Dr Kirkpatrick was very helpful and willing to listen to me as was the nurse. Much better experience than I had with my Primary Care doctor who was is a hurry to get me out. It wasn’t that way with Dr K. Felt much better about my issue when I left.

Smooth and painless was my colonoscopy. I survived , so I call that a success. Dr. Kirkpatrick treated my dad before me... nice, professional, successful. I recommend to all my friends and family.

I finally went to a GI for my long lasting stomach issues. I was hopeful and had okay first impressions.

However, I feel he wasn't very straight forward with me. After my initial appointment, I had no way to speak with him even though he reassured me that we could do most of it over the phone. I only ever got to speak with Beth Anne and I feel there were miscommunications.

They never told me my results were ready. When I called for my blood test results, I felt dismissed when I asked about what comes next. She said she would call me back after speaking with the doctor but she never did. They also never responded to my message through the patient portal.

I feel incredibly let down by this office. There is better care out there and I recommend anyone to go somewhere else.

TL;DR: Their misdiagnoses could have killed me.

This review is more for PA Trotter and Dr. Kirkpatrick's office staff than for him. He was never there. I think I met him once during my whole ordeal and that was right before my 1st endoscopy, which is part of the problem. I went to his office 2+ years ago for pain in my stomach area, after a slew of tests I was told I had a small hiatal hernia and that was the root of my problem. Spoiler: It wasn't and I continued to have issues, but thought there wasn't much I could do about it since the hernia was too small to operate on. Fast forward to August 2023, I went to the ER with severe pain in that same place. I didn't know if I was having a heart attack or what, thankfully my heart was okay, but the pain was 8/9. I was able to get in to Dr. Kirkpatrick's office that week, thankfully, and met with PA Trotter who immediately ordered an endoscopy (even though I just had one 2 years ago that came back clean for the same problem area and it was 6 weeks out), HIDA scan (which came back fine), prescribed peppermint Altoids (I kid you not) and an anti-spasmotic to take as needed. The pain got worse. I could not eat. I was losing a pound a day and ended up back in the ER for severe pain. I called the office and begged for someone to help me. Something was really wrong. They prescribed a medicine I couldn't take (couldn't take it 2+ years ago either) and an antidepressant/sedative. Then they stopped returning my calls, so I fired them. I ended up going to Adult Gastroenterology Associates in Tulsa. I had an endoscopy and colonoscopy 5 days after my first appointment. When those came back clean, my new doc asked if I had an ultrasound report that he could access and was floored when I told them that PA Trotter never ordered one. It should have been the first thing done. The ultrasound showed a moderate amount of sludge in my gallbladder (there should be no sludge and HIDA scans don't often catch sludge). When the surgeon saw the report, I was scheduled for surgery 4 days later. With the amount of pain I'd been in and the escalation of symptoms he was afraid it was going to rupture at any time. When he got in there, the gallbladder had adhered to my liver and caused scar tissue. When my husband asked if that could have been prevented had I been diagnosed 2+ years ago, the surgeon couldn't say for sure, but definitely said it didn't help. All PA Trotter had to do was schedule an ultrasound and it would have saved me a bunch of unnecessary tests, tens of thousands in those unnecessary tests and ER visits, untold hours I've missed with my children because my stomach hurt so bad I couldn't move, the mental anguish of being gaslighted by people who are supposed to help, and I'm not even going into the fact I could have had severe liver damage or even died. So no, I do not recommend Dr. Kirkpatrick. I know Tulsa is a long way to drive, but Adult Gastroenterology Associates has two doctors that come to Bartlesville, so you don't have to and I highly recommend them.

EDITED TO ADD: I did have an ultrasound 2+ years ago that apparently came back clean. I do not remember getting this ultrasound, but I did find it in my patient portal. Even so, Dr. Kirkpatrick's office did not order one this time around and stopped returning my calls when I became a "problem patient". In 6 weeks time GSI in Tulsa had me diagnosed and the problem fixed. I have since been told by the surgeon that Dr. Kirkpatrick was in the wrong for not continuing to figure out the problem 2+ years ago, that there was no way it was the hiatal hernia, and to never let a doctor tell me I have no options other than to remain in pain. There are always options.

my swallowing/eating issues have gotten so bad I haven't had a full meal in 2 weeks. they have been reluctant to help me, before this I was told they didn't want to do another EGD procedure and then I ended up getting another one in Tulsa with a major difference. the issues I have are still there & I had to show up without an appointment demanding help. apparently my nutrition levels were off, but "not off enough" for a feeding tube when I am now 99 pounds. I was told my health is my #1 priority and nurse BETHANN stated that if I felt that way I "needed to go to Tulsa." hahaha just wait.
