We are so pleased with the care my mom has received in two hospitalizations now. The ER was so efficient and thorough. The staff is competent and helpful. The food is good, which is a real compliment coming from my Mother!
Ken H. the Respiratory Therapist even helped my mom by taking her hearing aids off when they were dead and put them on the charger for her, such a helpful gesture.
She has been to Penrose Main in the past and we are much happier here, staff seems to be happy to work here and more attentive to their patients. The staff overall is more friendly which my 90 year old Mom enjoys.

The ER team at UC Health Memorial North services have exceeded my expectations!! From the time I walked to when we were leaving, I was treated like a human and not a number. I was scared walking in, but I was immediately put at ease. The front desk person was very kind and listened carefully to my symptoms. I was seen in the ER room by Dr. David Robert Steinbruner with UC Health Memorial North and his emergency team of highly skilled nurses and caring staff. Dr. Steinbruner has a wonderful bedside manner and is truly a calming presence. The nurses were so comforting and personal, and they all knew exactly what tests were needed to identify what was going on. Most of my questions were answered before I even asked them. Highly recommend this ER and its wonderful, caring staff. The service was great, and I want to thank the staff for treating my situation with care and urgency

My visit to the ER, and admission to the hospital, could have not been better. Every person was so kind, caring, compassionate, calming, and reassuring. My night nurse, Libby, on the 3rd floor, was the greatest. She’s so wonderful. The Cath Lab staff were fantastic. Dr. Lee, Billie, Brian, Madison, Jill, Mary, and Laura…..were top notch. The best, of the best! I sincerely appreciate the calm and reassuring treatment I received from everyone. During a very frightening time, I was surrounded by such competent and compassionate hospital staff.

I wish I knew all of the names of the people in the ER as well. They are all wonderful. I only know Libby’s name on the 3rd floor, but I was treated kindly and respectfully by all of the staff as well. Memorial North is the very best in our area. I’ve always had it at the top of my emergency list as the hospital I need to be taken to.

From my heart, thank you to every person I came in contact with. Such beautiful and competent hospital staff. Thank you so very much. Lynne

It was my first baby so I was super nervous! I had tons of complications and they helped me every step of the way! Marisa in labor and delivery was the best nurse in the entire world! Not only did she opt to stick with me the second night of our 37 hour labor, she stayed late the next morning when the baby was being delivered, just to meet our beautiful baby! My ob and her were such an amazing team! Thank you so much for making this the best experience of my life!

My wife was hospitalized here for 6 days the nurses were top notch .. Ashley in ICU was fantastic. Thank you Ashley for everything you did for my wife you're a true Rockstar. We ordered several meals throughout her stay and Joe who has only been working in the cafeteria for a week is one of the most down to earth coolest guy we have ever met. That guy was made for hospitality. Thank you Joe!!!

Had a hysterectomy here, had to spend the night and the nurses in the mother & baby wing were the sweetest bunch of women, I could ever hope to take care of me while I was an absolute mess. They were full of kind words, tried to help me be comfortable in every way. Everything was clean, up todate and very nice room.

Diagnosed and treated severe abdominal pain as diseased gallbladder in a matter of hours, which was more work than the rude people at Penrose St. Francis did in 7 ER trips over the course of half a year. Love Memorial hospital every time we come in and never any issues with them. Both my children were born there and I have to praise Dr Baer for his great work in delivering them!

So far so good... I'm still here in the waiting room waiting for my son to get out of surgery. I love the hospitality from the staff. I love the new upgrade on communication. It's clean and comfortable.

It's been a year since I was in the orthopedic section of the hospital for back surgery. I did have excellent care with a very skilled & professional nursing staff. I spent 5 or 6 six days in hospital. I could leave comments about my surgeon, but the hospital meet my expectations completely.

