Staggering Ox

I love the Staggering Ox and I am really bummed to see that they are retiring the business. Their sandwiches offer a lot of variety that was much appreciated while going to Tech and stopping in for lunch. The panini style sandwiches are good, but I prefer the classic cold sandwiches. I think it's because of the special bread that changes daily. The wasabi ranch is almost too strong, but in the best way possible, like a good wasabi should be. The atmosphere is perfect for a college town. Groovy wall art, live music on occasion, and good tunes on the radio. This is the first time that I have reviewed the place, but sadly, the last sandwich that I will ever have from them.

Amazing stop for a sandwich on the way back down from Canada. Their “club foot” sandwich was fantastic. I’ve tried a lot of sandwiches but this was something special. I got it on the bread of the day (everything bread) and it was packed with flavor. I got “The Clubhouse” and my wife got the teriyaki rice chicken bowl. I got the chipotle ranch on the side and it contributed heavily to the experience. Fresh and packed with toppings - I wished I had brought another sandwich home to go it was so good. Service took about 20 minutes - which we expected as it was made to order. The ambiance was really neat, a lot of original art around and shirts for sale. I wish we lived closer - I would totally be a regular.

The art in the building makes this place so interesting as it is with their unique sandwiches! I ordered the "ISIS Crisis" clubfoot and reminded me of a really good gyro but with a uniquely delicious soft bread like a burrito! Their Cucumber Dill or "Camel Spit" sauce was refreshing and paired well with that sandwich. Very friendly and patient service as well. Love this place and would highly recommend.

This place is a vibe all it’s own. I had the Pizza Melt and my wife had the Countess. Her exact quote “That was delicious! I’m so glad I got it!” Try the raspberry ranch and their extra large cookies 🤤 phenomenal staff that treated us with so much kindness. 5 stars just isn’t enough.

Made a special stop to try this famous sandwich shop. Fun ambience, delicious food, and great service. Headbanger hoagie and brocolli bacon soup for the win…Don’t forget to snag some bread guts for the road. Highly recommend!

Unique food. Lots of options. Great atmosphere. Would highly recommend! The standing taco sandwiches can be split in half as pictured. The So Crates salad was tasty as well.

I got the 406 and got my son the sticky fingers kids meal. His was bread guts you could put jelly and peanut butter on. My sandwich had a whole bunch of meats and cheeses it was awesome! Chipotle ranch was a perfect spice level too!

So glad we discovered this gem on a road trip. Excellent customer service. They even gave us some cookies and a sticker. Kiddo really enjoyed the pizza rounds (sans the pepperoni) off the kids menu. Teriyaki bowl was a solid healthy option and my sandwich was so tasty dipped in raspberry ranch sauce. (A must try)

I was passing through Butte on a road trip and wanted to eat local. I ordered the Isis Crisis. The bread was soft and fresh and delicious. Good vibes in the restaurant with cool artwork. Lots of really good options on the menu. Hopefully I’ll be back in Butte again so I can try so more options.

I got the special, a Jamaican Jerk, (chicken breast, spicy Jamaican BBQ sauce, pepper jack cheese, lettuce, mango salsa) Yummy! Good spice while not being too spicy. I also got a side of raspberry ranch. Friendly service and fun ambiance.

Don’t degrade yourself by going to another other sandwich eatery! Staggering Ox is by far the best option you could choose for an amazing selection of fresh crisp vegis, delicious meat, and spoil yourself cheeses and sauces. Our Staggering Ox closed 8 years ago and to this day I’ll have a craving for The Rabbit Habit with no mushrooms that can’t be satisfied with any other inferior sandwich. But driving through Butte Mt I searched for a quick place to eat and to my excitement there was one! Oh sweet day! I can’t remember the last time I was so freakin excited to eat a sandwich and the delicious soul satisfying flavors did the trick. Stop what you are doing and go now!!!

This place is fantastic!! Especially the Butte exclusive, “406”. Highly recommended you come in for a sandwich and check out the original art. I also recommend the blue horsey sauce.

Fantastic artwork/overall aesthetic! And most importantly, fantastic sandwiches! The shape of the sandwiches is very interesting and makes them that much more fun to eat.

Staggering Ox in Butte Montana is amazing! Unique sandwiches with amazing breads and sauces. The Flatfoot Turkey Melt and Ox Fingers are so good! Great atmosphere. Excellent service from Shanda! She explained the sandwich choices, gave recommendations and was very nice to all customers. Thanks for a great lunch!!

Great little lunch spot! Broccoli cheddar soup was the best I’ve ever had and we loved the Nuke sandwich with chipotle ranch too! Fast and friendly service. Highly recommend!
