Uptown Blanco Restaurant

Unimposing facade leads into a lovely dining area. You cannot park directly out front, so parking is available wherever you find it. We were seated promptly and received excellent service. Lunch menu includes salads, sandwiches, appetizers, and entrees like chicken fried steak. Beer and wine choices are numerous. I enjoyed the chicken salad sandwich plate, which was scrumptious. Others enjoyed the crab cakes and grilled shrimp appetizers. Rave reviews for them both. We enjoyed our meals so much we went out of our way to tell the manager...! Dessert is available. Prices are very reasonable and we would love to return for dinner.

My wife and I had the pleasure of dining here tonight during our weekend getaway. We tried the barbecue shrimp for an appetizer alongside some freshly baked garlic bread, delicious to say the least! We both had a ribeye as the main course which was both flavorful and tender, served atop great mashed potatoes and Mac and cheese for myself and a side of broccolini for my wife, which was seasoned to perfection! For dessert we had a nice cup of coffee paired with a piece of lemon crème cake. The cake had a great texture and was the perfect amount of sweetness. The ambience of the dining room was both cozy and romantic. We had the pleasure of being served by Darius, who quite frankly made our experience top notch! Darius made sure that we had a great experience with superb attentiveness, conversation and suggestions for both entrée and drink selection. Darius definitely made us feel welcomed and has secured our business as future customers!

We feel like we are spoiling ourselves when we have dinner at Uptown. Love 1/2 priced wine nights on Wednesdays. I think my favorite is the shrimp. We also enjoy dining in the historic building, very special.

We had the most amazing experience! The food was unbelievable! We ate the special, the filet topped with a crab cake on top of mashed potatoes with asparagus and multi-colored carrots. The music was fun and helped add to the atmosphere. It was topped off with a decadent flourless chocolate cake!! Too bad we live 4 hours away.

Moved to Blanco 8 months ago. COVId had things still kinda weird but as things got back to normal we were glad to finally get a chance to come into eat. I was angry with myself that we hadn’t come in sooner. The crab cakes were the best I have ever had and I’ve had them all over the US. Not too much stuffing filler and plenty of moist crab bites with a beautiful sauce. I had the chicken fried steak because I saw in the reviews how so wine wise really liked it. Wow, also one of the best I have ever had. Perfect juicy bites from a delicate cut of beef. No grizzle! The gravy, mashed potato’s and asparagus were excellent. My wife had the Caesar salad with a piece of salmon added. She really liked it, I tried some and wasn’t as fond but still good. We followed up with the Crème Brûlée with blueberries which was delicious but could have been a bit bigger. Put me total bill less tip was $125 with a bottle of wine. We’ll be back for sure!

The chicken fried steak was wonderful!! I have never had anything there that wasn't wonderful. The staff is helping and attentive.

If I could give the atmosphere six stars I would. The building is beautiful! Service was great, everyone was very friendly and attentive, and the food did not disappoint. Our table enjoyed prime rib, salmon, and shrimp. We skipped appetizers and dessert but left stuffed! The meal was more costly than we anticipated from Yelp ($$$ instead of $$), but we did not feel like it wasn't worth it.

Great food and even greater service. Julie was phenomenal and hospitable. Food was top notch. I highly recommend this restaurant.

New favorite restaurant - from the gorgeous renovation in one of Blancos Historic buildings to the innovative and wonderful food to the great Chef and wait staff - awesome evening! Thank you to the new Manager - Collin! You and your folks are doing a great job.

Another outstanding meal! Pork chop and chicken marsala were some of the best ever. The bacon blue salad was loaded with bacon and Bleu cheese.

Love this restaurant. Good quality ingredients. Love the ambiance. The architecture is just terrific!!! Go look CLOSELY at the large framed "artwork" on the far wall from the entrance. Priceless. So glad it was salvaged, valued and displayed in the manner it is done.

Great staff. Know by name by our 2nd visit. Had lunch here too. Just be forewarned that due to staff shortages all over, it impacts them as well. We went at "off hours" so timely service was not an issue. Be patient, kind and understanding. We're thinking of coming here for our anniversary. We'll definitely make reservations, if we do. Just a heads-up.

What a fantastic building and grounds. Highly recommend a stroll. There's a jail from the 1800s that can be seen in the courtyard, from the back window. Also a beautiful, beautiful mosaic fountain can be seen from that same window. The details, the care and concern for maintaining it's history is to be HIGHLY commended. I'm looking forward to attending one of the performing arts events so I can peek into the ballroom upstairs, as well.

The spinach Swiss omelet with added mushrooms and onions is perfection ($10.40 comes hashbrowns and toast)! The scrumptious pancakes (a vanilla muffin) were huge and fluffy. The waitress Valen was perfection in assisting someone in my group with celiac. The building inside immaculate with old word charm. It was a highlight to enjoy this gem.

Amazing restaurant, it's like stepping back in time. Fancy for Blanco. Enjoyed the breakfast (Benedict, French Toast) and pork chops. Great service too.

My daughter and I have breakfast here after our daddy-daughter morning hunt. The food is always good, the portions huge, and the staff are wonderful. I love Uptown, and I look forward to eating breakfast there for years to come!

We held our rehearsal dinner at Uptown Blanco in the spring and it was wonderful! They have a private area that is perfect for events. My husband and I met with the manager and the chef prior to our date to discuss the menu. He was great at communicatiion to make the event run smoothly and meet our needs. All of our entrees, appetizers, and desserts were delicious. I especially loved the BBQ shrimp and the bacon-wrapped meatloaf was a hit. Great selection of beer and wine. The servers were professional and courteous. My family felt welcome and were treated like special guests. Overall incredible experience!

Wow! Had saved this restaurant as a place to try on Google Maps and went in NYE. It was way better than expected! The menu is outstanding. I had the chicken fried steak and it was best I'd ever had, by a long shot. The cut of meat (I forgot to ask which cut, but it was definitely NOT the usual cube steak) was tender, cooked perfectly and the batter was light and not greasy. The country, white gravy was the way its supposed to be. Though the boccolini was a little undercooked (for a change), the mashed potatoes were as good as my wife's. And hers are perfect. She had the pistachio encrusted lamb chops and THEY were also as good as you can get. They also actually had Samuel Smith Taddy Porter, which I hadn't seen in years, and it's the best Porter out there.
AND, the waiter, think hus name was Darius, was outstanding as well, even. Very helpful with wine selection, offered to get a case of the Samuel Smith if we wanted, and great sense of humor. Really tried to encourage and add to our fun (it WAS NYE, afterall). Then, when we were leaving, gave us a tour of the complex, which was a very nicely renovated historic building, now a restaurant with venue areas.
I'm glad we live within 15 minutes of this restaurant. A little expensive for us, but you get more than you pay for.
I don't review many places, but this is definitely worthy of the effort.

We ate here to celebrate our wedding Anniversary. We had the truffle fries for an appetizer and the I had the crab cakes and my husband had the pork chop. Everything was excellent and our waitress was very attentive.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND! We stopped here on our way down to Canyon Lake, but I would recommend anyone to make a trip out to Blanco just for this place. Everything was DELICIOUS. We were amazed by the special, filet mignon topped with a crab cake and hollandaise sauce. The mashed potatoes are to die for. I wouldn’t reorder the mac and cheese. The flourless chocolate cake was amazing and decadent. The live music was incredible. You will not regret stopping here.
