Beautiful park, quiet and peaceful.
We went for an overnight adventure for daughters birthday. Started at Miracle Hot Springs then lunch in Buhl and then to the park. We rented a cabin and it is meant for sleeping and nothing else... It has electricity and an ac/heater, single bed, queen and a futon. That's it. No cooking. There is a private fire pit and front porch with a swing that has an clear view of the park, you don't have to peek over tents or RV's. Lots of RV spots with water and 50amp service and there's a dump station on the way out.
There is a combination of vaulted toilets and a bathroom with flushies and free showers.

We went for the observatory and we were able to see some of the stars and an up close view of the full moon. They have presentations and telescopes to view but the big 25" telescope is the largest public accessible telescope around, you get to look through it and see stars you will not see anywhere else. We will be going back during the new moon to get a better view of the stars.
Really nice park, family friendly and beautiful.

The reason the tickets were free was because Saturday at Bruneau it was cloudy, At 11pm maybe 11:30 it cleared a tad bit to see a cluster galaxy. It was 10 or so degrees cooler in Bruneau because of the storm, well worth the trip. Been 7 or 8 times before, things were different new parking lot, landscaping was beautiful. The sky at night is so beautiful with no light pollution, so glad we came. Still saw the movie presentation by Doug. THANKS

Great desert retreat. Plenty of camp spots and great views. Water is warm and swampy but hey it's water in the desert.

Perfect in every aspect of being in a state park. High desert with all the amenities, wide open space, fresh air and beautiful sun rise and sun set, two lakes for fishing or just relaxing, plenty of wildlife.

I have always been a "Mountain Person," rather than a desert lover, but Bruneau Dunes State Park went a long way to changing that. I still live my trees and mountains, but the facilities, and scenery and activities at the dunes were so excellent, I will for sure be back. My 3 year old loved the acres of sand and hiking and running and just being outdoors. The weather prevented star gazing, but there are many other things to do here.

Awesome family fun, be aware of sand being super hot when it's hot out... Snowboarding, swimming, camping, stargazing, memories for a lifetime...worth going!

Great views from the top of the dunes. We climbed the big one and the smaller one.

An absolutely wonderful experience with a brand new $2.7 million observatory. Sungazing, a night viewing of the stars with a 30 minute presentation about the facility. Very hot. Bring lots of water great date night or evening out with the kids.

Packed campground. But overall a fun weekend spent here fishing and playing on the sand dunes.

We went in the spring. It was a little chilly at night but beautiful in the day time. Rent the sit down boards at the visitor center, apply wax liberally and slide down the hill. It was super fun. The camp site and bathroom were nice and clean. Visitor center staff were all very nice and helpful. They sell ice cream but there is no food for sale that I saw. The camp sites fill up with reservations on the weekend. The site we used had electrical and water. They have a dump site too.

Really unique place. The campground was great. Lots of space and nice clean facilities. The dunes are awesome, love the unusual landscape. The hike is tough but rewarding to get to the top of the dunes. The fighter jets flying over are a bonus.

Worth the detour if you're driving though southern Idaho. We were there in the heat of the summer and the place was nearly empty (including the campground). We didn't stay overnight, but it was clear this place would be amazing location to see the stars and enjoy some cool desert nights. Things to do include: swimming, hiking, fishing, star gazing, observatory programs on the weekends.

Observatory was really cool especially for my family. Kids loved looking through the telescope. We used our star map to find constellations. Entrance fee was only $5 per person or $20 for any size family. Definitely worth the short drive from Boise.
