always there with a smile and a "Thanks for stopping in folks" when you leave.

This is a must visit. Super cool atmosphere, it's like taking a step back in time. Not only in appearance, service, but in prices too. Loved it fully.

My sister and I had breakfast here this morning. Mary had french toast, I had a ham, mushroom and cheese omelet. The meals were great, the service was excellent and as always it was clean and bright - and we felt very well protected because there were a couple Youngstown police officers eating there as well.
I grew up near the Golden Dawn and have been going there for many years. My mom and I used to go for lunch, my friends and I for schooners of beer, and still going there. I couldn't say anything further than that for a great recommendation!!!

Bar/Dinner open since 1932. Totally refurbished inside. Spacious dining room.

My dad used to take me there. When I go there, I mention him to the bartender, Johnny. It makes me feel like he's still there with us. 🥰

Fantastic staff, food and welcoming patrons. It was like walking back in time. Red sauce is out of this world!! Must try!!!
