Flanders Fish Market & Restaurant

We had a crab cake sandwich and a fish sandwich. Both were huge. Crabcake had to be over an inch thick. They were both delicious. Great restaurant and fish market not far off the highway!

Stopped here on my way back from a family trip to Rhode Island. First time having steamers and they were delicious! Cappy's combo was also AMAZING!

I'm biased. I grew up in Flanders and went to school with the family that owns it. That being said, they offer classic shoreline fare, as well as some neat and exciting takes if you're looking for something fancy. It's got new England charm with a touch of class, so it's definitely a step up from most seafood joints. Everyone is super friendly, the food is great, and it's a great place to take your family.

What a gem. This place is so amazing, I wanted to move to East Lyme from Montana.

I stopped here for a late lunch. I took it to go so I could take it back to my lodging at the Coast Guard Academy.

I ordered the cold lobster roll, a cup of cloudy (they offer clear as well) clam chowder, lobster bisque, and a side of cole slaw. I chose a raspberry chocolate bar for my dessert. They offer many local goodies that are non-seafood.
Then the cashier showed me the homemade desserts in the cooler, of which I chose the carrot cake. They are locally made by a lady. I chose wisely.
The food was fresh and flavorful. The cold lobster salad was in a light blend of mayo and was tender. The chowder was good and solid, I prefer it a bit thicker. The bisque was superb with large chunks of lobster bathed in cream and Sherry.
The slaw was crispy and smothered in a light tangy sauce. It was refreshing and a great balance to the seafood.
The carrot cake was up to my standards. Moist, fresh, with a nice balance of spices, nuts, and raisins. The frosting was light and sweet. Fresh, grated carrots on top were a unique surprise, I have never thought of that.

Got the tuna burger and shrimp on toast. Portions did not disappoint. Was expecting tiny shrimp on a small piece of toast. Was instead present with the attached which could both have been from Texas! Tons of tuna in my burger. Could have had some more wasabi but I tend to like it spicier than most. Kids got a salmon burger and fish and chips. Both were shredded before I thought to get a picture.

I went to Flanders to see Julie and it was an awesome experience!

We are traveling and stopped in Niantic for the night and were looking for a good restaurant. The hotel clerk recommended Flanders and he was spot on.

The thing I liked the most was how friendly everyone who worked there and how much of a team effort they put forth. We had multiple people pick up empty plates, ask if we needed anything and tell us thanks for being there. Julie did an excellent job of waiting on us and making us feel welcome.

The food was fresh and fantastic. Cooked to perfection, very tasty and reasonably priced. What a great place!!

I really like this place. Leo, the bartender, is super nice. He will treat you as a champ!, pineapple jalapeño margarritaaaa is the best, I tried lobster roll and I'm discussing with myself if it is the best that I have ever tried, place is really nice overall, I do recommend this place 100%!

Came here for dinner on a Sunday. The classic calamari was delicious. Our entrée was even better. The fish n chips and talapia were tasty, but we had to find out about the hot lobster roll we've been hearing about. There's a plaque on the wall next to the host desk where in June 2022 Flanders has the best lobster roll in the area. So, we ordered it, and it did not disappoint. Truly the best lobster roll I've had here in the area. Our server was fabulous and the staff was extremely friendly. Definitely recommend coming here.

Flanders is an adorable little restaurant very clean and nice staff was very very polite food is very good for the price. we recommend the shrimp wings with teriyaki sauce. We went around 6 PM so we had to wait about 20 minutes for a table but it was worth it. John is absolutely the best server ever. Ever ever!

Wait staff was excellent as was the food! Shared several apps across the table and all were fantastic. Each entree was prepared and cooked perfectly. Will definitely be going back!!

Amazing food and service! I hadn't been to Flanders Fish Market in several years but drove down to the CT shore for some great seafood. Got calamari, clam strips, and a lobster roll. The calamari and clam strips were lightly fried golden brown and were very tender and flavorful. The cold lobster roll had just enough mayo and celery not to cover the lobster taste. Our server was Nicole. She was very friendly and gave us recommendations. Well worth the trip!

Oh my goodness! This restaurant, Flanders Fish Market, was so amazing that we went there twice during our visit to CT. The food was incredible. Their house-made bleu dressing is the best I've ever had. We got the wedge salads, clam chowder and steamers and everything was delicious. The chefs also do a great job with the presentation of your meal as well. Our waitress was Julie and she was an absolute gem. She was very friendly and attentive to all our questions and needs. She also really makes an effort to acknowledge you and remembered tiny details from our first visit when we went the second time around. The staff in general were all really friendly and attentive and make sure they have each other's backs when it's busy so people are taken care of. Hands down 5 stars, highly recommend and cannot wait to go again the next time we are in CT!!

Trust me when I tell that everything in here was delicious. The avocado bake is a must starter! The staff were all friendly and helpful. Very good Covid rules in place. They have a fish market that was very fresh. We also go some fresh seafood to prepare at home. A must try if your visiting upper Connecticut.

Flanders is a must-try in the Niantic Area. I got the grilled lemon garlic salmon with mixed veggies and mashed potatoes. The salmon had a perfect lemon flavor and i love how they cooked the onion for the veggies. It had no onion flavor and was soft. We also tried the beer battered fish and chips and the fish was so light and fresh. The batter wasn’t oily and had a good flavor and the coleslaw was sweet. Even if you come to pick up seafood, their fish case looks so fresh. Definitely want to come back and try their huge carrot cake and New England Clam Chowder.

For some reason I was hesitant about going here due to past experience I guess Regarding atmosphere..
Well what a pleasant surprise when we sat at the bar with a lovely lovely bartender named Nicole
She was friendly, engaging , sincere.
Food oh my goodness.. One thing as good as the next..
For anyone who likes calamari Strongly suggest the calamari in the red sauce for an appetizer= divine !
Great experience !

This was our first time here and we were not disappointed. We had a reasonably short wait and quick service. We came for a simple steamed lobster dinner and thoroughly enjoyed it. The RI Clam Chowder was especially good. We visit Mystic once a year and this will be on our must-visit list.

I love this place ❤, I love it so much, I could live there! We were for dinner there twice and both times the food was excellent! They have 5 dollars fishing chips on Tuesdays super good! The oyster stew, clam chowder and lobster bisque were very good! They also have fish market there everything looks super fresh!

We stopped in for an early Sunday brunch. Their broth based (non-creamy) clam chowder is the best I’ve ever had. We also ordered bloody Mary’s and lobster Benedict. Yes, lobster! Both were incredible! The service and ambiance were also outstanding. This is our new go to brunch spot in the area.

We stop whenever we're driving through the area. They have the best clam fritters I've had. The clams and chowder are good as well. It's a great place to stop and eat some shellfish outside on the patio when it's nice out.
