Sky Meadows State Park Visitor Center

Beautiful state park. Amazing views, easy hiking, historic buildings, great little gift shop. Definitely want to come back again soon.

Great merchandise, great trails, amazing views! Worth the trip! I'll be back! Wanted a t-shirt but didn't break down and buy one... it was 21 degrees outside but we still managed to really enjoy the trail because of the beautiful views.

I love hiking at sky meadows. It is beautiful, not crowded, and has many different well marked trails from which to choose. I've visited in the fall and in the winter with great success.

Great park to take it slow under a shade tree and let the day unfold. SMSP 40th anniversary celebration was a real treat for all of us that braved the gorgeous dry summer day. Our dog made some friends.

Such a great experience! We went for the Strawberry Festival and the view are wonderful. So much of the park we didn't visit but will be back. Lots of walking, hiking. Definitely bring a camera! Gas station is about 10 mins up the road.

Nice place with good walking trails. On this day that I went I seemed to have the place to myself. I just sat on the porch relaxing in the rocking chair and enjoyed the veiws...

Went for the Star Gazing evening on a clear moonless June evening with the Milky Way visible with the naked eye.

With folding chairs and snacks in hand, we arrived early to hear an informative talk by the Park Ranger. After sunset amateur astronomers were in attendance to provide a closer look at the constellations through their telescopes. Even without viewing aids, a downloaded astronomy app comes in handy to navigate the stars. Please keep your phone in dark or red mode as a courtesy to other stargazers.

During the day, this park is one of the premier destinations for a family day trip away from the city with beautiful mountain views and trails, a small gift shop and restrooms. Can't recommend it enough.

One of our favorite Virginia spots with some steep climbs, shady trails and gorgeous views. There are clear trail marks indicating difficulty and which path to follow. The park has a little bit for everyone with ample parking to make it easy.

Beautiful experience. I have been here in both storms and sunny skies. If you love hiking or walking, you can enjoy small easy trips or long hard trips. The visitor area, chickens, cows, and interactive displays are great for children (and adults who love feeding chickens!)

There's a lot to discover at Sky Meadows. There's about 8 different trails. The view in the attached picture is from the Piedmont Overlook on the Red trail. There's a lot to see and discover and it's near a lot of wineries to do some post-hike relaxing.

Beautiful views, with multiple trails. Clean restrooms. Mobile signals are low here. They do have small gift shop. You can also pay the parking fee here in the visitor center.

Great and friendly staff that helped some Sky Meadows first timers have a fantastic trip.

The trails were beautiful and very well maintained. We hiked to Piedmont Overlook and around a few other trails with our 4 and 6 year olds and had a blast. They also loved exploring the historic farm area as well. We are excited to return foray more hikes!

Stunning views and a great state park. Tons of hiking trails and a pretty hilly climb in, if by bike. Beautiful old house you can tour and if you're out some memorial day weekend, make sure to stop by the annual strawberry festival!

The visitor center and gift shop at Sky Meadows is a great place to learn about all of the programs and hiking opportunities available. It is also a great place to cool down after a nice hike and the perfect place to get a souvenir! There is also a nature room and bathrooms on site! If you need something fun for kids to do, ask the park ranger about the junior ranger, geocaching and the backpacking programs!

Outstanding grounds, trails...and a view of northern Fauquier County that would be otherwise impossible to achieve as so much is private land. Visit in mid-September and maybe find ripe paw-paws, as we did. Absolutely delicious and native!

Sky Meadows visitor center has a little shop and the buildings from an earlier era farm property, now run by the Virginia Dept of Parks. It is also a parking area for a number of great intertwined hiking trails which lead up the mountain to the Appalachian Trail at the top.
