This funeral experience did not go well. The funeral director, not a family member, decided to speak even though he was not asked to. His unprofessional, dramatic speech interrupted the calm, thoughtful time that the family was spending with their loved one. At both the rosary and the cemetery, he interjected his own personal beliefs which did not reflect the family’s sentiments and was upsetting to them during an already difficult time. The family was there to celebrate a life, not to be subjected to a dramatic mourning experience. Also, the fact that he never removed his hat was disrespectful.