I have extremely bias opinions when it comes to mental health care but overall my experience at North was great on March 25 and 26th of 2023. I had been to Memorial Center about 3 months prior due to a similar complaint and was treated like absolute garbage. Granted this time I was not the most cooperative patient as I was extremely traumatised and I felt like no one was listening to me. But one nurse did listen and offered me a deal which is all I had asked for. I just wanted to feel comfortable and she listened. But I would say that if your nursing notes are visible on the patient portal, you shouldn’t be calling a patient manipulative based off their profession just because they know the steps that are going to occur. I understand a lot of things that were happening were due to hospital policy but the staff refused to believe me when I repeatedly stated the same thing which was disheartening. It took my friend coming to the hospital to be with me and talk to the staff for them to finally believe me. I know that patients can be manipulative, as a healthcare provider I see that almost everyday. But you should be able to talk and understand your patients which my initial nurse didn’t even attempt to. But by the morning I was given a different nurse and he went about doing things so differently and treated me like an actual person not just another body. I know I wasn’t the easiest patient in any capacity but I appreciate the effort to stay kind without getting mad. When you approach people with compassion they are more likely to respond well. I would also like to shout out one of the security guards who I don’t remember her name but the amount of effort she went through to advocate for me and make me feel comfortable was beyond my wildest expectations. I am super thankful for her and will remember her super fondly. She’s one of the many reasons I’m trying to stay committed to recovery. I would like to also shout out my nurse Noel A. who treated me with so much compassion and care even when I was not being the most cooperative patient. Going to the hospital can be extremely traumatising but the few staff that listened to my complaints and worries made this experience more positive than negative. All it takes is 2 minutes to try and understand your patients.

I'm leaving my old review below. You still deserve it, but today I'm changing my review to 5 star for 1 reason. Rachel, the night shift nurse for baby delivery. The kindest medical professional I have ever met in my life.

I want to start by saying I resent this hospital, but it's where our doctor prefers delivery. This hospital killed a family member by giving her medication she was allergic to which she stated, it was on her board, and in her file. So when anyone comes here I watch and am on guard.

Rachel is a godsend. I have never in my life met such a kind and caring medical professional. She cared for my wife and our baby like a loving mother. She did her best not to disturb at night and make everyone comfortable. She was extremely gentle with a warm smile, and brought back my faith in this place. She never let a single worry or need go and did everything she could to make this complicated pregnancy as easy as possible. She even helped our firstborn go from worried to excited to meet her brother.

Sometimes when she came to check in, she would bring some fresh ice water, or something else to help. She thinks about you in advance and takes amazing care of you. Even making sure your visitors are comfortable both physically but alleviating your worries. She addresses us all by name, even my little one, who adores her.

She helped us pick out what would be best on the menu for breakfast the next morning, to help with my wife's sensitive stomach. She always came in BEFORE the fluids would run out so she could get it done immediately, and the machine wouldn't go off.

I'm not even sure what else to say. Rachel is amazing. If half the stagg were as kind, compassionate, and competent as her, it would be a much better hospital. Hell, it would be a much better world.

I'm still very mad at the day staff. But I know we are in good hands. Me and the wife both hope our little baby slows down a little. We would much rather have Rachel. Meanwhile, the day staff has woken my wife 19 times the last hour, always taken one of us calling them to swap out a bag despite the machine going off. They don't treat her like a person at all, and have forgotten her name multiple times, even calling her "this girl" to each other in front of her.

So my wife gets a lot of work done here, and dependent on what she is here for, depends on how I feel. She had surgery in November 2015 and was given an anesthesia and had a bad reaction. We tracked what she was given as a just in case. They took 5/5 care of her, all the billing was processed quickly and after a 3 month recovery and 9 additional months physical therapy she is back to athletic competitions.

In 2018, she had to have surgery again (unrelated) with a new doctor. She specifically mentioned this at over 6 different meetings she cant have that happen again. Even at the pre-meeting before the surgery (day before AND day of) a few weeks before a surgery she'd been planning for 6 months, they tell her to reconsider NOT getting surgery and instead telling her to push it back, something her own doctor advised would be a LIFE-THREATENING choice. She says no way. a couple weeks later they tell her they had accidentally booked her during another surgery and had to bump her. A quick phone call 3-way with the attorney and low-and-behold she is on track.

Surgery goes exactly as planned, except guess what they gave her? So she spends an extra night in the hospital getting cared for, puking every time she asks up, because of a mix up.

Honestly, I'm a penrose guy. and I will say from an outside view, Memorial has had the absolute worst service/nurses I've ever met, but also can be better than Penrose.
The difference after years of surgery and ER trips?
Memorial will either be 1/5 or 5/5. Penrose is a consistent 3/5-4/5. Take your gamble, it doesnt matter who your doctor is, it's the administration and nurses. You cant control if it will be a trip worthy of calling borderline vacation, or a trip worthy of recording for a lawyer

I was very happy and pleased with my experience at this hospital. I had an emergency situation while carrying twins and they took me seriously and addressed my concerns right away. I have not had good medical experiences in awhile so it was very rewarding and refreshing to have my care taken seriously and feel supported in ensuring my babies were ok. Thank you to all the nurses and doctors who assisted me!
